Super windy so be careful cooking or making fires. The first spot is definitely large enough for multiple vehicles or a large RV. The second spot is smaller and a little further down the road from this marker. No service with Verizon but you can't beat the proximity to the falls!

Forest service public lands. 1LTE verizon walk up the hill. Trees break the wind. Fire pit. Silent. Peaceful. Could totally tent. Easy U turnaround.

Access road was soggy from snow, so we didn't attempt it in our van. Plenty of pull offs on the main road though! The main road has TONS of deep potholes, watch your tires!

This spot is so peaceful and beautiful! The sand has a lot of fish scales so I’d probably not walk around this beach barefoot. But such a beautiful spot!! Stayed here one night but I would have stayed more!

Road mostly paved by now. No problems for 4x2, no high clearance needed. Very nice road from Huancabamba to Pozuzo. We did it twice.

crossing the road, there's a path you can reach the river for water.

I think the owner don't really want any overlanders here, we come a Sunday and try to contact him by WhatsApp without issue. After trying the bell, his neighbor comes and he phone him with an other number, the owner say this we cannot come due to a children birthday but the next will be OK. So we contact him the next day, and he says all is employed are on a day free, we ask if we can come and never have an answer!!

Wonderful rest area. Stayed 10pm-7am on a Monday night and it was very quiet; only 2 other folks spending the night. A decent ATT service. Can confirm the northbound rest area is superior the southbound. Northbound is more secluded in the trees and slightly elevated above 101. Southbound is very open right on the highway.

Preferred this beach over Playa Cerritos if you’re not surfing and don’t want to be with the crowds. Plus you can actually see the ocean from camp. The views are great! We also have a dog and this beach was perfect for running around. The waves were huge so we didn’t swim.

Before 2pm or so, we were the only ones there. The closer it got to sunset, more locals came and went but no issues and everyone left after sunset. If you have 4x4 and high clearance you can drive down to the beach. It’s super soft and deep sand but we saw a truck drive around with no issue.

Good for a night, nobody bothered us and we felt perfectly safe. Cops drove by twice at night. Palenque is hotter than the dickens.

We’ve parked there last minute and slept in our car. You cant park on the beach side but you can park on the other side of the road! There ist plenty of space and after 8pm it was also quiet. There is a restroom close by. We’ve enjoyed breakfast with a view (: as two young woman we felt safe there.

Standard CB stay - parking lot lights on all night, light road noises. I was actually the only RV/Van, so that was nice. There were no generator noises or idle engines.

Lots of space and a wonderful view. It says on a sign camping in tents is forbidden, not sure about cars/vans/campers. Toilets seem to be permanently closed. Very calm during the night, hikers and Mountainbikers in the morning.

Water spigot right next to road as described. Was locked. Maybe for the winter. Go to Loves or the county fairgrounds.

Public aire, free for anyone with a motorhome or camper or vehicle for sleeping in. Safe area, close to town centre, toilets and potable water, empty waste (black and grey), rubbish bins nearby. Close to main road, but a good location, space for about 75 vehicles.

Ruben was very friendly, helped us immediately and kept us updated with what's app photos. Although the workshop seemed professional, the problem (brakes sometimes stuck) was not found.
At the next workshop, the problem was immediately identified by a read-out device. Ruben only disassembled and cleaned the brakes.

Planet Fitness parking lot. Since I'm a member of PF, I just went in, explained I was passing through and asked if I could stay the night. The answer was yes!! No services available unless you're a member. T
here is a grocery store next door and other stores and gas station close!

We like this NFS area because it is quiet, private yet open. It is easy to access. No Verizon signal. We have stayed here twice.

The coordinate are incorrect. We did find the location just off the exit of the highway. It's not a good location. Would not recommend

Hard packed sand and easy for any vehicle to drive in . There’s lots of places to camp and even some spots with Shade. I think you can stay here for free for 14 days . Also Verizon 2 bars 5G !

Everything was great, everyone was very helpful! Meet the dad of Shawn, Butch, really nice guy! During the night there is a security guy, but if you explain to him that you got the recommendation from iOverlander and will talk to Shawn or already talked to Shawn, then everything is fine!

We reached the area in the early afternoon and after a nice hike in the surrounding desertic mountains, we went to Calderones, the next village, to buy groceries. The visit to the village was great, with very nice interactions in the tiendas.

We decided to set up camp next to the antenna towers which had the most accessible overlook of Guanajuato.

We set up cameras to capture timelapses of the sunset and city lights. By 10pm, we realized one of the cameras was missing. Checking the footage of the other, we realized someone had been creeping around our camping site for more than an hour, watching us from different directions and getting really close to our tent and gear.
After reviewing the footage, we quickly packed up and headed to the city to get a hotel room.

One of the best place to stay for a night. Beautiful view, quite calm although the highway is not too far. There was just another camper with me and you have picnic tables!

We camped with a canvas tent on the beach.
Place frequented by locals until sunset and quiet at night (just a little noise from trucks passing on the road).
There is even a guard who stays all night to monitor the equipment (chair and tables).
Superb sunset.

Nice spot, quiet after 10-11pm, other overlanders also slept here. Nice walk to restaurants on the beach front.
Tons of cruise ship tourists though.

Seaweed smell is a bit off putting when you come during Seaweed season, most restaurants in the beach clean it up which makes it nice to swim though.
