makoventuretravel.com | We came here for the chocolate making demonstration and loved it, $14 BZ per person (they accept PayPal if you don’t have cash on you). We walked here in 100 degree heat so we were ragged when we arrived and they were so nice, offering us water and turning the fans for us. We learned a lot in the demonstration and enjoyed mixing up the drinking chocolate. They also sell the raw Cacau nibs, cocoa powder made in house, and chocolate tea leaves, among other things. |

Adriaan&Isabelle | We went to this mechanic because he was recommended by a member of ih8mud (a Land Cruisers forum). We had him inspect our suspension (after repairs done in Guatemala) and replace engine oil, automatic transmission fluid, brake fluid and coolant. He was unable to locate filters for our exotic 1HD-FTE diesel engine but even Toyota needs weeks to import those. We'll try again in the USA. |

bkaupe | Back again. Nothing different, even the Indian cricketers (IT guys on long contract) were still here. It’s still a great stop near the border and a city worth visiting. Pool open. $500 |

instagram.com/ryan.j.drewes/ | Camping spot with fire ring at the top of the hill. Recommend 4x4. It’s a little steep going up. Joshua tree at the site as well. Wind came ripping through at 2 am so the truck was shaking for a few hours. Enjoy the view. |

Ollie | This is a sweet spot if you're fine with some recreation noise. The road in is in pretty rough shape, so drive slow. But, with that said, there are multiple 360 mountain/cactus views. 3 bars LTE Verizon. (and in case you're like me and struggle with the lock, put in the code, PRESS all the numbers in and pull to open it). |

Adriaan&Isabelle | Had trouble finding it - changed OPs description. No wait, no hassle. We love small border crossings. We did forget to get stamped out of Mexico and had to come back from the US to do that. |

wanderingquilter.com | Nice location just off I40. Most of the park is occupied by long term RV’s which I don’t view as an issue. I was looking for electric to recharge my batteries and a hot shower and that’s what I got. I do think they could do a better job keeping things cleaned up around some of the more permanent RV’s though, it would make the park a little more inviting. |

car_full_of_dreams | Beautiful place with view on snowy peaks 🏔 We drove a bit further up. A bit of a challenge to level the car but we managed after some effort. Our location: 35.036426, 46.610621. Some aggressive horseflies around, but maybe this is only in spring. But still, a gem of a spot! As being said, a walk to the klif end is definitely worth it. |

lauramichellewoods | we stayed here for a few nights last week, but looks like they have security now and there aren't any RVs in the lot anymore. not sure if it's a permanent change to no overnights or not! |

charliebrown83 | This is a truly awesome area for BLM camping, one of the last tree stars for sure. Miles of primitive road but drivable. Some areas more soft/wash-like but plenty that are firm enough for any vehicle. There are some other more long term type RVs but for the most part it's apparent that they prioritize keeping it tidy and that's way cool. But you can find spots farther away up Wheeler Rd for something more remote. The whole area starts at only about 1 or 2 miles from town so also very convenient. Lots of joshua trees and rock formations, pretty cityscape view at night. Good Verizon signal. If you're in an RV I would not recommend going thru Higgins Rd as the other listings suggest because it's got a few sketchy areas like ditches that may be hard to maneuver so instead I'd suggest one of the other several roads that will take you directly to Wheeler rd if you just open maps you can see them. wishing you peace and wellness friends |

Adriaan&Isabelle | Use this waypoint to find the entrance for crossing the border by vehicle (other side streets are blocked). Note that once you pass this waypoint, you cannot go back, AND that you will see no more Mexican officials. Make sure you're stamped out of Mexico and have your TIP cancelled (if not returning before it expires) before entering here. Opening hours: 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. |
