Beautiful Campsite with amazing hosts. Definitely worth stopping for a night or 2. phenomenal sunset over the river and plenty of birds. So peaceful after the bustle of Epupa. Private ablutions at each campsite. Free firewood. Good WiFi.
Cold beer available.

With the new bridge and faculties now open the costs have risen dramatically, average car for bridge is 350kw, for cars and Van's its 450kw, carbon tax scam is 480kw and $20 toll fee.
Sadly I can see this affecting tourism badly in Zambia.....this is how corruption begins when everyone wants a slice of the takings.
I was from RSA and feel it's time vehicles from other southern African countries get charged in same value ie reciprocal agreements, like for like
Think I'll approach my MP and he can push this agenda forward.
Another let down is poor value for money in Zambian across the board, from food to camping

After talking to the owner, the campsite is still closed and the lodge only fits big rigs lower than 3.4 meters so we went to the Landmark Hotel

Nice camping but only space for 10 vehicles. Enough spots for tents. You can also rent fully equipped cabins. Direct access to the beach.

No issues with incline. Did this route today from the Ferry in Sierpe the road has clearly been improved. You still need a 4x4 to cross one river at the end that’s knee deep in June.

Nice little splash park to play in and ward off the heat. $5 to enter, $1 for non-swimmers, kids under 2 free. They have a tiny food stall and toys, etc. to rent and showers in the changing rooms.

Great free spot. Location is next to a quarter-mile, easy/moderate trail leading to a small waterfall and on to a beautiful creek and large rock cliffs across the water. Almost like a mini private Hocking Hills. Spacious, flat, gravel parking area with room for most any rig. No signs prohibiting overnight parking. Spotty Verizon signal. Trash can, but no other amenities. A small family showed up to go play in the river and they said it is also a good fishing spot. River looked too muddy for me to want to swim. Otherwise quiet. Huge Mulberry tree at the back of the lot with ripe berries (late June).

National forest campground, free, no amenities.

5 spots total, room for multiple vehicles at each depending on size. Stone fire pits at each spot as well.

Road in from the 2 is paved all the way, road within the camp is hard packed dirt.

No AT&T service at all.

Since the new bridge and facilties have opened pricing has increased dramatically so be aware.
The so called scam carbon tax the government is charging cost me 480kw for a 2.4cc diesel vehicle, the real mad cost is crossing the bridge at 450kw. plus the $20 toll fee.
Got insurance for 162kw but of course they didn't have change which is done on purpose. I can't comment yet on the insurance scam but feel the people reporting it have been scammed by the insurance people as they are paid commission.
Sadly overall Zambia is not becoming viable as Tourist destination when crossing borders, considering these fees, fuel and camping/accomadation Zambia is not really a wow destination like mozam, zimbabwe and definitely nowhere near as cool as Malawi, the borders are also exspensive.
you can buy a Airtel sim for Kw10 in Livingston near Checkers or where ever, when you activate it you get 5gigs

first, they only serve gringo food (hamburgers, chips, pasta, sandwiches), the quality is average but what really annoyed us was the waiting time. we were the only 2 people here and they decided to serve a 30 people table before us, so we had to wait around one hour to get a sandwich. BAD, the Mayan place ahead was much better.

the fee now is 90 pesos pp, which is totally a scam. You've got 3 options,

1. drive thru and be very clear telling them you are just going to your hotel and you're not gonna pay (because you checked in the day before after 430)

2. find the road that surrounds the place, there's no one in the other side, it's about 15 km on a dirt road.

3. come after 430

our shock absorbed fell in our way from Sancris, this was the only place open on Sunday, he welded it on the place next to it.
then we asked the other guy about a bad sensor and he tried to look at it but declared incompetent as my van is a an GMC and they don't have what was needed.

will go to LUJANs TOMORROW!!! :)

BEAUTIFUL spot on top of a hill with a view of the ocean. There are plenty of spots available since it's just a gravel lot. There were a few other overnighters when we were there. Not very good Verizon reception.

10 tent spots $25 a night. Bathrooms with shower. 24 rv spots with water, sewer and electric. 6 spots right next to the river. We were greeted as soon as we entered and the hosts were super nice. Next to a highway but the river running pretty much drowns the sound out.

Large spot at top of ridge line. Large fire pit set up and dried wood all around. Amazing views of Olympic mountains and stars at night. Large enough for a few vehicles. Road can be narrow coming in and a few switchbacks, there will be some scrapes. 2-3 bars of Verizon 4G

Can't get anywhere near the river. Signs are posted saying "No Vehicles". Could still camp in the exposed area by the train tracks but I was hoping to be closer to the water.

Many spots — some double spaces, some single — all with fire pits and tables. We stayed in spot #24 which was right near pit toilets. Did not seem super buggy when we were here surprisingly. Payment system is paid with depositing cash in an envelope so make sure you have some on you before coming, receipt from envelope goes on camp spot post. sites now $20USD/night. Most spot pretty level. Saw some baby moose too!

Beautiful campsite in a stunning location. R350 per night for 2 adults + 2 kids. Big rig friendly for some sites. Limited cellphone reception and ok wifi at the site we had (K21). Great walks available up to lava tunnels and San paintings. Only one other camper there when we stayed (June), and only a couple of people staying in the cabins, but could get very busy on weekends in season. Big outdoor swimming pool which would be nice in summer, and small kids play area.

Now its closed for Normal cars. We have been there. But the normal access is blocked with a barrier. If you have a four-wheel drive car you can drive up a very steep path. But really off-road. The place was visited by youngsters and anglers from time to time. It was still very nice for swimming.
