Good and safety place. If you stop near the bathrooms, you can reach Wi-Fi from the hotel (ask the password friendly guys). Taps to take water behind the bathroom. We recommend.

Restaurant, bar and hotel (rooms are 10k-15k shillings) overlooking Nairobi National Park. You have to walk over a suspension rope bridge to get to the place. It’s set in what used to be Rolf Schmidt’s house - a German guy who had a pizza place in town and represented Kenya in many sports at the international level. Place is a bit run down and we only had sodas And fries (100 shillings per soda and 200 for fries), but the rope bridge is pretty cool and it’s nice to overlook Nairobi NP. Service was really fast. It’s next to kitengela glass factory.

After reading the other post we wanted to make sure we could park overnight so we went into the adjacent museum and found the person in charge the government owned parking lot. After some discussion he agreed and we stayed. There are many nice restaurants nearby and the beautiful city lite up after dark. We returned to the parking lot at 20:00hrs and the guard locked the gate. The was some large and small caliber shooting in the early evening in the surrounding neighborhood but it all settled down after midnight and was very quiet the rest of the night. There is a height restriction on the gate of approximately 3.5m.

A great place. Expensive at AR480/pp. Wifi AR100/hr. Good 4G with Claro though. Owner states it is open all year.

This is a Walmart parking lot. It is camper friendly. When I stayed here there were a few other camper vans, an RV, and three semi trucks. Quiet with no trouble.

----------

Parking next to the supermarket. Being on a street there is no way for commerce to prohibit. Some trucks also sleep locally. Very safe place for all Motorhome sizes. Only downside is that it is 25 minutes walk to the historic center.

As of today Gasoline/Petrol/Nafta 95 was Ar$72.19. Ouch. That's 25% mark-up on current "normal" prices of around Ar$56.95. Someone in town told me they called cards, but when I asked it was cash only. Double whammy of neg for foreign tourists.

ok spot. not a really beautifull viw but we went there for a night and it was ok. it's noisy during the evening, people are coming here with beers and music, but they didn't disturb us and we didn't feel unsafe. During the night, no traffic and no noise, we slept well. So it's good if you want to make a stop fo 1 or 2 night. also a river is next to the spot, so you can fill your bottle.

Only marking this since I managed to withdraw Ar$7000 which somewhat alleviates the offensive Ar$625 atm fee. The machine stated Ar$4000 max but I put in 7k and it paid out. Winner winner chicken dinner!

This place is huge! (More than 100 sites) We arrived pretty late on a Saturday night and the campground was really really busy and the office was closed at 4.30 pm so we had difficulties to find a spot for our mini van.

We had to take a tent site and sleep in the parking in front of the site.
Prices start at 10$ per night (dry tent site) + 5$ per personne for the entrance fees.

Was not really quiet because lot of people and kids and the train.

Just a secure parking area for a night. But had everything needed, shower, dump, bathrooms and garbage. Hot water in the women’s shower. I was never able to connect to the WiFi outside but cafe down the road had good WiFi.

Its a 7km bumpy, rocky road from the carpark to this spot. Drive carefully, some rocks here are tyre busters.

Very quiet and isolated, but no view into the valley from your car or tent, and that’s why everyone visits Tunda Vala. Other spots are better!

Border crossing between Serbia and Romania, at the towns of Vatin and Moravita, respectively. Just wanted to add it: painfully easy crossing. Zero checks, barely glanced at the passport. Simply a stamp. Just so you know it’s there! Roads are all good on both sides.

Yummy panaderia with good bread and local sweets to enhance your morning meal. Pan de Navidad is really nice. It s inside a courtyard, look for the sign on the main road or ask any local.

Really nice campground with an amazing view over the lake and the surrounding mountains! There's plenty of space for tents, vans, big rigs...and each site has its own fire pit and table.
Hot showers available on request off season, simple but very clean.
Horses, cows and cute puppies around.
We stayed there one night with our cat and that was way better than the packed and pricey campgrounds in Villa La Angostura.
300 AR pp, no extra charge for the van or the pet.
Highly recommended if you want to step away from the Ruta de los Lagos crowd.

A lovely shop that sells crafts from 82 artists. The shop works as a cooperative, 12 of the artists run it from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 am to 7 pm.
They also sell good homemade bread and you can have a coffee and a cookie at one of the few tables.
If you want to support the local economy (and not the fake feria artesanal), that's where you should go :)

A small feria artesanal with a few old ladies selling their crafts. They're lovely and will show you how they knit/weave...
Way better than the big feria artesanal where everybody sells the same souvenirs.
Openes almost every day from 10 am to 6 pm

We were able to camp out of sight right on the river. It’s worth noting that this road will soon be paved and this general area is used for keeping a few of the trucks overnight. With few access points to the river it was great to be able to stay here and it’s easy to find a spot away from the trucks.

Follow signs to Kifi Fisheries from main road just before reaching Mahango national park main gate. Turn left 100m in front of the Kifi Fisheries gate and you reach this lake in 50m. Not sure if this lake is permanent or just in rainy season. Elephants called in and drank before leaving. Lovely experience. We stayed three nights, the elephants visited two nights at sunset, and at 02:30 on third night.

Perfect spot to camp and then visit national park next morning.

No shade and plenty of insects in the evening (as always the case near water).

Completely undisturbed.

Wonderful birdlife around lake.

We really liked this camp spot and hope you do too.
