Beautiful spot. Stayed one Saturday night and multiple spots still available. Rustic stone fire pits. Saw some sites with tables too. River at the end of the road. We had no problems with a 25 ft RV.

Zeze was very welcoming, but we didn't contact in advance.
We had the whole place for ourselves and decided to park in the "garage" building, because of some rain at night and this was the best flat spot we saw.
Toilet with toilet paper and cold shower.
Hot shower in another building 10Soles, potable water and electricity to charge phones etc. in the bathroom. Some Bitel signal depending on location.
Zeze organized a Taxi for us to get to the harbor for a Tour to the Uros. Contact Demetrio: +51 951 300 582 via Whatsapp or call.
Would recommend staying there, even if the road is in a bad shape, we did it in our VW T3 without 4x4, might be tricky to leave after rain without 4x4.

We went up with our 2WD 4ton campervan and managed just fine. Unfortunately, the road after the first Laguna looked too steep for a non 4x4 (not sure though), so we didn’t go there. And for rigs like us; don’t turn immediately left when seeing the greenish sign Balcón del Pissis, but take the turn a bit further at the edge of the Laguna, it’s way easier and less bumpy.

Anna was our agent in Cartagena. The communication was very good. Everything was very simple and clear and very fast. We can only say thank you and recommend her.

careful of coyotes and rattlesnakes. we had coyotes one of the three nights we were there (during bedtime) and our cat led us to a small rattlesnake at dusk one night. loved how safe and clean this spot was.
go in to check out the second, third or 4th spot to see what works best for you and your rig.

quiet little spot off the road. not far from the 401. it’s been raining a lot here and the ground is very, very soft. there are tracks that are clear people have gotten stuck here recently. if you’re in a heavy rig and the ground is soggy, park closest to the trees. by the road it gets mushier.

This spot is now closed to motor vehicles due to littering. There’s still a few spots to pull off and park along the road you just can’t park down by the water anymore

Nice hostel with clean rooms and shared bathroom. We paid 20$ per person, including breakfast and dinner. Food was good and not too less. When we arrived there was no electricity. But if there is, you can have a hot shower. The daughter speaks English very well. They also have a little shop where you can buy snacks and soda drinks, unfortunately no water.

Mechanics district in Adana. We stopped for a problem with our Mercedes. Hussein, the Mercedes specialist mechanic, is very efficient and knows his job very well. Everything was perfect. Hospitality, kindness, speed.

Nice place, and friendly owner Esso.
We payed CFA12000 for a room.
Esso arranged the “Sim-Guy” and payed 2000cfa for sim and 1000cfa for 1gb. Also the “Money-guy” came to the Hotel and changed my last Nigerian Naira’s. I lost some money, but that is okay. For USD to CFA I lost about 10% from bank rates, but I think it is normal in this remote region. Get the cash you need, and drive to Bafousam Ecobank to get cash from the ATM at normal bank rates.

Moz to Zim

Mozambique side was easy and fast, just an exit stamp and had to give back the TIP, 5 minutes.

Zimbabwe side took over an hour even if we were alone at first. Problem was that we only had Euro with us and no USD or Rand. The entry visa is 30$ and after he confirmed with his boss we paid 30€ each. Then he filled out a few receipts and the sticker and put it in our passports. Then we went into the customs office where we presented our Carnet. After explaining how it works it was filled out and we didn’t have to pay for the TIP. Then we had to pay for the Carbon tax and like before she had to call her boss if it’s okay to pay in Euro. Cost was 20$ and we paid 20€ in the end. So better to bring USD, but if you bring Euro you have to have the exact amount as they can’t and won’t change.

bivouac in the small village of Socapampa. the surrounding buildings appear abandoned, but there is a water tap and electricity in the buildings. The access track is quite narrow, barely passable with our 15 ton 4x4 truck. from this bivouac it is less than a kilometer to access the socapampa waterfall via the suspension bridge which is not in very good condition. We spent a quiet night, the area is very pretty.

socapampa waterfall. Very pretty waterfall, not very high, but which follows layers of land which make the environment very pretty and particular. Fairly short hike from the small village of Socapampa, less than 1 km using the suspension bridge which is not in very good condition. the access track to socapampa is narrow and a little rocky, to be avoided if your vehicle is low or with a large overhang.

Tomas Katari Chataquila Church and Theater. large area next to the church where you can camp without any problem. the buildings seem abandoned and the area is quiet. a few meters further there is the start of the Inca Trail.

église et théatre tomas Katari chataquila. grande zone à côté de l'église où vous pouvez sans problème faire un bivouac. les batiments semblent abandonnées et la zone est tranquille. quelques mètre plus loin il y a de début du chemin des incas.

Inca Trail, this paved anti-Hispanic path was used by the Incas to transport goods on the backs of llamas. you can do this hike of approximately 4.5 km with an elevation gain of approximately 600 m. If you go from the other side of the Inca Trail, they ask for 20 bowls per person.

Long gravel pullout. There is one tent camping spot that was occupied next to the pullout, but sleeping in my van on the other end couldn't hear each other over the river noise. Some fishermen coming and going on the weekends but absolutely beautiful scenery and the river sounds great. No service at all. Separated from the highway enough you barely hear anything. Would recommend.

Loved this spot. Yes it is windy but the views and seclusion are great. Seen a toucan, some monkeys, some capybara and lots of cows! There's fish in the little pond next to the sites. Bathrooms were nice with hot showers. Cute walking trails that lead to a waterfall with no water in it 😂 but still cool. 5000pnpp
