Beautiful views all around you but very windy. Was able to make it up there in our 4x4 sprinter van. Just be extra careful in the road because it definitely slants quite a bit. We took it very slow and was ok.

USFS, 8$ with a pass. Great place to overnight. 10 sites, you mighty need to catch it on a weekday, it might get busy? But we’re the only ones here tonight, and it’s a Saturday night? Nice host.

I been coming here off and on spending a night or 2 on each side of the high way. It’s a nice spot to rest for a bit but I suggest coming later at night and leaving early morning. Also try to part near the end so you don’t block other people there to use restrooms.

Approx 20km on gravel/rocky road from the town of Radium Hot Springs. Approx 5 free Campsites first come first serve with picnic benches and fire pits.. Some sites closer together than others. Dirt biking can be heard near by. Otherwise quiet lake. Stayed one night on weekend. Noted some other “unofficial sites” made and used by others. Would stay again. One bar of cellular service noted as well.

Very quiet and secluded spot of NF-257. Stayed here after spending the day exploring the North Rim. Flat, easy access, fire ring. The dirt road was good getting here, although there were some old muddy ruts you need to straddle. Good AT&T and T-Mobile service.

Nice showers but $15. Wait was less than 5 min. Everything looks really knew and updated, the shower rooms are huge. Fantastic water pressure, HOT water, and very clean!

This is a great park! Mostly RV spots with 5 or 6 tent spots. Nicely spaced out so not right directly next to each other. A lot of the spots overlook the lake. Quiet. Beautiful. $10 a night for the tent spots. They have a lovely garden & nature conservancy. Pets on leashes also welcome. Only problem is I wish we could stay longer.

The spot is easy to find thanks to the other commentaries.

We saw a couple of ground dogs. It is peaceful but be aware of ticks!

The eastbound side was small. ‘Parking Area’ - not technically a ‘Rest Stop’. Had to park on the shoulder because no space for my RV. Only fits 6-7 RV’ sorry big rigs. Loud could hear the road and train passing.

Huge Parking lot near fuel station and restaurant. 10-20 big rigs and Rv’s. Park away from gas station for a quiet night. Can’t hear highway. Fairly Level. 2-3 bars of ATT cellular.

Nice place and nice view. But we had to stay inside the camper because there were lots of flying insects. I think this is a seasonal problem.

Quiet except for some ducks quacking now and again. Arrived arrived 1015pm and then walked to the beach around 9am. There were other vehicles camping on this stretch of the road but we could all spread out. Road is next to an agricultural field

Update May 2021;

Nyakanazi - Kasulu
The first 50km is perfect new tarmac, then 15km of good bypass roads due to road works and then a long bumpy red dirt road to Kasulu, sometimes smooth and sometimes bone rattling but it is all under construction on some level so give it a year and it will be tarmac all the way.

Kasulu-Kigoma is new tar already.

And don’t be put off by the comments of those that travel Africa with big trucks, normal size cars and 4x4’s drive these roads with ease all the time, just rainy season can be challenging

A small road takes you away from themain road into the forest with nice flat compact sand and level ground, so no mud and no people around and not visible from the road. Perfect stop over.

Local simples, a represa agrega valor.

Small clearing in the woods in the George Washington NF, just off the road about 50ft. Room for several small vehicles, got in fine with our van.

Stone fire ring, nothing else but nature!

No AT&T cell at all.
