vu.huy0 | Saw a few vans posted up for the night as I went into Walmart. Later, securities informed me to park closer to Michael’s. Plenty of parking under trees. |

Wyld Eagle Adventures | They attached an additional jerry can for us, and I was impressed with their fast and very professional work, with a lot of attention to detail: Welding a few spots to make the holder we had stronger, painting it to make it look nice, silicone to make sure the hole is waterproof... Highly recommended, if they can fit it in their busy schedule. Very reasonably priced. |

raileycrews | Description is just as everyone said. Good cell service (verizon), right on the river so pretty views, and there's even a portapotty at the end of the lot you can use. Definitely recommend if you're tired from travel and need a place to crash. we were the only ones here all night |

Snow & Curt | PERFECT spot to park overnight in Jaen. Easy to grab a mototaxi to head to Centro for sim cards after crossing the border. Felt very safe... this was confirmed by two mototaxi drivers. Level, quiet, right by the river... so it's even pretty (on one side anyway)! Easy to get in and out... even ok for bigger rigs (we are 23 feet long and 10 feet high). EDIT: We ended up here two nights while waiting on SOAT for our van... no one minded and it was a peaceful two nights. |

Snow & Curt | Super easy to exit Ecuador. 10 minutes... kind agents! Very informal. Park on the side of the road... go to immigration first to get stamped out .. then turn in your tip to the aduana. If you have stickers... the aduana office loves them! Once finished, they will lift the gate and drive across the bridge to the Peru gate. We have two cats and no paperwork required to exit. FYI... the road from Vilcamamba is slow and bumpy... but we were traveling when there was no significant rain so it was very doable in our sprinter van. It starts out paced with spots of dirt or asphalt failure... then 51 km north of the border it turns to dirt. There are narrow spots, washouts, and slides... but it is maintained quite well. During the rainy season I think the road would be MUCH WORSE! We are super happy that we chose to go this route! |

michael.ingmanson | Beach/cliff side primitive camping. Turn off the paved road and follow signs for “Gooseberry Cove Trail”. Access road is narrow and rough. Accessible by SUVs and vans, anything larger is not advised. Cellular coverage is available but weak. |

Snow & Curt | Super easy and fast! Park vehicle on the bridge just before Peru gate.... Walk thru pedestrian gate about 100 feet to the immigration office... Just outside of the immigration office is the covid checkpoint. we showed him our passports & vaccine cards.... he documents them in a ledger and then gives you a small piece of paper to take to immigration.... next walk into the immigration office... here you get your Peru passport stamp... they fingerprint and take your picture.... then head to the aduana office (right next door and signed well)... you need drivers license, title, and passport... they briefly checked out the van. We travel with 2 cats, during vehicle inspection we were asked for proof of vaccination for the cats.... they checked the dates of vaccines right there in the van and we were good to go. No special paperwork for the pets. Vehicle insurance is required for Peru, but you cannot purchase it here... we were instructed to drive to Jaen for insurance and we were told we would have no issues as long as Jaen was our first stop. The whole process only took 45 minutes! Note: a previous post suggests getting insurance online. We tried to do this, but you cannot with a USA passport. They require other ID numbers... I THINK that maybe any resident of South America might be able to use the website. The website is good... and worth a try! |

Nurse Nomadic | Very nice and well-kept National Forest campground on Lake Kaibab. The lake is more like a big mud puddle but it's still nice to camp near the water. We chose a site all the way in the back near the lake (loop C, site 44) and the place was nearly deserted. Granted, this was a Tuesday right after Memorial Day but still, it was very relaxing and quiet. Directions at the entrance say to proceed directly to your site if you have a reservation or to select a site and pay afterwards without a reservation. The camp host came by about an hour after we arrived to make sure we were good and ask if we needed anything. Campground is a mix of large pull-through sites and back-in sites, all paved, with a separate and maintained picnic area featuring cast concrete tables and metal fire rings. Unfortunately we arrived during a very high fire risk time so fires weren't allowed. Despite what other reviewers have said, it's not closed and day use only. It's a *seasonal* campground, like most, and isn't open in February when that genius was here. *rolleyes* |

PenguinTraveller | Nice place directly on the lake. The lodge houses look very nice, but we stayed there with our camper, so no insight in the lodge. Enough space for a lot of campers or tents. Toilets are available very close to the camping area. Not sure about shower, as we didn't use it. Toilet very clean. For extra charge they will serve you a really good breakfast. Wifi is really good, I even had reception on the beach. We paid 25 per person. |

@alyvanblake | after driving down this road hoping to find a free spot overlooking the lake, which we didn't find, there is a small 50m spur off to the west that overlooks the pine forest and a beautiful green valley below. this spur is kind of off camber at the entrance but there is a nice flat spot for a couple of cars or 1 large van at the end. don't bother going down the road across from the main road here. it doesn't go anywhere and no where to camp, I tried. only 1 truck drove by in the early morning. we caught a guy walking back to the asphalt and said he worked at a farm further up the road that we should stay at, but we were already packing up to leave. |
