Good place to spend the day at. I worked here all day and napped with no problems two days. never even saw a patrol. I didn't risk camping because I saw the reviews so I slept at the Marina. But the same truck has been here both days in the same spot and windows are foggy, so maybe he's staying? I don't know but it's a great spot to hang out if you need to work or relax during the day. nice view, good short trail to take a little walk/hike. Okay Verizon

The few kms to get here are really bumpy and bad, it will take you at least half an hour but once you reach the monastery, it will be another world. Quite, peaceful, and secure. We stayed 3 nights and knowing the prices around, to pay 150k per person with 3 good and delicious meals included, is not bad at all. Also, you can fill up your water here, they have a 60m deep borehole with clean water. In the room during the day it is a bit hot and you only get a fan but it is very clean and simple. It is nice to recharge your batteries and try some food cooker by the sisters, which, by the way make their own mangoes and pineapple wine, sirops and marmalade, yogurt. The nuns will be very happy if you will attend at least once daily a mass with them for respect. After all, this is a monastery and not a hotel.

Tranquil campsite at the east side of the laguna.
During workdays I was alone but holidays and weekends can be more crowded.
It’s a Christian establishment but they don’t urge you to pray or anything ;-)
They have 1 hot shower AFAIK.
Dinner only prepared if groups have to be fed but it is 15 min to Colomi and besides there are some decent restaurants around the lake. You can use the fireplace.

Seems like a former campground directly at the beach, everything was closed but with a rig accessible.

We had a triple room on the first floor with the bathroom outside of the room — but still private.

Check the lake in Marchegg, it is allowed to swim there. I added the place.

You can swim here and it's legal, not like the other one near Baumgarten. Also at the other side near Ungartor it's possible to park your car. As everywhere in Austria, wild camping is forbidden but you know...

Nice place but be careful, three kids on bicycles came from the village and tried to steal our shoes. I was fast enough but we left the place after this experience and went some kilometers to the south. Still a nice view over the valley and still connection with beeline. Take care of the turtles, they're everywhere in the grass! The train runs down in the valley so if you want a quiet night...

Coming from the city, you don't have any restriction.

Great overnight spot off the hwy. far enough so there is no noise. Great views all around. I parked across the road from South Pass sign. Open area that could easily accommodate a big rig, like mine. 5 bars AT&T.

This place doesn’t exists anymore. It is now a resedential place.

We spent a night here, it was very quiet. We use the bathrooms of the parador and the place also has Wi-Fi.

Cars allowed, no signs that you need a permit or something else. No rangers when we were there. We stayed one night as did some locals. Many cars with tourguides and tourists during the day. No campfires allowed.

The road to Uruk is not in the greatest shape, beware of potholes. Last km after passing the gate can get super muddy when wet.

The guards let us in for free. No clue why, he just said normally it is 25.000 but today it is free for you. So lucky us. Pretty interesting place. One guard showed us around. Ziggurat is far gone but still impressive, as are the several tablets with ancient writing. There is also a temple with the blue glazing still on the bricks, amazing. Everywhere you walk you'll see shards of pottery. Well worth the stop, especially for free 😛

Nice camp spot with a fireplace with a view on the sinking trees in the lake. over the weekends, there are also some fishermen camping around the lake, but it's pretty empty. the frogs can be quite loud, though.

Stopped here for lunch after crossing the border. The menu del dia costed 2.75USD pp. The staff was very friendly and nice.
I don’t eat meat. I asked them to serve my soup without it (which they did, without traces off meaty bits) and to replace the meat from the main dish with extra lentils, as they did not have a veggie option.
Food was delicious and the juice was incredible.
Toilets were very clean.

Very nice place. Beautiful sunset. Some walkers and trucks for the neigbough boato ramp. Do not park in the places allocated por boat trolleys. Night eas in complete solence until 5 a.m. when a very loud noise coming from the factory i front wake us. Noise goes on all day. No problem to stay. Police came and just say Hello!

Dry cleaning, drop off. Self service laundry. Good price and good machines.
