We had lunch here about 150m from the road. It looks like a dam wall that broke. But the road splits of 45 degrees so you not really visible from the main road.

Field access is currently blocked off by a large tree across the road that fell this winter. I didn't have a chainsaw and had to turn back.

This is officially a clothing optional beach or nude beach. People act appropriately, follow the rules, and treat it like any other beach. It's not as odd as some may think. It's a mixture or clothed and unclothed people of all ages. The parking lot fills up on the weekends, as this place is a big draw. The beach is all natural, and minimally developed on purpose. There is a port-a-poty, or there is proper restrooms down the road at the other beaches. If you are openminded, then give this place a try

100 yards from the 389 on a small dirt trail. No cell signal, a bit busy in the morning with truck trafic on the 389 and the not so far train line. Not a perfect spot but it was a good spot for us as it was getting dark and it was easy to find.

coming from north a good place to spend a night before park entry. The road north is a newly made gravel road with no washboard! Alternative road to the Laguna road. small pullout to protect our van from wind. Nice view over the laguna.

It didn’t look like much was going on when we arrived in June but the friendly owner showed us around a bit and we bought some fresh cream for coffee $6 and some delicious fruit crumble. $6
They had some baby goats we were invited to visit but allergies prevented us from doing that.
Go!! And buy something yummy

Lovely lodge in a lush garden overlooking Zambeze. Very well and professionally managed, very comfortable, super clean rooms. Nicely decorated rooms with beautiful pieces of art from Europe and very nice photos. The pool is immaculate (by far the cleanest seen in 4 months overlanding in Africa. Very pleasant to enjoy breakfast in nice porcelain tableware in the garden. An unexpected and lovely place in Tete. Definitely recommended.

Nice and quiet. 2 wd accessible. The nicest sites seem to be near the big rock formations. I rode my bike way down the sandy road heading south past the big rocks, and the sites seem to get less and less desirable in that direction, and more windy!

Saw the mowed site just off the highway and decided to go thru the gate that had a sign on it "Please close gate behind you" Drove in about 1/2 mile to a wide area. The grass was tall so take note your exhaust might set it on fire. We found a fire ring as we were looking for a place to setup a tent. Nice and quiet. This site is on BLM lands.

I was only planning to stay in Atitlán for a few days but ended up staying for over six months in large part because of this amazing property! Casa Pierre has it all... bathrooms, hot showers, suana, outdoor BBQ, wifi, water/electrical hookups, wide open green spaces with large mature trees for shade, access to the Lake and the most incredible views! The boats between San Marcos and Pana will stop at Pierre's dock if requested and there's a mobile Farmer's Market that drops by once a week to supply residents with fresh fruits and vegetables. If that's not enough, Pierre also sells steak, fish and wine! The property is set back from the main road (so you don't hear the dogs barking all night long) and completely surrounded by a concrete wall for privacy and security. All this for the amazingly low price of 75Q per day. I'm told prices have since increased to 100Q (the first such increase in over 8 years) but you can still get the 75Q price if you book for more than a month. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this place! It's easily the best RV park (I hesitate to even call it this because it's so much more) that I've EVER stayed at... and I've stayed at plenty! Do yourself a favour, stop in here if you get a chance. I promise you won't regret it! BTW: Pierre is awesome!

Really cool spot! I couldn’t find anything on the map and happen to see a sign for the Magic Reservoir Boat Ramp. There’s a pull off and there’s an access road. Take the access road down about a quarter of a mile on a nice dirt road (no 4x4 needed) and there’s an official camping spot right by the old boat ramp. It easily fit my truck and 20’ travel trailer. *I wouldn’t take in a class a motor home or a very low clearance vehicle. *

It has a fire ring, picnic table, and even a bathroom (I didn’t go in). The lake was really dried up and this place looks fairly deserted. You can faintly hear road noise from the highway, but this is a great free place to stay.
