I can fully confirm the initial post. Very friendly staff, let us sleep in front of the hotel in our camper.
Check out their Puna Tea with Coca leaves, very helpful to cope with the altitude of 3750 m 😊

This is a beautiful, tranquil (and cold) spot next to the water and near the road going to the cave paintings. If you get a permit in Laraos (the entrance point about 45 minutes beforehand) you can fish trout from the lake. We saw LOTS of different types of local birds. We asked permission to camp here at a nearby house, and I suggest you do the same. You pay 5 soles to enter the town of Laraos, but it’s totally worth it. Everything is wonderfully signposted, you get a brochure of the touristic attractions and a map, and there’s free wifi in the plaza.

You can take a warm shower here for 3 soles. It wasn’t clean but it got the job done!

Free wifi in the plaza! No Bitel cell service anywhere near here, so this was a godsend.

Very simple accomodations at Pousada Familiar, in Perequê. Near everything. Ok for just one night and for not too exigent people. Breakfast only coffee, milk, bread, butter, ham and cheese. For me it is pretty acceptable for the price. 60 per person per night on november 2022

it's now 80pesos for 24h (negociate 150 for 2 days). gate close between 20.30 to 6.30 and and you have to stay inside your camper.. toilets close also at night and during the day you have to ask for the key. the owner told us it's a really dangerous area.. I don't know if it's really true.

Clean locker rooms and showers. Only $8 for a day pass which includes usage of the facility, upstairs weight room, down stairs weight room (meets ADA) basketball court and dry sauna.
Bright lights and white tile to see just how clean it's kept up.

Spoke to a ranger who said the camping for here and ventisquero isn’t open until December. They are also clearing the trails now so only the Darwin trail was open as of this date. Not sure when the other trails will be open though!

Despite the Dumpster pickup Sunday night at 2:30 AM. This is a fairly quiet CB because of the location up on top of a hill.

Decent place to stay if you roll in to town late like we did. It’s like staying at someone’s grandma’s house.

Stayed here 2 nights - good enough while resetting gear on bike for next leg of mission. Clean, friendly staff, secure parking. I paid 100 reals/night.

It is back open. Relatively small number of spots but nice overall. Further away from road so less noise. Decent cell.

I followed the ‘forbidden’ road until the very end, without seeing anything that looked like a campsite. No signs whatsoever, so I bumped back to the main road…

This laundromat is permanently closed. There is another laundromat 1 mile up the road on the back side of the casino (same building) but it is not very clean.

Talked with a local and this spot is on an Indian reservation; they don’t recommend camping here.

!!WARNING!!
we drove to the top of the mountain at 4.30 to be met by cops and undercover cops. they searched our camper accusing us of carrying drugs but then finally let us go telling us to leave the area as they are "working" up here tonight. On the way down we had to squeeze past another 3 police vehicles with cops fully armed on their way to the summit

I have since found a local news article that explains the local cartel have been dismantling the satelites at the top of this summit. Treat the area with caution. We headed over to Tirolesa view point where its super safe to park up and has its own police security.
