Nice pullout by the water. There’s a little walking path along the water here too. Good for the night in the roof tent. No amenities
Please clean up after yourself

FS Campground with lots of sites. Only a few rigs here on a Saturday in early June. There are OHV trails here so expect some use. Free but asking for a donation. Can still have a campfire here since it's a designated campsite with a fire ring even with the ban in the rest of the forest. Have usable Verizon LTE but it's only a bar or two. Cool camp host. Yours to enjoy protect and keep clean 🌲

This is a fairly new truck stop with fuel stations and a mini market.
Also has showers and coin-op laundry.

Super recomendamos! NĂŁo dormimos mas fomos super bem recebidos!

This place is a hidden gem. Overnighted on a Saturday and only one other camper. Very quiet, beautiful and clean. Just as described. Will be back!

Private property up the road. This is second to last spot available until you hit the private property road. The last spot is a little more up, to the left overseeing a cliff, but if you have a group or bigger suv/truck, there likely isn't enough room to camp at.

This is a good sized spot next to main road.

Other spots are definitely better than this before this but you have to arrive earlier.

To much noise from the road and people just coming to walk with dogs. We didn’t stay

This is a pull trough site on the side of Engineer Pass Road. only one site, but will fit any size rigs. perfect for anyone doing the Alpine Loop. some ATV and 4x4 traffic during the day, but mostly quiet at night.

Currently closed. Unfortunate since there is great primitive camping/fishing at nearby lakes but nowhere to get water nearby (gas stations to the north best option now I think).

Really nice farm with Alpakas, Cows and horses. We stayed 1 night with our motorhome. The path from the main road is a bit challenging, but easier than we thought. Zezé is very helpful and gave us great tips for traveling in Peru. Furthermore he helped us with the SOAT. With foreign plate you can not get it everywhere. He figured out an agency in Juliaca for foreign plates. I have created an separate iOverlander entry in Juliaca for insurance.
I can really recommend this place. If you are interested in horseback riding this is the right place.
It is good for camping, but there are also rooms to rent.

It is peaceful & gorgeous views. Two pull outs about 1.5 miles off AK hwy. Swans moved away as we parked. Nice informative historical panel.

You can park anywhere in the event parking for the hotel above or anywhere in the parking lot. There is no designated spots for trucks or cars I called and the guy said you can just park anywhere as long as there’s no think nothing going on there’s tons of hotel parking when there’s no event.

Small friendly truck stop with car-camping/employee parking area. Mentioned I'm car-camping & cashier said 'nothing wrong with that!' No $5 fee that I see. Did buy $5 pulled pork sandwich so...who knows

We came here and it was perfect. The shower was really hot and clean. 10/10 for the shower but it’s a campground, we wanted to stay for the night, but we have to pay 35 box for.
We just didn’t see it directly but still a nice spot with a really cool hot and free shower. ( we do have the pass)

Here now. Absolutely beautiful. Be careful driving at full speed —especially after night fall — cows are let out of the pastures and wander the road.

Next to the river stands an abandoned concrete barn with a good sized flat grass place.
Take the little road just before the bridge left to Chao village. Could be tricky with a 2WD but it’s only 50m
Campsite is in sight of the road to Chao but everyone passing by waved gently

Great spot overlooking the entrance of the straights. The ruins are from the WWII fortifications. We were lucky and there was no wind when we were here.

Lieux bien entretenus.

Set aside at least 3-4 hours with break if you wish to do the crest trail. When you reach the rock that has two white arrow pointing separate directions, both go to the same point and you can make a loop of the top crest trail. If you just want to see the crater, about 1.5-2 hour return is sufficient. Path is overgrown towards crest trail
