junkeemailer | This road is NOT CLOSED to 4x4 vehicles willing to air down their tires and drive on the sand. There are camping spots a stones throw away from the “no camping within 200 feet of this sign” which are all on sand, and the access to the end of this road and beginning of the camp sites involve driving over rugged pot-holes and possibly washed out marsh when in season or during terrestrial rain. Big pull-offs allow for turnarounds, and if you are new to the 4X4 world, I dare you to NOT turn-around so quickly at your first gigantic-pot-hole-with-lots-of-water-that-looks-scary. Get outta your rig and get in the water and see how deep it is and assess your clearance, put it in 4 and don’t bottom out. It’s not that big of a deal in a 4X4 it’s just not. It’s another story if the marsh gets swampy and washes you out but you get my point. Big rigs with lots of weight like a slide-in camper need to be VERY careful accessing the beach campgrounds because you will get stuck... bring a shovel and live a little and don’t forget to pick all the amazing blackberries surrounding you in the early fall season. There. Are. Thoussssssandssss of em’ :) P.S. For a popular local spot, I expected more from the locals with respect to picking up vagrant garbage. There is old and degrading toilet paper abound in this area from jerks who don’t respect our forests, and one would assume that the locals would want to keep this spot pristine. We encountered 2 locals in the early morning on our way out that were accessing the beach. As the signs that are graffitied here say, “pack it in and pack it out, or don’t pack it here at all”! It’s a reference to the trails here where jerks and vagrants defecate directly on trails without a care in the world. |

junkeemailer | This is a safe place to catch a couple Z’s if you arrive late in the evening and leave early in the morning, but you will need to expect to be harassed by rangers or police at a moments notice. There is a very clear sign here they states “NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING”. At the time of this writing it was a very clean place to park a vehicle, which says a lot about how it is patrolled, especially considering how close it is and how it is used for overflow parking for the sea lion caves. Boon-dock at your own risk for more than a few hours and after sun-up. P.S. South of here in Florence Oregon in old-town next to Mo’s restaurant is a decent place to throw a crab pot in. There are gates that are magnetic and will open for you from sun up to sun-down. Watch the tides as they will get VERY SWIFT at times which will make it VERY DIFFICULT to pull your pots up. We caught 2 crabs in 2 hours. Enjoy! |

holdenmccord | Was very rocky but managed it in 2w drive. A high clearance vehicle is best but there were 2 lower clearance suv vehicles that went by at night. Great place and quiet with an awesome view of the mountains. |

The.furry.overlanders | Unadvertised guesthouse on the Zambian side of the park.
But don't expect much! The guesthouse seems to be resting...
Hot water can be provided in buckets by the ranger in charge of the facilities.
Price for foreigners :
As far as we understood, Zambian park fees are due even if you paid the Malawian park fees.
The ranger Tryford Mvula is very kind and helpful, making your stay comfortable with what's available. Malawi Airtel signal and data |

Humble Bumble | Ready access the the main highway and Verizon LTE good enough for me to work remote. convenient between Nederland and R MNP. I'm here in off-season so I don't hear the OHV's like other people comment. It's been quiet so far. $8.50 night with your interagency pass |

instagram.com/migratory_animals | Stayed down this road for two nights and enjoyed the beautiful forest and mountains. High clearance needed if you are going past the first pins on this road! We made it in a 2WD Sprinter, but it was a brain rattler. Lots of dirt bikes and OHV use the road during the day so expect some noise. No amenities and no cell service. Free! |

Schiebockner | This place is great to stay overnight directly at the national park and with ocean view.
Juan seems to be the guy in charge of the parking. After we convinced him that we really did not want to book a snorkeling tour for 25 $ per person he was very friendly and helpful ;) All of that for the standard parking fee of 2000 colones per vehicle is a great deal, especially in this area. By the way, the hand made ice-cream on the other side of the building is delicious, though costly. |

aspcajaye | PLEASE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIRES, DON'T COME HERE. There's enough glass here broken on all the pullout spots that you could melt it down and create a replica Taj Mahal out of it. All photos are from multiple different pull outs along the road, not just one camp site.
