Big pull off on BLM land. Big flat space good for larger rigs. Road is steep and windy but wasn’t an issue in our ram promaster. This site has a great view of the valley below and is very quiet. Only one car has passed in the past 24hrs. There are other pull offs (see BLM red mountain spot) but this one was much larger, has sun, and space to deploy starlink.

Great place! Unique opportunity to experience the Fakcha Llakta community from up close. The village is a lot of fun and the forest and waterfall are great too. I went there every day for a week. They still do a Temazcal every month, sometimes more. Recommended.

To access the campground you need to take another road to the back. I’ll put a new campground sign over there. I entered with a big old German firetruck without any problems (3,6m high, 8m long).

Honest feedback … Creepy place … I drove in & parked on a Monday 7:30pm; 6 various trucks and cars with people hanging around (no vans or RVs). Guy walked right up to my passenger window & would not leave. He just kept staring in after I politely told him I was just getting directions off my phone. I left immediately.

Unlike the comments below (maybe it’s because of the off season), it’s definitely not the prettiest, cleanest or best well maintained campground. But it has all the facilities you need and Adrian is super friendly and only charged us 2000 pesos for two person and a motorhome (not too many spots though and not suited for big rigs). Which is the cheapest of our 5 months of traveling through Chile and Argentina so far. Most campsites or hostels even charge you more for just a shower.

Day use is $10 per vehicle ($20 on weekends during summer) and is 6 or 7am until 9pm. It has a nice beach area with flush toliets, sinks, recycling, & trash. Huge parking spots as it's intended for boats. The Pacific Crest Trail goes right near as well, so beautiful hikes around the lake.

Coin showers in the camping area that are actually hot (takes a while to warm up). $2 to get started and 0.50 a minute. Picture is of shower area (smaller parking).

TA Truck Stop wanted $18 a single shower.. so this was actually cheaper. Plus legal dispersed camping is right off of FR 2N59

This is actually a rec site a couple of km up a gravel forest road, manageable but slow. Took one look at the site and turned around. It's basically just a muddy turn-around, at least it was when we went in April. With the other comments made about wildlife, I definitely wouldn't go here in a tent. Wouldn't recommend it for vehicles either unless in a pinch.

What a great place to overnight at. Amazing view over Popayán. Delicious menu. Great ambiance. Looks like José is developing it even more.
Also, there is super cute looking cabins to stay in too.
José was so accommodating.

Awesome 15km loop to see five archeological sites and a great museum.
Wellington boots would be ideal footwear to walk the loop, especially on or after a rainy day.
65,000 Cop for foreigners. Only accept cash/ no debit/ credit cards.
Super welcoming and friendly staff.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to park in the car park overnight, but the hotel up the road kindly let us park there for the night.

WOW. What an amazing campsite. Possibly my favorite place four months into our panamerican voyage. Good value for the amazing views and beautiful clean grounds. So much fun was had jumping off the dock and SUPing to the neighboring towns. Great hosts, great guests and residents to hang out with, all around great vibes. I hope to be back someday!

Smaller rigs only. A family with a long wheel base sprinter was turned around by the transit police as getting through San Marcos can be a challenge. Very steep road coming in.

Large gravel/rock pullout that includes 3 distinct spots that can be used for camping. Two of them have rock firepits right now. Can fit up to a midsized motorhome. Longer vehicles or trailers might have trouble squeezing in. The spot is right on the river, with fairly easy foot access to it. There isn't much traffic at night, so road noise isn't bad. Most of the official campgrounds in this valley are almost as close to the road as this pullout, so road noise would be similar at them. There is also an informal boat launch here, but it's pretty rough and rocky. 2 bars of AT&T service, so it's slow.

Just like other reviews! Super nice folks inside, we confirmed we’re good to sleep here they just don’t want to be liable for break-ins. There are cameras and towing signs so probably a good idea to check in with them and eat breakfast before you go :) not many places to sleep around here, Victorville has No RV parking signs as you get off the highway so don’t want to lose this spot!
