Slightly wrong location marked, it is down the small road t that leads off to the right if going north from Sovazza, we missed it initially.

Nice quiet spot next to the river, few cars there in the morning - just people walking dogs - but ideal for a quick overnight

Super beautiful!

But, people are trashing it. Several campsites available and the one we picked had a short walk to the creek and there was a little waterfall, clear water that looked very inviting on a hot summer day.

But the trail and creek side was completely littered with toilet paper and poop.

The fire pit had a bunch of food, carton of eggs and a milk jug with the top cut off that was either full of more poop and pea, or something as equally unmentionable.

We were ready to clean it up, but when I walked the campground, and checked that the pit toilet was in fine shape. It wasn’t like it was freshly cleaned, but it was totally usable. I have no idea why the people were using the woods and creek. I learned from one of the more full time residents, that the group that had a dog that had been barking the whole time, were in that spot until a few days before.

Didn’t feel like spending the weekend with people that were that gross, so we bounced.

some jerk came in and absolutely destroyed the creek. smashed all of the fences. any of the bridges. calling forest service, as he almost ran the kids over, flying into our camp to declare he was going to bring in an excavator. I've went here for years and it's always been a special place. It seems like the rich white men are coming to ruin the nature, to get the free water for their ranches.

Designated parking area in the middle of the scenic drive thru Logar Valley. Large and flat parking area that can accommodate big rigs. There are no services, not even a trash can... so take your trash with you and preserve this beautiful spot. There are no signs to prevent overnight parking. The parking area is right next to a beautiful flowing river, so you hear the peaceful sound of water. The parking is right off of the road, but it's not heavily traveled and there is a tree line to block sight and noise! Decent Cell Service. GREAT SPOT!

Clean and secure parking space in the guarded and locked parking lot of the hotel. The manager is very friendly. Water available, electricity possible.
We paid 40 TDN for two people in the camper per night.

You can get an insurance here (3.000 for 15 days). Remember to register all drivers, otherwise only the vehicle owner is allowed to drive.

You can also buy a SIM-card here (500). It is MTC, 30GB/month and preloaded with 200, but activation will set you back 100 and the plan costs 23,4 per day. So after four days you have to top up.

For topping up you need to search for a top-up-machine, usually found within the MTC-stores. Minimum amount is 10 (smallest bill). No comission taken.

Starting point for the road to Pally Puncho. Great little hike and amazing views. No one around. We loved it.

We left the car (6m motorhome) at the taxi stand on the main road and took a taxi up to the Pally Puncho parking / starting point of the hike.

If you want to drive yourself, 4WD recommended (or a least van with RWD) but we didn’t risk it in our own vehicle. And now that we’ve seen the road we’re glad we didn’t drive it ourselves.

Not all taxi are willing to take you up. We went with a guy named Diego and paid 80 soles for the round trip including waiting time.

About 40 minutes drive up. You need at least 1h30 to do the whole circuit. Steep walk. Bring poles if you have them. Best time to visit is any time between 10-15 I guess.

Follow the path with the white stones up to the main viewpoint and then around the other side down to the lake and the main road.

Enjoy !

We got to the park at 4:30 pm and it was closed so we couldn’t get in. We camped here, which was fine but completely inferior to camping in the park.

Great place to stay overnight. Bit of traffic noise but the running creek and free camping made it a nice stop.

They are now accepting large group bookings of guided tours, so 10-20 tourists and 6-7 staff who take over half of the campsite, shine strong spotlights over others sites, make a lot of noise and laughter and generally behave like they at the pub on a Friday night.
These large groups should be given their own separate sites many km’s away from the sites for normal nature loving travellers who want peace and quiet in the evenings…
In disgust at 10pm and unable to sleep with their lights and noise I’ve driven half a km into the bush to get away from them.
Botswana is ruining its national park experience by allowing too many bookings of mainstream tourists on these guided tours into sites designed for very small groups imho

BLM land off of a dirt road with private property on both sides. As a previous post said, the private property sign at the beginning of the dirt road applies just to the land on either side. I stopped about a half mile in where there were at least 4 empty spots. 2WD and medium/low clearance accessible (at least when dry, the ground is soft so it might be trickier in rain). Probably wouldn't fit RVs. Some light road noise for the first spots but not too bad in the evening and early morning.

As previously described, campground is roughly in center of the park, which provides great access to most trails. Campsites are close together but the campground itself is safe, clean and well maintained. Store for supplies with a cafe nearby, which is also next to the only gas station in SNP. Hot showers available for a fee ($2.50/5 minutes) and plenty of restrooms around the campground. Potable water spigots located throughout as well. All in all a nice place to spend a few nights in the middle of SNP.

Hotel/Hostel with basic rooms. I paid 40 soles for a room with private bathroom. The owner wouldn't go lower. A room with shared bathroom would have been 30, but the shared bathroom was quite dirty. Hot shower. There's a tienda downstairs and a restaurant across the street.
