We cannot share the positive reviews unfortunately.
Yes the owner was very nice when we arrived and offered coffee and dried fruits.
However the next morning he asked 6000 dirham per vehicle. We were NOT using toilets or shower, only parking. This is more than people paid for (single) rooms according to the comments. It seems he becomes a bit greedy.

Great to stay there! Camping is free. But you should go and eat in the restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast there. So yummy and very inexpensive! We cant comment about ablutions as we used our own bathroom. They speak good english. Can recommend the place.

Small paved parking lot in front of El Fresal, a shop and coffee stop (place was founded by a Croatian family who emigrated after WWII). No amenities, and at the highway, so traffic noise, but good for one night. Asked for permission to stay in the shop, and bought a lot of sweet treats :-)

We came here for the treatment of malaria. The doctors and staff were very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. We felt like being in good hands here.

This is a very great find. Very spacious rooms, baño privado, Smart TV which actually works, great location... Paid 120 per night for a double room, looking out on the little playground at the foot of Sagarnaga street.

Visitamos la catedral de sal y aunque el precio es caro, creemos que es algo que no se encuentra en ningun lugar.
Recomendable ver un film de unos 15 minutos y donde se explica la historia de ese lugar.

Sorry for my wrong statement just before. I mixed with a brand new Total station just after the big junction with the N6 that it's not yet open.
This one is still working. Sorry for the confusion.

This “hotel”, rather family guesthouse, allowed us to stay for free in their garden, behind a big and high fence. Of course, tips are welcome.

The place is right on the road so it’s noisy until the road traffic calms down, and the place is a little rundown, but it works perfect to sleep in your car or big rig and continue driving the next day, as most hotels used to foreigners will not let you sleep in the parking for “security” reasons and will have you book a room.

They also have a shared bathroom on the first floor of the house that you can access from the garden and use for toilets (squat) and running water.

We got in contact with Jose through a friend of him in Guatemala to do some maintenance on our VW vanagon Syncro. This guy truly knows what he is doing, there are very few mechanics in central america that know vanagons, let alone syncro's. he owns quite a few and does amazing precise work and engine swaps for his customers and himself.
We needed some custom work like a special pully for our waterpump which he had machined in his shop in San José.
Our suspension bushings on front lower control arms where worn which he imported and replaced and got the van perfectly alligned (better than back in the Netherlands to be honest). He has his adresses around san jose to work with vanagons. (you could call him a project manager aswell since he's got connections all over)
This is his other adress where he has a place to work. The main shop is on San Jose.
If you need some work or maintenance on your vanagon, do it with Jose. Don't expect it to be as super cheap as the Mexican mechanics, but the jobs you get done here stay good for a long time, see it as an investment 😉.
Before you go here make sure to send him a text since he's moving in between his shops. Also if you need parts, reach out to him as early as you can in case it needs to be ordered.
his number is:
+506 8311 3899

If you need a place to stay contact him, there is an appartment here that you can stay in in case you need to spend some time.

This is secure parking for day use only. We parked here while our laundry was being done. Shaded. Left our dog in the car. There is a place right across the street that sells water in Garafons.

Nice people. We paid 20000 per hour.

Yeah it’s a parking lot near the county fairgrounds - not the nicest part of town I’ll add. But you stop here because you have business in Santa Rosa or because it was a convenient stop on the way to the ocean.

It fits the bill in both regards.

Good place to stay. I had issues sleeping (personal, no issues with the truck stop - it was quiet) and I found myself sleeping in until 10am the next morning. No one seemed to care nor bothered me.

Locals get the water from that source. The tap has good pressure and the water is cold and fresh.

An off roading/ hiking route that is about 2.5km off the main road. If you’re on All Trail it’s the Fox Cox to Beau avoid OHV trail route. A few differnt spots to pull off but if you make it to Duricle Cove it’s stunning- spots to park right on the pebble beach, have a fire. Stunning sun rise in the morning. Fascinating spot where fresh water runs into the ocean.
Definitely requires 4x4.
If you stay on the grab on the cliff above the beach there’s one flat spot for a tent but we rooftop tent on the beach!

Free parking from 7pm to 8am. 2-hour parking from 8am to 7pm. Camped here three nights. Quiet area. We used the nearby Holiday Inn in the mornings for their bathroom without a problem. There are also a few bars and breweries in the area that stay open past midnight.

This is an area reserved for motorhomes or motorhomes. it is managed by the campsite but is necessarily much cheaper. very clean, with a hot shower and a men's toilet and the same for women, a space to do the dishes as well, electricity if necessary as well as everything necessary for emptying and filling the camper van.
Price: 16 euros all inclusive.
Good telephone signal, a few shady pitches, quiet and a very short distance from Ronda (accessible on foot and by bike).

Went here and purchased Motul gear oil for my friend’s BMW bike. They carry some KTM (motorcycle) apparel and gear, and the shop is servicing European motorcycles and cars. They carry European parts and fluids. It’s worth checking out if you need it.

This is a beautiful big tree filled field in the middle of the desert. Tit is close to Joya Honda Crater. We went to the village and asked in the little store if we could stay here. No amenities at all but a nice quiet spot in nature to spend a night.

We chose this location over Walmart due to it being more flat.
There was about 5 other campers there. We all parked in the parking lot behind CB. The hum of the freeway was nice.
