Great spot! About 30 minutes away from Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Very well lit, bathrooms are 24-hour and very clean, and there’s plenty of room to walk your dog. Pretty quiet despite being right off I-40 and felt very safe!

it's a 15 mile detour if you are westbound. the the rest area can only be accessed from the eastbound Lanes.

The cleanest dump station that I have see. there are no signs about paying a fee. I just pulled up and dumped.

We didn’t stay here overnight. We stopped along our route to jump into some water. The water didn’t look clean enough to jump into so we just hung out and enjoyed the beautiful views. There were very few people when we showed up, so it was extremely peaceful and quiet.

Better directions were suggested so... If you are heading north, you will see two signs on the left side of the road just before the bridge. This is where you turn off and then follow the road which goes under the bridge and around to the large open spot by the river.

Small pull off on the forest service road. large enough for 1 vehicle. Not a lot of open space around it for recreating. It would be good to just sleep at.

Small pull off large enough for two vehicles. There's an aggressive bump getting in, would recommend a vehicle with at least some clearance. It's 100 ft from the river which is super nice.

Sweet spot! Definitely enough room for a couple cars.

pull off a Forest road 167 appears to have enough room for four or five RTT campers or small teardrop campers. 37.67962, -79.28902

This spot has a large clearing for ability to set up multiple tents. One fire ring. Bear Box. Creek running in background. Bugs were a little bad but not as bad as the rest of the road up. Pit toilets are further back down the road prior to the softer sand.

Perfect camping spot in the woods with great views of the mountain pass. Even in peak season I can’t imagine this place ever filling up, there are so many sites to choose from. Up a dirt/gravel road about 15 mins from downtown Winthrop. There is a big gravel clearing that looks to be for horse trailers so if you have a bigger rig this is the place to park it, also saw some smaller campers here too. Then there is the first loop that has great views of the mountains. Continue back to the second loop in the woods and you can camp alongside the creek. So beautiful and barely anybody here, only the sounds of nature. Excellent cell service for AT&T, pit toilets, and fire rings. It says a discover pass is needed but somebody told me it’s a waste as nobody comes to check. Camped here 2 nights for free with no disturbances. Also felt very safe.

Parked near the back of the road near the beach. Some partying traffic until late, but they were not noisy. Beautiful sunrise!

if you elect to hike up Acatenango, remember it's a very tough hike, you need to be very fit.

Huge campground, power, pit toilets, dump station and garbage. A great place to recharge. Only downside was biting no seeums in June. Good cell service. Water level at lake low.

Lots of space at this Truck Pull out. Quite noisy and busy in the evening and morning. there are a few spaces in the shade, so it's worth it ;)

Drove the needles highway in our Promaster. Epic drive, a lot of fun going through the tunnels. Width is a bit tight but there is clearance on both sides for all three tunnels. We hiked to the top of Black Elk Peak, the highest point east of the Rockies. Started at the trail head around 5:30 and made it back to the van around 8:30 just in time to catch a beautiful sunset. The parking lot at Slyvan lake was empty at this point and we didnt have to deal with any traffic at all leaving. Pulled into this spot around 9:30 and had it all to ourselves. There was a fire ring and didnt hear any cars on the road all night.

We were the only ones here on a weekday. If you take a right from the road entrance there are some beautiful open spots to tent camp or park a small campervan. Lots of animal bones (maybe the cow mentioned in the other reviews?) at one spot. Some traffic noise, but not bad.

lots of great wild camping spots!! 37.62205, -111.86753

Awesome park, there are power outlets, bathrooms (that don’t seem to close overnight), a river, a pond, lots of good green areas, friendly locals. Stayed 1.5 days, no problems! Full Verizon connection, 8 min walk from the supermarket

Good showers as described! Hot water didn’t come but it doesn’t matter, it was hot outside so cold shower felt nice. Also accidentally came after 6pm and there was no one at the reception, so just walked in, tried to be quick and clean

Big open space in the woods on the way to Ski Station, in winter probably used as parking for nordic sports. Big open area, fits any size of rigs. Lots of more secluded spots behind the parking in the woods. No amenities. No fee. View of Mt Shasta. Very quiet at night.
