Lovely place, right on the water with beautiful mangroves around. Super nice people, amenities and food are great too. Camping is 250 D per person. Definitely recommend!

Report Check-In

This is a truly wonderful place. Very relaxed, helpful and friendly staff. Meet the people in the village, they love to see you and talk to you. I spent four days here and those were days to never forget.

How to get there by public transport:
I took a shared taxi from westfield junction to Birkama. From there a mini bus to Kafuta and used Google maps to determine where to get off. It is a 2km walk from there or hitch a ride if some one passes, which happened to me arriving, but not when leaving.

Stunning location and a real eco village with all families in the village involved. The new rooms with ensuite proper toilet and showers all complete and very clean. Camping D500 per person. Would highly recommend a late afternoon boat trip in the mangrove swamps. Very beautiful and calm. We had dinner both nights we stayed which was really good. Highly recommend this camp.

Highly recommend! The camp is undergoing renovations and will be ready in 2023 for visitors to stay in rooms. In the meantime we could camp on the banks of the river. Stunning sunsets. Activities all well priced and well organised. We did canoe ride and bird watching. Proper ecotourism project where every family in village has someone working on the project ensuring a salary for each family and a whole community working to make this project work for everyone. Very welcoming. No wifi but good signal. Good food available - they arranged a buffet just for two of us and we were brought fruit from the village too. Highly recommend.

The camp has really struggled through Covid, and seemed deserted when we arrived. Swing past the village first and they’ll look after you well! Great spot to stop for a day or 2, Genuine, honest people.

I stayed 2 days and it was wonderful, if my travels had allowed I would have stayed longer. The people are warm and welcoming, the location on the banks of the river incredible. There are a variety of activities and you will enjoy them all.
Here you are supporting a local community.

Very nice location right at the river and a very good project.
The benefits of the ecolodge go towards the development of the village, school, youth and so on. One of the few projects that works in Gambia, where the local community runs a lodge with volunteers and the profits go back into the community.
