Stayed here about 4 months ago, no problem, but a no overnight parking sign has been added since then.

Friendly welcome from Frikkie. Chalets and 3 campsites. Little wooden iron hut with toilet and donkey boiler shower. Kitchen sink and small table. Restaurant on site. They offer light meals for walk-ins and booking required for 3 course meal. Beautiful setup, all well maintained and super clean. Highly recommended. Pd 190pp camping.

Beautiful place! Small, secure parking lot, where you can stay with a (not too big) motorhome (no hight limits). When you camp you can use all the facilities. Great garden, barbecue, common kitchen, clean toilet & shower with hot water. Paid 30B pp incl breakfast. There are also cabanas and there is a restaurant (closed for diner when we where there). Nice owner and coworker.

Party over the weekend but 18h30 all went quiet and we had the camp for ourselves.

Rodger supplied some firewood and we camped under shaded trees on the river. No power no water at site.

The D20 road from Kasama to Mkorokosa is tar but past Mkorokosa west it's washed away into dongas and not drivable.

Nice place for overnight stops. Had full hookups and rough camping.

Stayed at spot SBT104... it's on the end, closest to the showers/restrooms, but not TOO close. Right on the water, tiny sandy beach. Folks were swimming in the lake... we didn't get in as it was dirty/buggy. Not sure if it's just this time of year, but the bugs were INSANE. swarms and swarms of them.

160 Pula is too much for what you get. Lot of noise from the trucks at the border post. Campsite is only an open field and toilets some distance away

A little loud but earplugs got rid of that problem. Sometimes a little stinky if there is a cattle truck in the truck lot. Lots of car parking and very few overnighters on a Sunday night.

24 hour welcome center good place to sleep for a bit

Perguntamos se podíamos dormir e o pessoal da informações turísticas foram super simpáticos.

Nos indicaram usar as tomadas nas palmeiras que ficam no canteiro central que foram eles mesmos que colocaram, falaram que podíamos usar a água e até ofereceram a senha do wi-fi.

Passamos uma noite e foi super tranquilo.

The Hirz Bay Group 1 Campground sits on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake in a forest of oak and Manzanita. A variety of recreational activities are offered here, including a nearby boat ramp for water sports and a hiking trail. This camp is ideal for groups of up to 120 people.

I would not recommend coming here. This place has clearly fallen into a state of disrepair since the last reviews were written. The showers are no longer working, there are pit toilets but no toilet roll and no running water to the sink. There’s no food on offer. The common area was piled high with junk so we couldn’t use it. We were able to wash up our dishes in the kitchen but only after we got the owner to clear a huge mound of dirty dishes that looked like they hadn’t been touched in weeks.

There were approx. 5 people who as far as we could tell live on the site along with the owner, no one was rude but also no one was particularly friendly (eg. We weren’t told where anything was we just had to figure it out ourselves/ ask). We were made to feel as if we were crashing at someone’s house and they were doing us a favour letting us stay rather than us being paying guests. Note: we were the only guests staying so might be different if you visit when others are here but not sure. We just felt as if the people running the site had never had guests stay before - which obviously is a completely different experience from the other reviewers so might be a new owner?

Also if you’re staying in a van you have to park up at the main entrance as the path down to the beach is too narrow to drive down - so it’s not really beach side camping unless you’re in a tent. The beach is lovely and peaceful with a beautiful view of the mountains but unfortunately we didn’t feel that was worth the money we paid. You can get that some view for free just by wild camping along this coast.

Lastly there are 3 dogs roaming free on the site, they were lovely and friendly during the day but at night seemed to bark and anything and everything so as a result we kept getting woken up.

We paid 900 som for the night (sleeping in our van).

free camping at rest stop for self contained vehicles. pit toilet. road is quiet at night. 10 min drive from lake tikapo. very convenient. 4g phone reception with onenz. if you have a dog. the adjacent fields are poisoned for pests don't let you dogs get over the fence
