To add to the comment below, we spoke to a number of locals about this path and they all reiterated that the section close to Cape Town is not safe or advisable to cycle on. Instead if you are leaving Cape Town heading North you can cycle on Highway 1 for like 1km and then join the R27 north.

Don’t be daunted by the fact it’s a highway, there’s a really wide shoulder the entire way after the first few hundred metres and it is completely safe. Eventually once you’ve left the city the R27 has a fantastic bike path alongside it (you can’t miss it) that you can rejoin. We felt safe the entire way using this route - one that was recommended to us by two different local bike shops.

What a pleasure! 5min to do our immigration and customs to exit Malawi. Entry to Zambia no visa required, and very efficient. Our only delay was requiring 185 Kwacha or so to pay the carbon tax & having to resort to the money changers as next ATM 30km or so away.

Clean toilets, and everything still new and sparkling.

Quiet and very safe place. Parqueadero of a family that lives next door, super sweet and helpful. I got water and there's an outlet on site but we didn't use it.

Still a decent place to go. Termales have a lot of minerals so they all have sort of a dirty color, but nice and relaxing. The camping was fair. Not easy to find a level spot and a few barking dogs all night long near the building. So recommend to park as far away from the parking area as possible to minimize noise. Claro is marginal.

Great, level site a short walk from both the Deschutes River and Crane Prairie reservoir. Level and can accommodate several rigs. I’d imagine it’d be fairly popular during peak season. Treed with old growth ponderosa pine and fir.

As described, gravel road is well kept a few houses but no one around very quiet and beautiful. Spent 1 night, 2-3 trucks drove by in the time we were here. Pull off is right before a Creater of the Moon National Monument Sign but the pull off is BLM land it has been verified by a park ranger on a map. We'd come back and stay.

Asphalt parking lot next to La Quinta. We overnighted here before our appointment at the Mexican Consulate. There was a deputy there when we arrived & he said it wouldn’t be an issue for us to park overnight. Did warn about vehicle break ins and not to open the door for anyone if they knocked. The surface was level and there were a couple of 18 wheelers parked at the opposite end of the lot. It certainly isn’t quiet as it’s surrounded by highways & there are a lot of parking lot lights but convenient for one night if need downtown early.

We booked a tour to the Mines with Big Deal Tours and they let us stay in their garage for free. We ended up staying two days and also visited the Mint museum.

The place is very safe, has clean toilets and sinks, sockets and it is warmer than outside. They offered us to use their showers as well, but we didn't try them. It's also possible to stay in their yard instead of the garage.

The Tour was very good, our guide Wilson was great, he is a miner himself and also has the humor of a miner. He speaks very good english. You can contact Big Deal Tours at: +591 71835516, ask for Wilson:)

Very friendly and helpful. They pointed us to Petlandia in the mall across the street to get a health certificate for our dog. The vet there knows what's needed and it cost $16.000. They said they have 24hrs to complete the export paperwork, but when we asked if they could do it in one day, they made it happen! The export paperwork costs $10.500

Be aware, visiting hours only from 9-14hrs.

We spent two nights in this parking lot, which is at the end of the avenue. The place is very quiet and we felt safe. There are no facilities close by. The parking space is huge and all types of vehicles can fit.

A comida é deliciosa.

It's a lovely cafe, which also welcomes motorhomes. They let us spend the day at the tables (between 6 people), using sockets and Wi-Fi, as if it were a coworking space and in return they only asked us to consume something. The food is delicious.

Had a very quiet night, guarded by the friendly owners‘ dogs. Clean bathroom, hot shower. Didn’t see any pools, but we couldn’t go very far into the campsite, we had to stay right at the entrance because of our height and the low trees.

A great Rv Park close to the national park. It has a coworking space, showers, kitchen, bathrooms and Wi-Fi. There is a Rugby club and an equestrian center.
Suitable for large rv. Laura and Adolfo, their owners, are super friendly and the place is super safe.

Very pretty swath of BLM land on a plateau overlooking the valley N of Milan. Great cell signal, no local traffic, some highway and train noise. Take the highway overpass W of the transfer station, continue towards the Cibola National Forest. There's a dirt road that forks south (your left coming from the overpass) 100 yards before the cattle guard that marks the border. Looks like it used to be blocked by a cable, but it was open at the time of this post. Road follows the NF border (on the BLM side, there's a fence delineating the actual border) for about a mile. There's turnout halfway with a good view, and a big turnout at the end that's more wind sheltered. Made it easily in a '78 Step van, but I don't recommend anything longer than 25' or trailers due to limited turnaround. Road won't be passable after heavy rain. All spots along this road are in BLM land if you don't have a reference map.
Overall, some prime public lands camping and a great spot if you have to get some remote work done. LNT my friends!

On a hillside set back from the town. There is town noise. The campsite is very pleasant with grass and shade from trees. The ablutions work but some toilets are without seats. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a good stopover to and from Malawi.

cozy, quiet spot with okay T-Mobile reception. It does go in and out.

I got in late last night and was able to find a comfortable spot. There are other campers within eye shot. Pretty good distance apart.

I found an abandoned dog this morning, seems as if the owners have been living here for about seven months. They have neglected their dog, and it runs freely to other peoples campsites. Super sweet golden named Tanner. It just looks so lost and confused. It’s absolutely devastating and heartbreaking, I travel with two dogs myself, and I would never abandon them. After having the dog hang around for several hours, I called the police about 30 minutes ago and I’m still waiting for them to arrive.
If there is solution to this abandoned dog issue, I will not be staying. I cannot handle this type of neglect. It’s devastating.
To any ‘human’ out there who feels the need to abuse or abandon their animals, you don’t deserve to wander this planet and I hope you fall of the face of the earth.
