astridvdgun | We just left after 2 peaceful nights here. Len and Margrit are absolutely lovely and welcoming. They have a beautiful home and take great care of the place. We had some nice chats with them in the evenings and went with them to the local Sunday market. The bathroom was in perfect condition with a lovely warm shower, there was a nice pool and outdoor bar area to use and at low tide we could easily access the beach down below to walk and swim (nice warm swimmable water!). Bugs are minor in this area. Price is still 300 pesos per night for camping. You can use water and electricity hookups which we didn’t (although we did get to test if everything works with electricity hooked up). The casita looked lovely as well. The nearby town of Aticama is cute and calm with enough eateries and tiendas if needed. Recommended for if you’re up for some relaxed time, nice conversations and a good shower! |

astridvdgun | Were asked about fruits or plants we’re bringing. We said we had apples and oranges, which he could see. Then he said that he should take them away, but that he will let us go this once haha! So didn’t have to hand in anything….maybe he wasn’t hungry for oranges today. |

Jamie Z | I attempted to cross from Honduras to Nicaragua here on a US-plated motorcycle. The Nicaraguan officials told me it's not possible and directed me to go to Las Manos. There are staffed immigration offices on both sides of the border here, but services appear to be limited. I don't think they can issue the necessary TIP or insurance for vehicles. If you already have those documents, you can probably cross here. I do not know if it's possible to cross from Nicaragua to Honduras with a vehicle. |

Jamie Z | Stopped here to ask about a room. The lady told me a single room with shared bathroom costs C170. It was very basic. They have a gated parking lot half a block away for vehicles. I decided not to stay and found a nicer place for a little bit more down the street. |

Jamie Z | Simple but cute place. I paid C400 for one person. Room has a fan, TV, and private bathroom with electric shower. There is a comfortable outdoor courtyard. Wifi is a bit slow. There is a restaurant on site, but no meals are provided with the room. Gated parking area has room for about four cars. |

dricciuto | Great parking lot next to a restaurant, used as an overnight spot by truckers (usually 1 or 2 big-rigs in a big empty lot). Felt very safe, and is the best overnight spot on this long stretch of highway, especially compared to the other informal spots in the area (we tried all of them before coming here). The owners of this restaurant are SUPER friendly - they made us and our infant daughter feel like family - and will let you stay the night in the big empty lot to the right of the restaurant, no questions asked! There are other truckers doing the same thing, so you will not raise any eyebrows. Toilets inside the restaurant are super clean and cost 10 pesos. Also HIGHLY recommend the food - it was some of the best we had during our entire time in Mexico (the chilaquiles are bomb!), and is clearly a favorite among locals. We looked forward to coming back here on the trip back home. The restaurant is open 7am-8:30pm every day. |

milene | We spent two days here, very calm and relaxing place, the beach is two steps away and it’s almost like a private beach. Clean bathrooms and very well equipped and clean kitchen, good wifi, friendly cat, dog and small bird.

sonny jadun | stayed here two nights with with car RTT. very secure area. No problems at all. I could have stayed here a week. 10 min. walk to Centro. police patrol day and night. In the morning, you may hear the cleaning folks cart clanks on cobble stones. During the day hard to find parking here. after 630 pm lot of slots available. |

thehilltopadventures.com | We arrived at 8am and had all 3 cenotes to ourselves. We only started seeing other visitors on our way back to the parking area. 2 of the cenotes are among the best you’ll see in Mexico , the other one is ok but nothing special. The horse ride takes about 25 minutes each way. Personally we didn’t find it scary, albeit by Mexico standards. I think it depends on the driver. Our driver was very friendly and I’m sure would have slowed down if we had asked. Definitely recommend doing this trip, a bargain at 600 pasós per cart. We didn’t stay here. Toilets were ok, if a little dirty. |

mikluaijala | At first they were confused when i asked if i could stay until the next day - i was directed to the administration where i explained that i had a camping car and wished to return after 7 (which is when they close and no one is there) and sleep in it for the night. After some discussion between themselves they gave me a key and charged 10$ (1$ and something per hour not counting the time they were closed). So nice! |

Babs&Ballie | Nice place by the water side. Great sunset! Space for many vehicles and/or tents but was pretty quiet when we were there. Many places to cook/build fire/set up BBQ. Places to buy food on either side of the walking bridge, though both closed when we were there off season. During the day people come to relax on the beach or hike, only met locals/Argentinians. Hikes were simple but fun! |

expeditionopenended | This is a great place to spend the night in León! Registration was very simple and took less than 5 min. They do hold your ID overnight and you just have to get it back from the office when you leave. It cost $62 MXN per person per night and their website recommends arriving before 6pm. It seems like tent camping would be fine in the “bosque” but we had to park our truck with rooftop tent in the parking lot next to the wooded area. This is a busy metro park and people will be walking/running/riding the paths during all open hours (6am-10pm) but it was fun to interact with the passersby and enjoy the trails ourselves. Great bird and sunset watching on the lake, also great for a night view of the cityscape. Lots of snack food vendors around and in walking distance of city restaurants. Very peaceful at night and we felt safe with the overnight guard who made a show of riding his bike and shining his flashlight in the bushes. Other overlanding friends stayed here a few days later and enjoyed their experience as well! |

travel2u.de | A lot of spots before and behind the steel bridge. Easy accessible, only some places need high clearance, no 4WD required. Could be a party location on summer weekends, quite a lot glass around. Quiet, dark, almost no traffic, we were alone. Officially you have to register before coming here-no chance to do so if coming from East. |
