Unfortunately Mario passed away some months ago but his wife is still running the garage and they offer excellent service and have a really good welder for any repairs!

Natural water source. Easy access from the road. Water in smaller streams in Sweden is in general potable. Particularly up in the north, where even lakes and smaller rivers can be of use. Common sense as usual... In the south avoid anything but the smallest streams.

Good spot to park over night, if you talk to the staff they’ll let you fill your blue water.

Stayed at this spot for 4 nights no issues. The 4th night another camper joined us since this spot could fit 2 vans/campers. Very thin road going into here, but never passed anyone when we drove to this spot. Good Verizon reception.

We arrived on Tuesday and the restaurant was closed. The owner Rolando came-up from his house, nonetheless, to greet us and offered the carpark with toilets for overnight (traffic noise during night).
The next morning, we had a delicious continental breakfast in the Rancho (3'500c/p; see foto) and did a very good chocolate tour (30$/p; schedule 8-9.30 & 13-14.30; phone 2200-5497) on their finca. Later on, we came back several times for drinks and food - all were delicious, highly recommended (see also our iov entry of Arenal Cacao House).

Nice spot in the woods with room for tents or RV. Fire pits and easy access to a small creek great for children to swim and play. Only 40 minutes outside of Granite Falls but very secluded.

Great shower. It is now $3 for 5 minutes of water. If you aren’t confident you’ll be done in 5 minutes then pay the extra $3 for 10. Once it’s off, all water is off. You’ll have to go back outside to get tokens from the machine if you need more time.

A nice spot. Lovely camp host. It is $28 a night and a pretty small area. we came in at 9pm on a Tuesday night and there were 3-4 spots available, 2 of which were pretty flat.

Cute little beach close to a nature reservat. It’s right in front of a hill - on that hill you‘ll find a toilet, a fireplace and a shelter

Beautiful spot however, it looks like locals bring their trailers here and leave them so theres one at each spot. We pulled up beside a vacant one and made ourselves at home. The river is huge, LOTs of bugs sadly it rained when we were there so wasn't really worth the long drive off the highway. No cell service.

Camped one night in the campground here - about 20 sites, a few doubles, and the rest mostly “duplex” - large parking pad for two groups, a single shelter with 2 sides. Kinda weird, but was only 30% full or so. Sites all look down on very large reservoir and across to gorgeous rock pillars across. $22 a site, or $11 with senior pass.

Notable: The nearby shoreline of the reservoir is BLM land and is accessible from good roads. A number of people were camping along the reservoir. One told us that the campground host told him that they were free to camp along the reservoir. In fact, the entire area is BLM so I doubt there’s any restriction on camping.

Very nice and clean place! Trash, table and beautiful point of view. The only bad side : the noise of the road, very close.

Stayed there for a night with our minivan. Three huge RVs and a couple of camper vans were there. Nice place, huge gravel/dirt area. Seems popular for quads but pretty calm in the night. Don't miss a bit hidden turn.

Stay only during winter months, summer may be crowded. Police did not say anything for staying overnight. Nice view, appeared safe to us. Passenger boats cruising. Night calm. good celular sign.

We were going to Santa Teresa, so named and famous for all but the truth a fiasco, it is not a beach suitable for the Vanlifer, it is a chaos traffic, there are no public downs where you can reach the car. Convenient to go during the day and back to sleep in Malpais. At this point you are only. There are only some locals home near and hotel on the road. There are no facilities but it was sure. A few meters passes a river of fresh water to catch water not suitable for consumption but if you need to wash something or get the sea salt well

Good mechanic, José Morales. He repair our van very quickly and did a good job. The place is next to the parts store, and is no problem to get all he need to change. Good relation price/quality. Is placed in San Francisco St and Coquimbo.

This is a great FREE spot but busy when we were there. Sites filled up pretty quick but there is a large parking area at the very front that has a fire pit if you are desperate. It is 2 miles past the official campground so if you try there first and have no luck you can keep going down the road. Folks drive a bit recklessly down the gravel/washboard road so be careful at night. There was a pit toilet but it was closed which was inconvenient, no picnic tables and no garbage cans. The river is awesome and there was a buck right next to our trailer when we woke up.

This is very close to the Walmart where you can only swap bottles but here you can actually get your own bottle filled. Saved us $10 over the exchange.

After many nights of bushcamping and guesthouse rooms, it was a pleasure to stay at a "real" campsite again, at a reasonable price (150 kw ppn) and even with bar and restaurant. We left twice and came back twice after getting supplies and spare parts in Chipata, and stayed for 3 nights in total. Friendly senior owners, staff and dogs, and good cooking (everything cooked fresh when ordered). Also a place to meet other travelers, even in these times...

Such a gem of a spot. This section of coast seems to be the last of free and beautiful roadside parking. We saw a bunch of people parked along the coast here, just be careful not to park in any of the official park viewpoints. Don’t be scared to pick any of the spots along the highway though, they are all great!
