This is a pretty neat site with nice views and a nice campfire ring. You can get pretty level here. I wouldn’t bring my 2WD sprinter down here, but I’m also a pretty cautious person, so check it out for yourself. 4WD vehicles would be fine and you would have a lot of privacy.

Propane Gas filling station. Did not found another one in Hinton. Husky no longer services. You pay per bottle!

Clearing under the pines opposite the houses overlooking a large grass clearing. Quite and peaceful. Best for stealth camping.

This spot looks quite a bit different from OP’s photos now - looks like it’s been logged so is quite a bit more open. Also saw on one sign “no camping” (see photo) so I opted for the gravel pull-off just up the road and was not bothered. I doubt I would have been at this spot, but felt better without that sign. BUT a beautiful spot to access the lake. I got to see fireflies and lighting in the distance.

Quiet and silent place, with kitchen, bathrooms with hot shower, swimming pool and barbecue. Very welcoming staff.

The food is a bit more expensive than in the side streets but the tree on the square is full of Tucan birds, which is quite spectacular.

On a small dirt road not to far into the forest from the gravel road. The dirt road keeps going but it gets pretty narrow. Low branches on the way to the campsite.

Backcountry permit required.

A 8:30, nous avons eu droit à une annonce d’un résident très fâché qui a crié que nous ne sommes pas les bienvenues, d’aller au camping, qu’ils paient des taxes pour ce parking et pas nous.

Great! New machines that work well! 36 minutes to wash and 30 minutes to dry. 40 pesos per wash or dry. Covid only 1 person allowed in at a time, wear a mask. Easy street parking out front. Bonus: awesome taco stand/deli/cheese store across the street.

Good option, close to the ruins for 50pp. Toilets were clean, no tp. Cold showers are fine, just a lot of cobwebs and bugs drawn to the lights at night, it is the jungle after all! Tent camping spots look great with little roofed spaces. Luckily it was cool weather when we visited!

We thought we could beat the system by staying at Michol and arriving after 4:30pm, but you pay the 97p for park entry when you buy your Palenque ticket now.

Far enough from town to be really calm. Entry road is rough for 50m , but if you take care, it's doable with every vehicle, it looks worse than it is. Natural area with rocks and plants and views of the mountains and plenty of camping options, most of them just not completely flat. 4G reception.

‘You will be welcomed everyday‘ here is very great for us, off-season travelers. Gustavo is humorous and working well to preserve this place. Hot shower, common area under the roof, beautiful garden etc. You can enjoy their own trail and bar too.

Beware that the road to get here is very rocky narrow steep road. The creek was very low but if coming in rainy season the bridge to cross could be 5 feet deep. As mentioned it is very busy, we didn’t get a spot to camp on a Friday afternoon. There are only 5 tent sites separated from the parking spot, you could sneak in a van in the parking spot but no RV would fit. Don’t get your hopes up this is a well known local spot. Otherwise if you’re lucky enough to get a spot here it is beautifully green! No internet but two bars of texting service for Verizon.

The pizza is SO good. The pizza menu changes weekly and can be found on their website. Pride-themed Cupcake was also good and my dog loved his woof bone. They have an extensive menu, super cozy inside and outside.

Dog friendly place, I saw people bringing their dogs inside to order but then went outside to eat with their pup. The outside deck seating area is so cute!

There is no parking lot, have to park on a residential street but I have a Sprinter and was fine.

Awesome spot! A bit of a mud slip and slide on some parts but if you’re in a 4 wheel drive with enough clearance, should be okay. We were in a 2020 Subaru Outback.
