Stayed 2 nights after coming back from Manu national park. Great spot. Coming through the narrow bush path, it feels very secluded yet the space itself is big and very open. Bird & jungle sounds all day long. Beautiful stargazing.

I had stayed a few nights in the beginning of April, no issues. Although now as of April 22, there is a security person on patrol checking in on cars that pull in and confirming you have a room. I was informed the inner lot area is private property, but was advised that parking near the enclosed dumpster that I presume Starbucks uses is ok. This is the third parking tract east of the hotel building, and closer to the Starbucks rather than south near the shipping container. Use your discretion.

We initially planned to stay at the Catholic mission but ended up checking out other places in town due to bad reviews. We found this small, lovely hotel with secure parking where you can sleep, run by George, a Dutch man who has lived in the DRC for 18 years. We payed 5$/night. George is fascinated by people traveling across Africa. The hotel is quiet, has a pool, and the 8 rooms cost between $150 and $180 including breakfast, pool, A/C. There’s also a good restaurant with reasonable prices. We enjoyed an evening listening to George's amazing stories about the DRC. Highly recommended if you're in Muanda.

The first 10 km in this road to the central Kalahari is very bad. Lot of dust, sand, holes and bush trees. But the next 35 km are better, still bumpy but better. There is not other better option so you just have yo take your time and it will be ok.

Stayed here for a couple of days to prepare for the boarder crossing Kasachstan-China. (Crossing without car)
That place is beautiful. Nearly no trash. Water from river is perfect to cool down, laundry by hand and dishwashing.
Internet connection is good.
In the morning and afternoon the cow Shepard passes by. Only on weekends there are families and other people coming to enjoy the beautiful place too.
Nice Mountain View as well :)

Still here and still have a good selection of oil. Bit expensive but it’s the only place we’ve found in Tanzania that has what we need

We tried this place based on the review below and were very pleased. Friendly manager, extremely helpful and looked after our vehicle very well - large, secure car park behind the hotel.

The only downside was the noise - there are bars with loud music every night I would recommend getting an internal room

Almost 360° view on Laguna Sofia, the ocean and lots of mountains. I also saw a few condors and an eagle. You can hike up there from Laguna Sofia. The trail is pretty good and easy to follow. You can eather start from -51.540983, -72.599886 or -51.547419, -72.578749. I started from the latter. Had to climb a gate at the start.

Customer Service approved overnight parking and indicated I was to park at the end of the Lawn & Garden aisle. My RV, a bobtail, 3 cars and vanlifer spent the night without incident. safe area. loud sweeper at 2 AM. A bit of good neighbor advise: Do not park RIGHT NEXT to another overnighter. Do not park and idle your engine with your exhaust pipe directed at someone. If you run your generator, have a barking dog, or smoke pot, do not park anywhere near someone.

Small village where you can charter a small wooden motorboat for crossing to Anyanui.
Only for bicycle or very little moto.
I oaid 200cedi, but they told me it is normally 300cedi.
Ask around in the village for a guy to sail you across.
On marketdays there is apparantly a bigger boat.

The river is currently (04/2024) completely flooded. Also the campground was partly flooded. They offered for us to use the facilities in one of the rooms as camping facilities were flooded. Paid 10USD pppn for camping which we thought was a lot considering that it’s off season. Paid an additional 10 USD pp for dinner and breakfast which was just Chips-Mayai in the evening and Bread and Eggs in the morning. Way overpriced!

Watching the hippos in the river was nice.

changed cfa to naira here - if you are at the petrol station it's the line of stalls opposite it (closest)

3 ladies dealt with me and rate for 1000cfa was initially 1180 naira I think though it wasn't clear. I mentioned the official rate being 1870 Naira to 1000cfa and we settled on 1800 to 1000

very sweet ladies, spoke some English and overall a very simple exchange. Some wooden seats and a parasol to sit under to whilst completing the transaction

Pulled in about 11pm. Spent a quiet night here and left about noon the next day. A few vehicles came and left through the morning but it was peaceful. Slight road noise but nothing to keep me up. Would stay here again. There’s also a few pull offs along the road following the river and a couple of other lots along it that would probably work. Beautiful area! No views from the parking lot.

We spent a long stay in Sucre, a very beautiful city. We found this point to be very quiet, safe, there is drinking water, the lady in charge of gardening provides it to you, she is very kind. her (but she doesn't like them taking the water without her permission because the water faucet has a system that doesn't work for any type of hose and they have already damaged it). This plaza is very close to the SAS supermarket where there are several ATMs, movie theaters, and good bathrooms without showers. This point is also close to the main square or historic center. This city is to walk around and enjoy, in addition to eating very well. You can leave the motorhome here, it's safe. Ideal place for those traveling with children and dogs.

Was not able to stay here. Asked one of the guards on duty and he told me no. I even asked if I could stay in the gravel lot behind the gas station and that was a no as well.

there were cones and tape up, and a big big pile of sand blocking the beach, not sure if they're doing work on the area or if it's always like that. could still turn in here, I parked for a few minutes but didn't feel comfortable to stay overnight.

Worthwhile stop for $6pp, especially if you’ve been wild camping and need to soak a week’s worth of dirt off. If you arrive right at opening, you’ll have 30 min or so more or less to yourself. We went Monday morning and it was pretty busy, so don’t expect a tranquil oasis. There are like 15 different pools of different temperatures, inside and outside, washrooms, showers, restaurant a nice picnic tables by the river. The little shantytown that’s built around the entrance gave us dodgy vibes, so I would suggest paying for secure parking ($2 for the day we paid). I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to stay the night in the big parking lot, but there’s a much nicer spot just a few minutes up the road.

Great, quiet night. Plenty of space, access to the river, lit up at night. I think we saw a little security booth with a guard 100m away, felt very safe. 5 min drive to the thermals.

additional information:
- insurance 82 JOD for a small van, 84 if you pay with card
- you need 20 JOD cash for the TIP car paper. Two exchange offices are right at the border. We changed USD into JOD for the official rate online.
- sim cards available but we got better rates in town (smallest data package 40 GB for 13,6 JOD or 120GB for 16,5 JOD)
- signes that drones are forbidden, they didn't find ours (checked the car and our bags for 5 minutes)
