I've spent 2 nights here so far & no issues. The view is beautiful! There is a large tent a ways past the couch that seems to have been there a while (a bit messy) but I never saw/heard anyone. Another campervan pulled in last night but it's been very quiet otherwise.

Not too level but no big deal. Signal is good (att/tmobile).

Def recommend entering at the entrance near the Jeffery Pine Loop trailhead bc it's not as bumpy.

Also, for folks seeking solar power...I simply drove up to the Jeffery Pine Loop Trailhead during the day. It has a dumpster, much more level, & the trail is fun...there's even a beach with calmer river water you can go swimming/cold plunge in.

in the big square, just a few doors away from Hotel El Shadney. Opens at around 6pm in the evening, not sure if does lunch. varied menu. I had medium pizza, 30 bols. Be warned the Margarita comes with ham. My husband had a burger, with chips, both pretty good, especially the pizza.

Very chill spot, the small road to come down is not fantastic but it’s okay for any vehicle. The spot close to the river is not possible anymore, they have a fence around the soccer field. But atleast here at the soccer field you’re away from the main road.

Unbelievable views, like others said, small mirador but the views are spectacular. I would not advise coming up to the top in your vehicle unless you have a really trustworthy 4x4. The road isn’t too terrible but it’s very steep and even now in the dry season the last 2-3kms were insanely muddy. I parked at Bermejo square and walked up. 1 hour and a half to walk up. 1 hour to walk back down.

Incredible place for overlanders. Any size vehicle easily fits. Perfect open flat green grass, right next to the river. Showers, restaurant, can swim in the river. Also, you are less than 1km from the entrance to Codo de los Andes hike and you can contact William who lives around the corner from the camping to have him take you to the start for only 50bob no matter how many people.

I also went with William and he’s awesome! Charges 50bob to go up no matter how many people. He has a different number than the one that was added by other previous travelers. 67292537 you can also just walk up to his family’s tienda and ask for him

There is space for one camper pickup or a small haul. The space is squeezed between the road and the Bras d’Or lake. Very close to the road, but there is very few traffic. Went for a dip in the lake.

He also has a cabin right near the entrance of the hike and therefore if you go with him you only pay him the 50bob of transport and you don’t even need to pay the trail entrance fee and he said he would like to start offering guided tours deeper into the area near Codo de los Andes because there are giant waterfalls there.

Very well maintained, small but with lots of information as you go along the trail. Worth a stop from samaipata.

I stayed 5 nights here and never had an issue. There are a few dogs but they don’t bother you. The wind can pick up at times but it’s not too bad. I would definitely recommend for people who are self sufficient and looking for a free option. It’s 10 min walking to the town square and restaurants.

Great cafe! Nice food options and coffee is super delicious. Also nice for working if you need a space to sit and work.

Lots of restaurants on the 2nd floor, perfect small stalls selling typical dishes from Bolivia. All 10bob and there is a vegetarian stall which looked good but I did not try it. Perfect cheap option for food all day, not only lunch.

this is like many pull-offs on this road. a large pull through that is not quite level anywhere, but we found a spot that was almost level and it afforded us a great view of the sunset. there aren't many cars going by at night after the border station closes so it was pretty quiet. no facilities

Stayed here for a night with no issues. It’s a gravel lot with some bumps getting to it. I’m assuming you don’t need a permit when it’s the off season. Quiet. Starlink worked.

Blue water spigot was broken but they said they fixed it. I couldn’t figure out how to work it anyways. There are threaded spigots by the bathroom/comfort stations that I used to fill up my RV.

Heading back to the (south) east coast after a road trip to Tofino BC, I could have dropped down into tornado 🌪 alley but reasoned I-90 and I-94 will avoid most of the severe weather risk and cost me less than 100 miles (see update at bottom). I had already decided to do Glacier so, crossing Montana to take in Theodore Roosevelt National Park was a no-brainer. besides, North Dakota is my 49th state and I'll likely my final one (no interest in driving to or in, Alaska).

so in planning my last leg crossing Montana, I checked iOverlander for my plan A, B and C spots once I got to North Dakota. There were several postings for the grass lands and a few in and around Medora. iOverlander us so useful that way.

anyway, cross the North Dakota line at about 5:00 so I thought I better head up on to the grasslands straight away and not go into Medora to look around. Road up is super easy, at least in dry whether, I could see where that Red Dirt could be a real problem during or after a rain. first two spots were snagged and I could see someone all the way at the top so I grabbed what I could which turned out to be the valley view. I think this spot is connected by a road across the ridge to the second spot. there could be some parking opportunities there.

like everyone who is posted before, beautiful views. I've camped on The Wall in South Dakota, The Rim in Arizona and now the Grasslands in North Dakota. Personally, The Grasslands beat out The Wall by far, but The Rim is my favorite.

Tomorrow is Theodore Roosevelt National Park and then back here for a night before booking home. I hope there's a spot available, it's still the weekend.

UPDATE: no running from weather. see pics. winds were 20+, gusting to 35. Tornado warning issued for my location, large hail possible. We're fine.
