A senior officer arrived after a few moments and spoke English and allowed us on our way after a brief conversation

They only viewed one of two passports and no requests for anything like money or water or food.

if you like great food, relaxing times by the river/lake reservoir and an adventurous owner this is the place. the food is a mix of standard American options .

kayaks are available for a trip on the waters and there are some zip line towers that might be open for use too.

great bathrooms and open showers if you ask nicely at off times. camping not currently allowed due to insurance reasons.

This is the quickest way out of San Juan as a cyclist and will cut a lot of risky highway cycling in order to get out of the city. if you follow the northern roads towards the Bacardi distillery and the to the west you'll also have large shoulders on most busy roads.

the ferry is half a dollar per person and bicycles are brought along for free. they leave each hour and take about 15 minutes to get to the other terminal. the water fountains inside the terminals are cold so stock up on it while you're waiting ;)

Really bad road. We passed with 2x 4x4 and a big rig. 1.5 hours for 50 km. Nothing impossible, but need some time. Nobady had damage on the car, so take it easy.
This is the road the locals take to go from Owo to Isua if they are higher than 2.40m, due to high restrictions on the road Akunga. We meet a lot of friendly people!

We arrived in the dark after visiting Medina. Hudge area, tons of places to choose, calm and quiet. And it was Thursday night during Ramadan.

Very neat place. Perfect for a stop over. Quite close to the road, but traffic calms down during the night. The hosts Jan and Carmen are very welcoming and make you feel like home.

When we arrived here on a Thursday afternoon nobody else was camping, a few people playing tennis at the court until 10-11pm. It looked like things are going to calm down.

After 11 pm this cars started appearing and people gathered at a small building on the property to dance and party on loud music. This lasted until 3 am.

After this all the dogs in the city barked for hours. Needless to say that we did not have a good night in our roof top tent.

We paid $8000 ARS (8 USD) for the privilege (2 people, one vehicle). Poor facilities, water at the tap has impurities, wouldn't recommend drinking it.

here you can park easily and free if you are no longer than 6.5m and take the hourly train to berlin.

Great detour but make sure you allow enough time. The detour is about 90-100 km out of which about 45 km are ripio (some okay, some washboard).

Picnic area near a nature reservation and train tracks. Enough space for 1-2 tents behind the benches + parking spots and bins.

Good place to spend the night. Receptionist girl was extremly rude tho. Had secure motorcycle parking. Payed 14€

Still a very good spot for a night, about 100km from Rusumo border. Nobody came by, had a quiet night.

Everything still as described below. There is an ATM right outside of the main building. If you want to change money, there are many people before or after the border.
East Africa visa is easy to get on arrival. Took us about 2.5 hours including the scanner.

Stopped here. It was little out of the way. It was raining so I had to use all wheel drive on 4runner to get here. great views of Laguna. Only drawback was that there were top many mosquitoes. Headed out of here asap. Great sunset though.

Checked it out to see if I liked it. I did not care about the beach, too rocky. Also, you have to cross a small stream, in rainy season it can be an issue if not 4x4. Spot is secluded though.

checked out the beach. A beautiful beach but because of past thefts was hesitant to stay there. Police patrol on foot was visible too. I asked them if it was safe to stay, tgey said they would not recommend. Opted agai st staying but a beautiful long Beach. perfect surf spot.

Maybe good to refresh but workers here woke me up in the morning. didn't seem to care that much but definitely not private.

Called for permission, no problem. Large lot, several RV/Bus spots, all pretty level. Some highway noise that turned into white noise. Good Verizon signal. Good spot for the night.

Camping on sand with a hill incline. Ablutions okay. Own braii. No wash up area. Wifi available at camp. Able to use hotel pool and restaurant. Was nice to be on the outskirts of town.

Very nice and helpful. They were able to fill up our bottle of 4kg coming from Canada. We paid 10 SOL.

Still here, cheap price. It seams running all the day morning and afternoon. There are also some small local restaurants for 8-10 SOL the meal.

Beautiful archaeological site, I recommend. The cost is 10 sol for adults and 5 sol for children. To come here the track passing through Luya and Cohechan is in good condition. The people in the village are very welcoming.

We didn't see the dirt road going to the river. I think the old access is now on a private property with barriers.

They now charge 200 pesos per person per night. We asked friendly as we read that only 2 weeks ago others paid 150 pesos per night. but they still would like to have 200 (even if we arrived with two vans) We didn't stay as this seems to be just random pricing.

Absolutely fantastic food - very well cooked tandoori chicken with the best chips we’ve had in Africa. Lovely, friendly people. Price is 12,000sh for two huge pieces of chicken, a mountain of chips and a side salad. Locals say that has been the price for over a year, not changed

Cyclist: I could camp under the roof on the left end of the buildings. It's around the corner and protected by a little wall so normally nobody will see you. Traffic at night was ok. One of the very friendly workers gave me the wifi key. Toilets, no shower.

We arrived with a Mercedes truck, it's a waste of time, they make every effort not to help you.

In Leoncito there are two observatories. This one, which by now (3/2024) does night visits every day of the week (check https://oafa.unsj.edu.ar/ for Details and booking). the other is CASLEO (https://reservascasleo.com/) where night tours are offered from Friday to Monday. we did the first: 5000 ARS for extranjeros. good explanations about the sky, the Stars and astrophysics (whatever you want to know). friendly and competent guy, Tour in Spanish! there are 3 tourist telescopes. maybe not soooo impressive. during day visits you get to see the scientist's telescop. the less moonlight, the better, obviously!
