Zimbabwe
If you book you can camp on the hide platform. We slept in our truck next to it. This is right by a waterhole, no fences. It was amazing. As it got dark we had over 300 elephants come down and then were serenaded by a pride of 12 lion from 2am until day break. $23 per adult plus park fees. There are no facilities! (They’re all broken)
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
No facilities (everything is broken) but an amazing spot! For both rooftop tents and regular tents. You can pitch your tent on top of the platform or set your next to it.
It’s a very busy waterhole (for animals not people). During the day we had zebra’s, kudu’s and impala’s. At night lots of elephants and a hippo and in the morning buffalo’s. Try to bargain on the price (13 dollar per person) because there isn’t even running water. But it’s a great spot to camp! You can book it at one of the gates or lodges.
Wild camp, only one car passed during all the day. zebra, kudu, giraffe, baboon, many birds. 23$ pp, 10$ entrance, 30$ for big rigs for 5 days
Report Check-InPerfect place to have a wild camping feeling! Clean toilet, clean platform. We put our camping table up there to have dinner and breakfast. Platform is equipped with chairs. Stayed in our roof top tent. After dark lots of elephant and haeynas came. Some elephant of different groups came very close to the platform because they loved to drink waisting water out of a broken pipe of the ablution block left to the platform.
Great beeing in a safe position on the platform watching 8 elephant 5 m away drinking and fighting for the water. We will never forget the noises!!!
The best camping when you have full moon and clear sky!
We were pretty happy with the animal sightings in the evening. We arrived at 3 pm, set up our camp on the platform and from 4 pm animals came to the waterholes, a small herd of gnus and zebras, 3 giraffes and and a bigger family of baboons. After dark a bigger herd of buffaloes came and in the night we saw a lone elephant. It was a real experience to have a viewing platform all for yourself. 23$ pp for camping, 10 $ pp park entry and 10 $ per vehicle. We booked the platform at the national parks head office in Vic Falls, otherwise surely at Main Camp. Run down toilets and running water (pretty toilets), but wasn’t keen to use the shower. The platform is approx. 2 x 8 meters. We could not fit our tent, but used the mattresses etc. under a mosquito net, which is not really needed. In the morning it was pretty cold (approx. 12 degrees) with a cold wind (end of April), make sure you have enough blankets etc.
Report Check-InPlatform next to a waterhole. One is allowed to sleep on the platform. 2 flushing Toilets and 1 shower with running water. No Electricity. No Econet Cellphone Signal. Pure National Park Feeling - wildlife at its best !
Paid Entry Fee 6 $, car fee 10 $ and camping 16 $ (incl. discount)
Booked at Robins Camp where swiping is not possible. Only cash.
Report Check-InBeautiful waterhole and hide. We were not so lucky... A few giraffe and zebra was all we got :) $22,61 pp + $10 pp (park) + $10 for the car If we were to come back here I would book Masuma or Deteema!
