Great atmosphere and good food, takes a while though, service is slow. Quite expensive but a place where many expats hang out

One of the quietest places I’ve ever slept. Beautiful area. Wish I had bout a yearly pass, but did register. Thanks Texas tax payers!

A few spots near the river. Cell service is great on Verizon & TMobile. Train track near by, so far no big deal, no blaring horn. 🤞

We arrived here around 1 AM and our intention was to shoot sunrise before the crowds came in. Sunrise was at 7 am. We were there with only 2 other cars. There was noise from the main road but that was because we literally parked right next to the main road since we couldn’t find the area behind the stalls (it was way too dark). Minimal cars drove by. I probably heard or saw 3 cars from 1 to 7 am. THIS IS WHERE THE FORREST GUMP POINT IS!!! Beautiful sunrise. I can imagine that if you came earlier, someone would be patrolling this place but since we came so late, we had zero issues.

Somewhat crowded now and people have left trash behind. Decent cell service.

Two-night stay and we never left the marina. 100 Q/night for 2 adults, 1 child. We were able to park under a tree by a floating dock with a table and chairs, and near the hotel bathroom. One-room bathroom/shower with cold water only. Pool had no water on a Thursday. I think maybe they emptied it to clean before Semana Santa. By Saturday morning, it was full. WiFi worked fairly well. Best at the restaurant. At our parking, it would go in and out, but was still usable. Our son enjoyed the playground by the restaurant. We had several meals at the restaurant. There was usually something wrong with our order, but no big deal. Service was friendly. All in all, a good place to rest after long travel days and handle some heavy rains.

Quick, same-day (3 hours), drop off laundry service. Friendly enough. Like many things in this area, not cheap. $15 for rather small bag! However, 90 degrees and humidity with afternoon rain + being lightly packed while waiting several days for van to ship= desperate for clean, dry clothing.

A great LATE NIGHT spot to hang out, work, get fast internet and chill. French press or kava , kombucha too. They "closed" at 2am, but people hung out until 4am working and talking inside on a thursday.

The GPS is wrong. The Camping for tourists is on the other side of the road at this GPS: 17.756409, -96.31769. 50Pesos p.p. and 50 pesos for a shower in a cabana.

This is still an option in Drake Bay and the police man where very friendly. We thanked them with a chocolate but the better place is the parking lot of Hotel Margarita where also biggwr rigs can fit. But be aware of the bumpy road to Drake Bay.

This is the perfect place to stay in Drake Bay with a bigger rig. It's gravel and leveled. It is free but please, at least go and have somethinf to drink or eat. This will help to have this place also in the future for Overlander! we where allowed to use the pool, restroom and an outdoor shower. Highly recommended but be carefull the road to Drake Bay is not easy with some realy steep slope and bumpy sections. 4x4 is may the best option.

We camped one night here and absolutely loved it. Felt so remote and wild. We paid $20pp (camping and equipment rental to surf down the volcano - we ended up going twice in the evening and in the morning).
The visitor center (1km down the road) has toilets and showers .
Now we made it with our 2wd mercedes sprinter and it was a bit stressful as it's quite sandy at the start, but didn't get stuck so that was nice!
Beautiful birds spotted along the way.

For us this place felt like paradise. Absolute relaxing and great campingsites facing the ocean. If the WiFi doesnt work, you only have to tell the staff, that they can upgrade their bundle - and they will :)! The ocean ist very flat, so we enjoyed the Pool for cooling down!

Still 8$ pppn incl. electricity. Ablutions were not as bad as mentioned in pervious comments (our opinion)...

Would seriously recommend entering the park before the sun rises, hearing the howlers wake up is other worldly.

In winter season only dayuse, we had to leave for the night. In summertime they also fill their swimming pool. Lots of shaded places, BBQ's and bathrooms with showers. Small shops in the village.

Lovely place beside the river. You can either hide in the rear part or park visible near they river. Some people went by in cars, but no one bothered us, all the people arround the village we talked to were open and friendly. Keep the place clean!

Superschöner Platz in der Natur. Wir waren zwei Nächte allein. Schöne Wanderwege. Am besten man ist autark.

Super nice place in nature. We were alone for two nights. Beautiful hiking trails. It is best to be self-sufficient.
