Calm and quiet campground but which could be refreshed and better maintained… several toilets are broken or out of service so there’s not enough for the number of campers (line up at morning !), missing hook to close correctly so you are not really at peace to do your business… as the result is human excrement and paper toilet on several trails …
Also garbages are only emptied once a day so sometimes it overflows.
Campfires prohibited but everyone does and some people destroy the trees around their camp for that (come on, take the wood on the floor if you don’t want to pay!). Useful because next to whistler. People seem happy to pay « only »15$ but for this price service could be better… some free places are as well…

Absolutely amazing and a must see if you're traveling on I80. Noisy but easy to catch some sleep here. Huge truck stop and the trucking museum next door. Luxury $16 showers, worth it. Huge laundry facility as well. Lots of food options.

This is the parking lot for the virgen de Belen hike. We stayed here one night and had no problems or issues. There were 2 other campers camping with us. It was very quite and peaceful. The hike was also amazing with awesome views of the town and surrounding mountains. There is also free water from the building at the parking lot which was very nice. It was a great spot for a good nights rest.

Definitely not my best stay. I was the only one in the lot until midnight when a parking lot cleaner came. He started with the air blower for the shop fronts then spent the next 45 minutes driving around the parking lot with his vacuum truck. It was relatively quiet from 1-5 AM except for a few loud motorcycles going by. Around 5:30 cars started surrounding me for the Planet Fitness open time of 6. By 8 it was incredibly hot already.

I just want to update prices. pretty insane but everything in this area has gone up to $60. Nothing anywhere around Redwoods is less than $60 until you get down to Eureka. Really challenging. Crazy that it was $35 last year. I didn't stay but I checked all of the other places around as well :(. compleltey unaffordable for me

Pretty cool spot. One way in one way out. People riding atv’s and horses. Camp spots are a bit off the road. Sunday at 4:30 April 23rd lots of activity. Spots are mostly full from Friday to current time. At the top of the road it dead ends. It’s nice if you’re not trying to go far from Winnemuca. Other than that cell service is between nothing and 1-2 bars. Road has speed bumps In it. Night time is nice. There is a creek to soak your feet in that is nice to cool off. Shady spots. Bring board games and such. Happy Trails ✌🏻🗻

I rode a circular route from Antofagasta to Laguna Diamante and then to El Peñón. I did it on a Honda XR 250 motorbike. The section from Antofagasta to Laguna Diamante is only for real off-road vehicles. Make sure you take the detour through this waypoint! Even on the OpenStreet Maps it's written "to avoid the steep loose incline". Make sure you follow that route! I didn't check the map at that point and I took the other route... It was extremely steep with huge potholes created by 4x4s that were trying to ascent and had their whole wheels buried. I was going downhill but still, I crashed there. There was no way I could ride that part uphill! That's why if you decide to do this route, it's better to do it from Antofagasta to Laguna Diamante and not in the opposite direction. No map shows roads on the South side of Laguna Diamante but there are some. However, there is again a steep downhill part with huge potholes. From Laguna Diamante to El Peñón is relatively easy. The dirt road is corrugated but a motorbike or 4x4 shouldn't have any trouble in that section.

It's open, actually! Both fuel stations are open and next to each other. They have diesel and gasoline too.

As described, nice spot.
Likely busy with locals on nice days - today is not so nice, and still a number of cars.

Super quiet with a lake you can take a dip in. Good amount of camp sites, some with fire pits and picnic tables. Vault toilet available. There were 2 or 3 others when I got here on a Saturday evening, everyone was pretty spread out. People came up throughout the day and evening to take a load off and do some fishing, which added to the beauty and character of the place. Full bars on Verizon, which was amazing. Anyone can make it up, don’t become discouraged just take it slow and easy. Also pick up after yourselves. Safe travels!

Such a great spot! Beautiful views at the upper loop. Pot toilets, fire pit, and picnic table. No garbage service so pack it in, pack it out. Some cacti and foxtail in the spots so pet owners beware.

Not my cup of tea, left, 60 miles round trip wasted. It was packed on Sunday at 6pm despite hot weather, teenagers riding at high speed almost though campsites, no privacy, there is only one private site but it was taken by s group. Probably loud night ahead. NO verizon signal. Left, wasted 3 bucks I paid too. There is a private boondocking area off very narrow road but needs 4wd and high clearance.

WoW !

beautiful clearing with fire ring, short walk to Crystal clear Creek, ice cold but refreshing. there's plenty of room for multiple vehicles. lane to site is short, slightly bumping, I make in in my Subaru legacy ( low car) lots of mosquitoes but there's plenty of firewood and the fire kept them away. there's room to set up tent next to creek. definitely will come back here again. Verizon no service
