The spot is simply magical. Little wind, the water is hot the road to come beautiful. Tips: Advancing a little further on the beach to be even better placed (the sand is hard and the tide does not rise too high) just perfect! I recommend a 4x4

We arrived at about 10:10 pm. The signs at the pay station say 24 hours, but when you use the pay station it only lets you pay by the hour ($5), 4 hour max. It also expires at 3 am. So no overnight parking. We went next door and payed $20 to park in the Holiday Inn parking lot overnight.

Great hot showers! Lockers are quarter operated and washrooms have both a group shower and private changing / shower stalls.

Agreed. Very good. Can be very crowded around noon, especially on weekends. They too make delivery. Parked our bikes directly in front across the street and could watch them while enjoying lunch.

Fine lot, pretty dark and flat. A few car sleepers, but no other RV/vans. Would return.

As described. Nice little town. We stayed 2 nights. Met a few locals. Everybody was very friendly. Don’t miss Mountain Bliss Bakery right around the corner. The scones are fantastic! Also recommend Dewey’s Burger and Fish Co. up the hill. The Montana Huckleberry Burger was delicious.

At the very end of Winegar Rd in Greenfield Ohio, past Crestview Furniture and some horses and a “Road Closed 500 Ft” sign, there is a circle in the woods off the road, before the gate to private property. There is a clear path through the woods to the river (see terrain map). Seems like it could be a local’s access to the river? No cars came by and had a pleasant night over. Absolutely no phone signal.

Arrived around 9pm, the employee at subway were cleaning, ask if it was okay to sleep here. Very friendly and nice said it was okay, just need to park near the road. Not to much noise. Left at 5:30 for sunrise. Ok night but very cold.

We were parked beside this restaurant and Freddy, the owner offered us 2 big portions of pizza, filled with ham, mushrooms and mozzarella on the top. You can buy an entire pizza or just one portion!! Don't know about prices because it was a gift for us :) Very delicious and also the dough, very tasty and crunchy. We also asked him for wifi (very fast)and refilled our water bottles in the restaurant!! super friendly.

Super buena onda.

Go here. Seriously!

This family has given us one of the most stand-out hospitality experiences in South-America. Fellow Overlanders in Ecuador recommended coming here and as soon as we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms.

They love Overlanders and have build facilities (toilet, shower, cooking area, wifi etc.) you need behind there beautiful house, to ensure that you have everything you need. They offered delicious local food, but we also offered to cook for the family and spend a day with the kids at the nearby laguna and the supermercado.

It is just so nice to have a proper home and family feeling for a few days, when being long away from home and you kind of naturally feel at home here :)

We spent two great nights here. Peaceful and quiet. We checked out the gas station up there road first then came here. I’m not sure why anyone would stay at the gas station as this place is just down the road and is far superior and cheaper at Q35 for two people in a van.
We have a flat place to park that is well off the highway so it’s quiet at night and there are two covered shelters here for shade and protection from rain. The beautiful river is just a few steps away from the parking area and there’s 24/7 security so it’s a safe place to leave your rig while you go visit Semuc Champey. One of the tour guides for the caves( Carlos speaks English) will arrange to have a 4x4 come right to your rig at whatever time works for you (8am, 9am, 10am etc) to get you for the trip to Semuc.
There’s a tap, drop toilets and several garbage cans. Oh, did I mention how quiet it is at night? Bonus!

Very large space suitable for trailers. A large island in the middle offers good intimacy from the road. The place is connected to othe campsites near the bridge. Fire pit that shows activity

Really great views of the reservoir. Tons of carp in the water. Campground gets pretty busy on the weekends but really nice and quiet on weekdays.

once was provincial park now managed for off roading, not suggested for vehicles not equipped with 4x4 off road capabilities. Beautiful, wild spot on the lake.

There were so many campers/rvers/over landers in this lot. Not really any great spaces to stay because of all the people. one of the campers told them the police told them to camp there. I went inside & was able to use restroom, brush teeth & change. Not too bad. parking lot was bright from all the lights

One of several small, self-service laundromats on the island. Inside a blue container building with 4 washers and 4 dryers. Unattended so pay with card at a small stand inside. If you don’t overload the machines they work very well. Listed as 10kg capacity. 17-18 R each machine used. So luxurious to use a dryer!!

Short, steep hike with a rewarding, beautiful view of the island coast from some impressive giant boulders that you will want to climb up and around to get the best views. We walked from nearby camping, but looks like there are a few places to park at the bottom.

Basic campground. Clean bathrooms and showers. Host wanted to charge us R35 PP which we thought was too much, he saw our hesitation and said R20 PP which was fair for this place. Downside, too many bright lights at night, noise from the road and LOTS of mosquitoes.

Beautiful spot, stayed two nights. Renting Kayaks for $10pp and paddling up to the laguna was one of the wildlife highlights of several months on the road. Unbelievable array of birdlife, + caiman. If you are a bird nerd don't miss this. Otherwise, beautiful sunset spot and friendly owner. paid 100c pp for first night, but not for the second, though we did rent the kayaks 2 days in a row.

If you like to buy some cheese or yoghurt, this could be the place for you. They also sell marmalade and coffee beans. You can also stop for a coffee (simple automat) and piece of homemade cake. We enjoyed our break there.

Bad road with some really hard wash board. But I don’t think that you could get stuck or loose the track. Anyway despite the hard washboard and the local dumping station close to Ica the last 20-25 km are very scenic. On the last Kilometer to the beach are some dunes on the track.

Nice large pebble beach, plenty of space and easy to spread out. There are a few spots of loose sand but nothing terrible. The road in is still washboard but slow driving gets you there without issues.

This beach is not the best for swimming because of the surge, but still very refreshing.
