Stopped here. It was little out of the way. It was raining so I had to use all wheel drive on 4runner to get here. great views of Laguna. Only drawback was that there were top many mosquitoes. Headed out of here asap. Great sunset though.

Checked it out to see if I liked it. I did not care about the beach, too rocky. Also, you have to cross a small stream, in rainy season it can be an issue if not 4x4. Spot is secluded though.

Called for permission, no problem. Large lot, several RV/Bus spots, all pretty level. Some highway noise that turned into white noise. Good Verizon signal. Good spot for the night.

Camping on sand with a hill incline. Ablutions okay. Own braii. No wash up area. Wifi available at camp. Able to use hotel pool and restaurant. Was nice to be on the outskirts of town.

Beautiful archaeological site, I recommend. The cost is 10 sol for adults and 5 sol for children. To come here the track passing through Luya and Cohechan is in good condition. The people in the village are very welcoming.

We didn't see the dirt road going to the river. I think the old access is now on a private property with barriers.

They now charge 200 pesos per person per night. We asked friendly as we read that only 2 weeks ago others paid 150 pesos per night. but they still would like to have 200 (even if we arrived with two vans) We didn't stay as this seems to be just random pricing.

Absolutely fantastic food - very well cooked tandoori chicken with the best chips we’ve had in Africa. Lovely, friendly people. Price is 12,000sh for two huge pieces of chicken, a mountain of chips and a side salad. Locals say that has been the price for over a year, not changed

Cyclist: I could camp under the roof on the left end of the buildings. It's around the corner and protected by a little wall so normally nobody will see you. Traffic at night was ok. One of the very friendly workers gave me the wifi key. Toilets, no shower.

In Leoncito there are two observatories. This one, which by now (3/2024) does night visits every day of the week (check https://oafa.unsj.edu.ar/ for Details and booking). the other is CASLEO (https://reservascasleo.com/) where night tours are offered from Friday to Monday. we did the first: 5000 ARS for extranjeros. good explanations about the sky, the Stars and astrophysics (whatever you want to know). friendly and competent guy, Tour in Spanish! there are 3 tourist telescopes. maybe not soooo impressive. during day visits you get to see the scientist's telescop. the less moonlight, the better, obviously!

The RN41 is one of the most beautifuls roads we drove so far.

But don’t drive it with 2WD in autumn/ winter (maybe spring as well).

We were lucky, that it was a sunny day and the muddy road was mostly dry. If it would have been a little bit wetter, we would got completly stuck. No other car when we were driving the road, no reception.

We made it all the way here with a 2wd Ford Galaxy. It is a bit rough but not that bad. At this spot we met other travellers with a 4wd so we parked here and went further with them in their cars. It turned out thay we had already made it past the worst part and could have continues further. The black sand, or more of a gravel, is never too deep if you stick to the main road and and always choose the option of driving around a hill instead of up. We hiked back to our car here from the spot they camped at (5km further) and stayed here for the night. there are just camels roaming around and their sheperd

Apparently, here they sell drinkable water 3 stages filtered. 70 niara for 25lt. look for the motowash and big black tanks. We took it, and it seemed very clear, but for safety, we re- fitered it.

This is a wonderful place to stop for the night. This park is tidy, with picnic tables, shelters, and barbecues. The sites are level. At this time of year, the toilets are closed. What a great free stopover! Thanks San Jon!

It’s paved road now, worth the 5 minute detour. Pit toilet. You can camp over night. Federal road passed a right to housing law which covers parks. Judge said you must leave in morning. Google the law. No one around, clean. Great view

This spot is partly hidden from the road. Possible to be seen from eastbound traffic during the day but during the night, no one will see you.
Entrance is to the right just before the bridge (coming from west to east). Suitable for any rig but for really big rigs the entrance will be a tight fit.
You might have to level out a little bit but there are heaps of stones to use.
Lots of Puri Puris / Jejen / little biting flies during the day.

We were going westbound and this is by far the best spot we could find after "The pass and the meadows". (2,5 hours from there)
Due to the lower altitude it was nice and warm during the night.

Little to no traffic between 5:30pm to 6:00am (maybe 1 vehicle per hour).

No trash at all. Please keep it like that!

No mobile signal.

4 designated RV/Bus parking spots. I called ahead was told no check in required. Very close to restaurants, grocery store and gas station right off the highway.

Checked in here, the shaded parking lot to the left of the main entrance. Stayed peaceful for the night. Either I had to pay or stay here. Worked out great. Say another overlander who had stayed here for three nights. You can go to tge beach thru the gate or walk up and down on road in front of gate and look for breach in fence. You should be able to get free. Great place, secure and peaceful.

Checked in at the security desk, no problems. The RV parking was nice and quiet. We were the only ones here until morning, in the morning where was also a truck bed camper in the RV spot. Nice clean and quiet spot.

Clean, level and each site has a pic-nic table and a garbage can. It is very loud due to the heavy traffic on the nearby road; the traffic subsides between 11pm and 4am. Good place to spend the night.

In order to reach this place with Google Maps it is best to exit CA13 at the Google Maps spot that is named "Desvio a Rio Zacate". After that follow the gravel road through the fields. About 300 meters before this spot are a few houses. There is a gate, which maybe open or not.
A local person (Omar) collects the entrance fee of 300L per person.
We stayed with our campervan over night at the rather nice/grassy parking lot. It was included in the entry price.

I will add a few new spots in iOverlander.

It is the parking of this Pico Bonito park entrance. Relatively large field, some grass, surrounded by trees.
Weak mobile phone signal. Starlink just okay, with interruptions every few minutes.
We were allowed to stay with our campervan over night, included in the entrance fee of 300L per person.
