We camped one night here and absolutely loved it. Felt so remote and wild. We paid $20pp (camping and equipment rental to surf down the volcano - we ended up going twice in the evening and in the morning).
The visitor center (1km down the road) has toilets and showers .
Now we made it with our 2wd mercedes sprinter and it was a bit stressful as it's quite sandy at the start, but didn't get stuck so that was nice!
Beautiful birds spotted along the way.

For us this place felt like paradise. Absolute relaxing and great campingsites facing the ocean. If the WiFi doesnt work, you only have to tell the staff, that they can upgrade their bundle - and they will :)! The ocean ist very flat, so we enjoyed the Pool for cooling down!

Still 8$ pppn incl. electricity. Ablutions were not as bad as mentioned in pervious comments (our opinion)...

Would seriously recommend entering the park before the sun rises, hearing the howlers wake up is other worldly.

In winter season only dayuse, we had to leave for the night. In summertime they also fill their swimming pool. Lots of shaded places, BBQ's and bathrooms with showers. Small shops in the village.

Lovely place beside the river. You can either hide in the rear part or park visible near they river. Some people went by in cars, but no one bothered us, all the people arround the village we talked to were open and friendly. Keep the place clean!

Superschöner Platz in der Natur. Wir waren zwei Nächte allein. Schöne Wanderwege. Am besten man ist autark.

Super nice place in nature. We were alone for two nights. Beautiful hiking trails. It is best to be self-sufficient.

there is a gas station with diesel and friendly staff. it's not a busy station but trucks pass by quite often. we tanked here twice both for 600 toman/l. next to the station there is basic car service where you can fix minor things or pump or tires. very friendly owner.

Flying J truck stop with attached Denny’s restaurant. Has an RV dumping station. I’m not sure if there is a cost to dump because we van camp. We’ve been here staying in our Van overnight here off and on for a few weeks. We usually park on the side by the gas station/ convenience store until we’re ready to go to sleep. At this time we park in the parking lot on the Denny’s side. There are usually other overnight campers — some in minivans, sprinters, box trucks, SUVs and cars. We’ve seen them all. Most are stealth but some not so much. This area is right off of I-45 so you are able to hear road noise all night but it’s not too bad and it kind of fades to white noise for us. Be aware that most of the security guards don’t bother you and you can sleep in as you like but there is one in particular that has been coming around to anyone he believes to be camping around 6am when he works. He knocks to wake us up. We asked why one day and he said it was because the general manager for Denny’s comes in around 6am and that he is supposed to to clear the lot before then. However none of the other guards have done this since we’ve been here — just him. The showers are $15 dollars and the water does get very hot. They allow non truck drivers to shower. Just walk up to the front and tell the cashier you need to buy one. The bathrooms are kind of old and only have a couple of stalls each. They’re usually pretty clean but sometimes it’s a miss. ( The bathrooms have seat covers and actual paper towels) If you tell them they’re not clean, they’ll usually send someone to go check them. You can also get free water and ice in store if you bring your own cup/container. This location has an on-site barbershop available until like 2am most days. They don’t have a full kitchen but have some ready made salads and other foods and serve hot pizza by the slice and Cinnabon treats. There are a couple of outlets outside the store where your phone can be charged but it charges slow in my opinion. We’ve felt relatively safe here but like any other city you should still take safety precautions.

Heading west from Aus approx. 20km turn right up the fence line for the national park before the sign. There is a track that will take you along next to the fence. About 200m in a river bed next to the fence with high enough banks to hide a ground tent from the road. Suggested for cyclists as you won’t be visible.

A medium-sized pullout along a fairly quiet road. There aren't any parking restrictions posted. It's on a bit of a slope, but not bad for a night. Gets busy during the day with Bruce Trail hikers, so be respectful to not take up too much space. The hiking trails along the river valley are gorgeous.

Staff let us camp inside the facility with our bikes and we had full 24h access to the pools for 5 soles. Beautiful place and the warm baths were very welcome after a cold descent from the south.

As described before, nice campground, can park close to the toilets, nice view. Hot shower from solar panel so we took a shower in casa piedras where the hot shower is from wood fire.

Concerning the treks, we left the car in the camping, lago chico loop is 24km from the camping. The road is ok if your car is not that wide, only one tricky part almost at the beginning.

The town isn’t much to write home about, but this coffee joint really stands out. Their burritos are US style; a choice of meat with rice, cheese, and salad all wrapped up. They are a decent size too.

They also list pancakes with eggs and bacon which looks pretty good for breakfast.

Other than that there are sandwiches, hamburgers (inc chicken), pasta, and some more local dishes.

I'm site 5, at the end of the road. Site 4 is too close. Came to the backcountry sites to get away from loud talkers and music. Road in rocky and bumpy but nothing difficult. Take your trash including egg shells and coffee grounds with you. And follow the rules for pooping, who wants to look at your pile all summer long. And those that put a rock over it, really. Just follow the rules or they take this remote camping away like so many other places. No fires

Still a very friendly, welcoming and relaxed place. Make sure to call/message ahead, request from Juan.
We planned to stay for one night, didn't quite work out.. Too much stories, mate, parrilla, other travellers and his cute kids to play with our.
Absolute gems Juan and Mariana!

A big house with a nice garden. Lots of different accommodation options from air-con rooms, fan rooms, tent camping and car camping. AC worked great and the room was very clean and had plenty of light. Bathroom and showers were also clean and worked properly.

If you suspect you might have malaria or some other illness, there is a neighborhood clinic with in stumbling distance.

Chloe, the owner is lovely and super helpful. Her son Patrick is also great. There are a few cats and dogs, all are well behaved and are not aggressive.

The place is quite far from Abidjan, so something to consider to if you need to go into the city often. With Yango (taxi app) it's easy to get around, just avoid the rush hours.

Site 167 is awesome! View of lake was beautiful. Today got a little toasty but the site canopy really helped. I’d stay here again for sure before or after the 93 degree highs.

Not working as of 4/7/22. . No handle to pump the water. There is a faucet coming out of the visitor center building- like where you would attach a hose. It works. But I don’t know if it’s potable. Would be fine to use for RV pump probably
