We loved staying at Charlie’s place! We spent two nights exploring around the area. What a kind and thoughtful man. This is the closest thing to a BnB we have experienced in 8 months of travel, except it’s actually a campsite. Charlie made us coffee, he added charcoal to the fire when we grilled out together and shared a meal and helped us haul water from the creek to do laundry (free) in his washing machine. Good wifi, not a ton of solar, so it is helpful if you have a portable panel that you can move into the sun. Charlie speaks very slowly and clearly in Spanish and it was easy for us to understand him and speak to him in Spanish, even with our limited Spanish skills. He is proud of his clean and beautiful space and flowers and birds are abundant, including a motmot. Showers are only warm, but warm enough to enjoy even with a high temp of only 17C. 6000/night and child free.

Water spigot for on-board fill up. There are a few around the rest area but the best (and working) for filling an onboard tank is on the Campers/Trailers side by the restroom building. It’s almost to the exit ramp.

Parked at the edge of the lot with some other vans/cars. OP recommended the overflow area which might have been better, but I was fine. Felt great to have big clean washrooms, fast wifi, and even ate dinner inside to soak in the air conditioning.

3400 for a couple and a car. Campsite itself is quiet dirty and a lot of garbage. We found 1 toilet / shower combination that was okay. Warm water at least. Good thing is that it is close to center. Just 10 min walk. The boulevard is super cosy and good food.

That's simply amazing! What a great feature and service for the population. You obviously can't connect a hose because it's like a sculpture that has three water jets, but if you have any kind of container or jug, you're in business. And the even more wonderful thing is that it's even working during Winter.

Stayed here for about 2 weeks total. One of our last days a bunch of national forest rangers came to everyone’s camp and told us new rules are we cannot camp within 2 miles of the main road. You can drive down this road 2 miles with 2wd in good conditions but high clearance is needed to go that far in.

Oh my gosh YUM! Ordered the broccoli omelette and energy avocado toast for 295 pesos TO GO. I got two meals thinking the “fit” could possibly be small portions 😆 I was wrong! I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the day! Loved it all, so good! Really good hot sauce options. Staff was super nice and friendly, a couple of them spoke English.

Nous avons passé 1 nuit ici, parfait pour 1 nuit, quelques camions avec nous, le restaurant en face propose à emporter ou sur place. Pas le spot le plus calme mais sûr.

We spent 1 night here, perfect for 1 night, a few trucks with us, the restaurant opposite offers take out or dine in. Not the quietest spot but safe.

We came here by way of Tecolote beach. Tecolote is very busy, and there are always issues with petty crime, so we chose to go over the hill and camp just west of this marker. We think it was a great choice. Not many campers around, and those who were here were very spread out. Insane sunrise and sunset views.

Zero cell phone reception, regardless of carrier. Starlink has perfect view of the sky and its normal fast numbers. No problems whatsoever. Plenty of sun for your panels too.

(we use to report on cell service for people trying to work off grid; IG: @pampas.overland)

Best place to start your hike. Which you can do by yourself, you don’t need a tour company for that!
Especially if you have all the gear (tent etc)
Even if you don’t, speak to the host of this place, he will help you reserve a small hut or tent on the mountain.
It’s a hard hike but absolutely worth it.

The place is expensive (50qtz pp), and you need to pay the same amount for the night when you sleep on the mountain and not in your vehicle.
But toilets are clean and there are hot showers.

Stayed the night on our way to Nashville without any problems. Don't be discouraged by the "No Overnight" sign. Just be sure to call ahead and ask permission or go into the restaurant when you arrive, as there is security on the lot during the night - and they will tell you to move, if they haven't been told otherwise by the manager.

Great spot, so clean for a public place, no trash whatsoever. Far enough away from interstate and railway so there's only faint background noise.

Thanks to the OP.

Country club that is open during the day for activities such as donkey and horse rides, zip lining and paintball. Busy with families and day guests. Nice atmosphere. Has a bar and restaurant.

Not set up as a campsite but has a large flat carpark out of the way of the main activity areas so some privacy. Opened a shower for us to use and cleaned it between each use. Quiet at night as the place closes around 7pm. Security present overnight and offered to light a campfire for us.

The staff are very friendly, they even brought in our washing when it rained and we were out.
