We arrived on a Saturday. It was full of locals when we arrived, however everyone did leave right before sunset. We asked if we could stay at the little green tienda and they were happy to have us and had us park on the nice open green field on the left side of the tienda. However it seemed we could have camped anywhere. There was a man sheering sheep when we arrived. That was fun! We camped next to their house and it wasn’t super quiet with all the animals. Pigs, chickens, roosters. Rooster crowed right by our camper starting at 5:30am. Maybe we should have camped on the other side of the lake. But other than that it was a nice quiet peaceful night. Still free! They sell drinks, snacks, and ice cream at the tienda. |

3 fast flowing taps in this cemetary. Park next to the glass container, the taps are on the inside of this same wall, just throw a hose over. There are similar taps in other cemetaries in town too. |

The small Asian village of Cacao has a nice vibe on Sunday mornings. we especially recommend the butterfly and insect museum if you understand French. For 5 euros per person you get a vivid and super interesting explanation about all sorts of insects and butterflies living in Guyana. Guided tour at 9am, 11am, 14pm (during holiday season also at 12am and 15pm) and only on Sunday. |

Parking next to the wooden church. Great for a night, and to visit the Merry Cemetery 150m away. The small village has a few restaurants, some accommodation, and a museum. They normally charge 10Lei (2€) during the day to park in this lot, but we arrived around 8pm and the owner at the souvenir shop said we could stay/sleep for free. Good wifi, water in front of church, and we used a restaurant toilet after dinner there. 1.3km north is the Peri Monastery which is one of the tallest wooden structures in Europe. Definitely worth a stop over. |

Directly off the West Side Road FR 90. Stop here for a great overview or to camp. There is a parking space you can use for bigger rigs or turn left and find a small spot for a tent or van camping.

Noticed that this small campground wasn’t listed on iOverlander as we drove by. Self check in. Open sky’s for Starlink. Very close to Custer, Bonanza City & the enormous dredge. Looked like at least 6 spots. See if they have a website. Or just stop in. |

15000 ARS pp for foreigners. quite a bit of money! you may spend several days in the parc if you sleep on the campground (where as 2 foreigners with a van we paid another 18800 ARS per night. All in all too much money for not incredibly much to see. we would not go again. |

we parked for a few nights at the end of this street. friendly people. if in the right season you might observe huge turtles laying eggs at night. a lot of people practising sports during the weekend or early morning, otherwise very quiet. we didn't put table or chairs outside of course :-) could fill our watertanks at the cemetary in the same street. |

Cell phone availability for Telcel. Movistar and AT&T also have service, but slower. Parking is in the yard of a private house, at no cost. RVs are welcome. cannot host big trucks. We cannot welcome pets because we already have 4 dogs, and two of them don't get along well, so they might ot not get along with your pets, either. You're welcome to stay in the house, or if you prefer to sleep in your vehicle, you're welcome to use the services (shower, toilet, kitchen, WiFi, etc.). |

The guy overcharges $2 and claims it’s for commission/paper if you ask. If you want to save yourself the $2, try asking for the receipt first before handing over any money. $20 ($22*) for 90 days Ford Transit van with 2 legal seats. |

Come here for a Claro sim card. Lots of parking with a very high entrance bar (most rigs should fit just fine). Prepaid chips are 5 soles. Bring your passport. Options for 30 days:
I paid with an Amex credit card with no issues. You will have to pay 2.50 soles/hour for parking, and a purchase at Clar doesn’t wave this fee. When you leave the store, go right through the “tunnel” to a little kiosk to pay the ticket. |

Super chill border crossing. All smooth leaving Ecuador and entering Peru. 1) Stamp out of Ecuador in passport.
There was no line at 9:30am on a Sunday, but it still took a little bit for all the officials to carry out their tasks. SOAT guy is overly friendly so that he can then overcharge $2. He said it was for “paper and commission” when I asked why. Ask to see the receipt before paying and you will see the actual price. DOGS: We did the export paperwork with Agrocalidad. We were told by the Peru TIP official that when we drove away, we’d pass another official who may ask to see it before officially leaving Ecuador. He was only concerned if we had plants, fruits, and veggies. He asked if we had them in a way that suggested he wanted us to lie if we did. We said no as we tried to direct his attention away from the 25 bananas on the kitchen counter. Didn’t go into the van. Didn’t want the pet paperwork. Just asked if we did our other car paperwork… checked nothing. Senasa (Peru side) is on strike. 30 minutes down the road, we were told to pull over, again asking about fruits, veggies, plants. Said no and redirected to dog paperwork. The two Senasa officials told me that they were on strike so they couldn’t process anything, but that it didn’t matter. In a few weeks, it should be resolved, and we should be able to do the necessary paperwork to enter Bolivia/Chile. I bet you’d be fine smuggling your dog in here without any worry about import/export fees/paperwork. |

I think this might be where you do Senasa dog import stuff for Peru. We crossed on a Sunday. Nobody from Senasa was at the border. Here, two Senasa officials told me they were on strike and there was no way to process any dog paperwork at the moment. They also said I wouldn’t have any problems. Other officials asked about fruits, veggies, and plants. We said no and they didn’t come in the van to check. |

BE AWARE: If you're driving north on US-199, the left turn for FS-25 is just before a passing lane ends and traffic from behind is speeding to get by slower traffic. So you would be slowing down in the fast lane, especially (like me) you didn't see the turn until the last second and hit the brakes hard. There is no left turn lane or median. |
