The road to Uruk is not in the greatest shape, beware of potholes. Last km after passing the gate can get super muddy when wet.

The guards let us in for free. No clue why, he just said normally it is 25.000 but today it is free for you. So lucky us. Pretty interesting place. One guard showed us around. Ziggurat is far gone but still impressive, as are the several tablets with ancient writing. There is also a temple with the blue glazing still on the bricks, amazing. Everywhere you walk you'll see shards of pottery. Well worth the stop, especially for free 😛

Nice camp spot with a fireplace with a view on the sinking trees in the lake. over the weekends, there are also some fishermen camping around the lake, but it's pretty empty. the frogs can be quite loud, though.

Stopped here for lunch after crossing the border. The menu del dia costed 2.75USD pp. The staff was very friendly and nice.
I don’t eat meat. I asked them to serve my soup without it (which they did, without traces off meaty bits) and to replace the meat from the main dish with extra lentils, as they did not have a veggie option.
Food was delicious and the juice was incredible.
Toilets were very clean.

Very nice place. Beautiful sunset. Some walkers and trucks for the neigbough boato ramp. Do not park in the places allocated por boat trolleys. Night eas in complete solence until 5 a.m. when a very loud noise coming from the factory i front wake us. Noise goes on all day. No problem to stay. Police came and just say Hello!

Beautyfull pass bewteen Dizin and Shemshak. in end of April still much snow on the north side (dizin side) from 3000m up to the top. only possible with bicycle at this time of the year in summer open for every car.

We spent a night here super quiet and safe. During the day and until 9pm there are people in the square, very friendly. The police are 100 meters away.
Good place to leave the vehicle and go out to explore the town.
There is water in the square and they told us it was drinkable. we recommend! free.

Beautiful area to camp, but the 3-4 miles of brutal washboard roads coming in sucked. No need for high clearance or anything, just have to survive the long, slow, bumpy ride in.

Nice hot showers, still operational as of May 2024! Open daily till 5pm

Nice free campground, great views. Spaces were full by mid afternoon on a weekday. The road to get here is pretty wash boarded so watch out for that. The tunnels you get to drive through are really neat.

Beautiful campground with a lot of trees and shadow. It's very quiet. I recommand.

We asked Walmart customer service and they told us « you can stay here for the night but it’s at your own risk, you can be towed ». We took our chance and no one bothered us.
But I must say, as previously mentioned, that the train nearby is VERY loud. Especially between midnight and 1AM it was impossible to sleep. It’s not a regular train but a huge industrial wagon that went back and forth just in front of the parking lot. I don’t if it’s something temporary or if it’s the same every night.

This is not the right Baltinache laguna. See more one southwest. Don’t go. It is not really nice here.

Putting this place on a map because there is absolutely nothing around here when it comes to wild camping.
Lots of private properties, but this opening on the forest is well hidden from the road, has a flat ground to pitch a tent, it’s quiet and dark at night with only sounds of the river and insects.
Place for 2-3 tents
Downside is that only Motos and bicycles can go around a pile of rocks that blocks the path

I circled this town for 30 minutes while looking for a clean, quality restaurant and stumbled across this shop.
They have great bakery with tasty sweets downstairs (along with groceries/wine) and awesome buffet restaurant upstairs that is open at 11:30am
Place is spotlessly clean, staff is greatly accommodating and prices are fair. Paid around 10$ for a huge plate of food and a can of soda
Highly recommend if you’re in town

Too expensive to see 15 flamengos!!!! 8000 pp between 7-11Y: 4000. Don’t really expect to see a lot. Little trail 40 min but nothing else. And 60km for this!…

Nice little campsite at the lakeshore. 45 usd in summer/30 usd low season. Washer and dryer 5 usd in total. Downside is shower cost 5 usd.

The place where I finally found proper tyres. They have modern equipment and surprisingly speak in English and French. Very friendly and professional. Also they do battery replacement, but I not need it and don't ask about
