That place is plastered with "No overnight" signs at every single lamp post. Moved on.

We tried to stay here last night (11/April/24), but it was still closed for the season. The website says to just show up (even in April), but that didn't work for us. Note many campsites in the area are closed until May, including the city campground just up the road in Stanley and Clearwater Lake just beyond there.

It is surprisingly not easy to find a bivouac on this road. We ended up finding this grassy location at the top of the mountain and dominating the entire valley to the west. If the weather is clear, the panorama is incredible with snow-covered Cordillera in the distance. The spot is 50m from the track and you are visible. There is a little traffic but it remains reasonable. No Claro signal.

Ok for one night but would not stay longer. Peaceful and some shade, but the toilets and showers are very old and dirty. I was the only one in camp. Hot watter did not work, so they refunded me for the shower. Helpfull staff but not English spoken.

I planned to stay but was delayed. Visited the following day and hiked the trails and wished I'd been able to camp there. Stunning views, cell service and 2 porta johns a nice walk from the parking lot. Lots of divots on gravel and dirt and difficult to find level surface, so proceed carefully. Wonderful birding, bring binoculars. Mountain Bluebird, Western Meadowlark, Crows, Kestrel, Says Phoebe, Black-billed Magpies.

I got a room for 20 soles. I asked for a room where I can put my bicycle inside. So they gave the one with an entry on the roadside.

The room had 3 beds, only one was acceptable. No locks on the door, but I did put my own padlock when I left.

Super basic. No showers, no WiFi or phone connection. Don’t expect clean sheets, there were none. Pit toilets…

In the morning a truck was blocking my entrance and the driver was sleeping in. So I could leave my entrance by bicycle…

I didn’t know if the other reference in town was for this place or the one on the other side of the road. Anyway there are 3 hospedajes in this town.

Wonderful trail of 4km that goes into the salar and around colourful lagunas, gorgeous. The path is well indicated by wooden sticks.
You can swim in the laguna turquesa (water is cold but you float due to the high concentration of salt, the color is amazing and the views are amazing)

The road to get here is washboard but nothing too complicated so 2WD accessible, there is a main track but there are also many different tracks from other car that goes to the same place.
Nothing written about camping there, I guess you could sleep there. Havn’t seen a soul during our visit, you’ll probably have the lagunas to yourself:)

April 2024 the road is doable for any car at the moment, no sand patches (but bad ripio, you’ll have to go slowly)

There was a gate I assume due to hunting season which said do not block gate. If you keep going up the road there are several pull offs that you can use instead. With rains as fierce as they are today I would be careful unless you have a rig that can handle it due to hills/mud

Info below is correct! Spent the night , one other truck camper. There’s a water spigot in the grass on the far right of the entrance but water was turned off. Very chill place just a little traffic noise but overall recommend for 1 night

Lots of mosquitoes. Right on the riverside next to the bridge. It could get busy on the weekends. Many locals like to fish here. Seems safe enough.

We parked in the lot at the end of the street. It backs up to an active bicycle/walking path. We pulled in at 5 pm, took a walk and then made dinner in our rig, and left at 8am the next day. Very peaceful night, nobody bothered us. In fact, a cop circled through around 8pm and parked on the street for an hour, then left - and we are far from stealth.

Beautiful location, super easy to find.
This is part of the Walker Lake Recreation Area & is $6 per night (less if you have the senior or disabled passes).
There’s a pit toilet & dumpster but no water.
The sites aren’t jammed up next to each other but they are close enough to hear/see your fellow campers.
There’s a little highway noise but I could easily tune it out.
I have 2 bars of 5GUC with TMobile.

Big BLM lot not too far from the city. There is a ton of space for even the biggest rigs. The road in is surprisingly busy all night and they do shoot guns down the road. But neither of those two kept us up. We are surrounded by mountains, in beautiful weather. Great spot. 9/10

The dune is gone. Heavy machines cleaned this part.
The road from Puerto Madryn to here is good and really bad ripio. The washboard is at the end of the road in bad shape and you can drive only slowly but there are no deep holes or so.
It was easy for our standard RV ( Fiat Ducato) and we saw a lot of orcas!

Nice spot on the river, big parking lot. Buildings closed for the season.
No one else around at night, a few people in and out through the morning.
Quiet.

Nice, large field to camp in. Just a little noise from the highway. Conveniently close to the highway and Sinclair station. Only 3 of us there and plenty of space.

Two rooms available with bed and blanket. Very basic, no electricity or drinking water,no wifi, but phone signal not so bad. The lady gave us a jump of water to wash ourselves. Very quiet and rustic place to spend a night. Suitable for cyclists passing through. The road to get here is not paved, and some sections have a gradient of over 12%. Trucks are difficult to climb.50 quedzal for 2.

Really excellent little campsites with a shelter and fire pit, There are new pit toilets, but there is no shower room. Apparently there are showers in the front building, but they are often locked. Honor system envelopes, which you can mail. Really wonderful river walk along the Rio Grande. We just took off into town in the morning, got some breakfast and took a soak and shower in one of the local Hot Springs. Will definitely stay again.

The place is rather big so even if is there other people you have a massive space where to be completely isolated
Has a river, natural pool, sugar cane hand mill and coconuts
Also a swimming pool is available if you are traveling with your kids
Anthony guides you if you wanted a night walk experience and you get to see some snakes, spiders and even coyotes at night
You feel like you are truly at the rain forest
Showers and toilets are in 3 different spots along the property

Nice and basic comedor on the main square. Very friendly owners.
If you ask very kindly they might even offer you a basic room (2beds).
It seems allowed to camp on the square on the roofed terrace

Great place to stay the night. Got there around 3pm asked the employee if it was okay if we stayed, she was fine with it. Keep in mind it’s next to a busy street so noise will be there throughout the night. Overall do recommend.
