cool area, many different places available. if you have a 4x4 you can get far from the road, if not then closer. Some cows. There is the beginning of a house, some walls, next to that you can leave the road.

So many great spots to boondock here right in the lake. It is busy during the weekends.

Bank with ATM and exchange bureau. I didn't use the ATM (so no info on fees) but the exchange bureau offered great rates USD-TZS. Better than the changers at the crossroads.

impossible to access at the moment. the entrance is completely rutted with deep muddy pockets filled with water after some rain the day before. I tried from all angles to get onto either of the dirt roads but it was impossible without almost certainly getting stuck. if you come here, I would make sure it hasn't rained in a while and that you have AWD.

3 or 4 places with a beautiful view. You can get down to the beach through a small path on the side, or slide down the edge !

GORGEOUS. Gate was open, no signs. Another camper came late at night. Thought it was the dreaded knock but it was a lovely couple just trying to get some rest and a view of the sunrise like me. Do your part and pick up some of the trash around to carry out. Wish I could stay longer but there’s only 1 bar of LTE and mama needs to get on a zoom call.

There are pull-offs along the gravel road to the East of the lake/pond here (opposite side from the paid campground). As far as I could tell, this park has no closing hours and I didn't notice any "no camping" signs. I spent a night- got there after dark and left at sunrise- and wasn't bothered. I didn't get confirmation they allow wild camping; it's public land so stay stealthy and you should be fine. Portapotty was set up when I was there.

Super friendly welcome! After a long drive from Lanquin we ended up here. Room is fine! Everything you need is available. The 2 swimming pools and the beautiful green surroundings are a plus. There are several palapas where you can sit under. Lots of parking options, but no idea if you can spend the night in your van. Due to the heat we took a room for 4, price is Q340 including swimming pool. Price worth it!

Since three generations they are producing hats in an artisanal way.
Freddy is super nice and took the time to explain all the details related to processing steps and available qualities from standard (30$) to fino-fino (500$).
Possibility to purchase here your hat. Staff friendly and welcoming.
We recommend highly !

Came during the middle of the week. Checked in late online. Had a bonfire and the campground was very quiet and hardly occupied. Some of the sites aren’t very level, but it is a beautiful campground. Driving a 22 foot shuttle bus and the spaces were plenty big enough. My spot was a pull in parking with no hook ups for $45. There are other options but I also just learned that the state park nearby allows wild camping with a permit. I would’ve much rather stayed there.

Do yourself a favor and stop here on a sunny day. The forecast showed nothing but wind for the day and following week. Pulled in here and escaped the wind, surprised by a lovely creek leading to the beach. A beautiful oasis if caught on the right day! We stayed at site 71, closest to the water. Had a little private path to the river from the site and we followed it down to the river (dipping in cold water optional but recommended). Great stop, only $21 for dry site.

Dump station right next to the fresh water fill area.
There’s are charge for dumping, I think. (We were here to fill our water tank (free), so I didn’t notice the price for dumping.)

Only about 10 feet from train tracks. Not sure if the trains actually go through here but we did not stick around to find out.

Useful spot at 3,300 m. altitude for acclimatisation. It's far enough from the highway to avoid the noise of the trucks. The small road that goes down to the village is quiet anyway.

Open 11 am to 9 pm, according to front desk staff, which is located in the restaurant adjacent to the lodging. Still $10. Four stalls in total.

Really liked the shower stalls: nice and roomy, gravel with concrete slabs on top. Unlimited time and hot water, towels and shampoo/soap provided. Friendly staff.

Beautiful spot for sunsets over the Pacific if you situate yourself just right. Right off the through road to the designated camp site. This spot is not marked designed, but it doesn’t say no camping either. We've been here 10 days with no issues. Use your own judgment. There has been very little traffic; days without seeing anyone. The weekend there were a few passers-bys. Many short trails in the area, mostly blue in difficulty. 30 minutes to 299 via Bair Rd. Old 3 Creeks Road at this time is closed. Not sure if that is permanent or seasonal. GPS wants to take you to 299 that way, but right now it is closed. The gravel road is well groomed with only a few dips, but very doable. We're here with a 28 ft. RV towing a Jeep. We haven't seen any wildlife but birds and other small forest creatures. 2 - 3 bars Verizon, 1 bar TMobile.

Great spot by firehall. Was lucky enough to have iceberg there. Enjoyed a campfire at the pit provided across the footpath/bridge. Easy for small/medium campers, might be a bit tight for tractor/trailer.

I got rained and snowed on my way to Tipicocha from Laraos with bicycle. Found a house on the left side of the street of the old village, where a shepherd stays sometimes with old rooms for minors I suppose. I could stay there and eat cachangas and drink coffees in another house at the exit of the village in direction of the mine. No Claro signal
