karol22582 | There's a lot of beautiful pull offs with views for days along this road. Very quiet, not a single car drive by once the sunset. Good cell site too! |

Granger nicolas | we spent 5 great days at Misfits, the place is really ideal for relaxing, everything is basic but the atmosphere is really cool. the shower is ok, the kitchen helps out well, plenty of places to relax and direct access to the sea. perfect for the price of 20S for two, it's unbeatable. Already the second time we come and we are never disappointed. the two pluses are a free access bodyboard and Jaimie, the owner who is adorable, is doing his best to rebuild this place. |

joyouscriticism96 | I was referred to this place by the US Park police who patrol the neighboring area (the Presidio) and Crissy Field. They said that they had witnessed RVs parking in this lot and did not think that the store would mind. I confirmed this with the security guard at the Safeway and he also said it would be OK to park and sleep in the parking lot. In fact, there were a lot of cars that were parked here overnight with people sleeping inside. My guess is that this was a popular place for Uber drivers. It’s a busy area, but the location is very good and I felt safe. I was in a van. |

pitzkitz | I stayed here last night, just a gravel lot with electric hookups that were off and some water hookups I didn't try. This is a nice park with playground and swimming pool so I doubt it would be very quiet in warmer weather but it was a nice spot to get some rest. Running water in the bathrooms, hot water in the sink. Electric outlet in there if you needed to charge your phone ect... Covered picnic tables, grills and fire pits. I only saw one other person walking their dog but it's been chilly and raining. |

TheCanadianChrises | This is the best place to van or tent camp while surfing or visiting Punta Mango. Carmelo’s beach-front location is directly on the long, sandy, beautiful beach attached to the short and rocky beach of Punta Mango. He owns a few large palapas with hammocks, tables, chairs, outdoor showers, and a flushing toilet. A 2-minute walk down the beach is an empty sandy lot he is developing with a friend for camping. Currently you drive onto the beach and then into his lot. You can also use his facilities and hangout spot. However, they are in the process of building a road directly onto the lot to cut out the beach drive. The current road onto the beach is definitely 4x4 required. Getting down was pretty easy, but we needed 4x4 and airing down our tires to get back up in our Sprinter van. You can’t drive the beach at high tide. It was $5 USD/night per person. The pin is marking where our van was parked. To get there, drive down the “Punta Mango Access Road” that has the Punta Mango Hotel and Restaurant at the end. The lot will be on your right before you reach the hotel. It might have a gate, so text Carmelo on WhatsApp to let him know you are coming! +503 6860 3836. This will likely become unnecessary when the road is finished being built. We checked out Cielo y Mar (another iOverlander location nearby), but it was more of a dusty parking lot on the rocky beach (with less nice facilities). We much preferred the beautiful beach set-up. See photos. |

relevantjewel07 | Prices seem fixed:
We wanted to stay in the dormitory, but we got told that it's not available at the moment. Not sure why. We ended up staying in a double room with fan. Room had a basic ensuite bathroom:
Wifi available, which was actually fairly decent.
Overall a pretty okay place. |

Alveto Expedition | We wanted to update the comments below as they are not accurate. For 200 Leones which is more expensive than the proper campsites around, you get only a parking space for your car in front of the beach (at the car park). The salty shower is outside the building without any privacy, right in front of the bar/restaurant area, surrounded by the tables and obviously people can see you, including the stuff that is happy to watch the show. The toilets are 1 male and 1 female, shared also by the stuff members and all the clients. There is no electricity and the water 6 months a year is salty from the borehall, so not suitable to fill up your tanks. Moreover, while we were having dinner, a few men and woman were coming nearby to piss, right in front or next to us ... There is a lot of room for improvement and we discussed this issues with the owners, so they dropped the price to 150 leones, because of the inconveniences we had. The place itself is beautiful and quite compared to what's available around but do keep these things in kind before coming here. Also the road to get here, around 2 km is a bit bumpy off road. You can pay 300 to have access/use of a bathroom in a room for more privacy if available. Check the prices and the facilities before agreeing to a price/staying. Despite all of this, the owner was reasonable and it's a good standard for "Africa". |

relevantjewel07 | we hitchhiked from St Louis to Dakar and passed by 3 corrupt police checkpoints along the way. Every time it went the exact same:
Our driver would then put 1000 CFA (€1.50) inbetween some papers, get out of the car and walk over to the police officer to hand him the papers. Police officer takes the papers, takes out the money and then hands the paperwork back to our driver after which we were free to go Our driver explained that "this is just how things go in Africa" and that if you don't give them some money they'll find something wrong with your car and fine you instead. I'm not saying you should start bribing police officer, just sharing our experience of how we've seen locals deal with these corrupt check points. Funnily enough none of the checkpoints seemed to care about us being in the car, they didn't even ask for our passports. |
