Got these spots all to ourselves. Quiet and nice ridge top area. Road was rough sharp rocks so for a full size van took about 10min going slow from main road. ATT has service here, if you have a booster expect 50mbps Up/ 12mbps Down.

Spent the night here— nice spot! No one else here, quiet with nice river noise. Great view of the Rio Grande gorge. Recommend!

Spent two nights and two and a half days here.
Payed the volunteer parking guy tips for him to keep an eye on the van while we were in town or at the beach. Felt safe enough at night, a few people came through late but in general after dark you have the place to yourself.

The volunteer parking guy asked if we had break resistant glass, which we didn't. He advised we'd be better off here if we did, so take that into account!

this was a gem of a great find for camping right on the water. It's free from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. just a stated in the description, I arrived around 4:30 so I just went ahead and paid the $7 so I didn't have to scout out somewhere else to stay until 8:00. got to spot right on the beach overlooking the water. My bathrooms leave a lot to be desired but I don't have to worry about that. their trash cans available. got to listen to the sound of the crashing waves all night and wake up to watch the surfers on the beach in the morning. I stayed in the parking lot to the south of the Taco Bell as it was a little less crowded when I got there. You can stay all day for $9 or 4 hours for $7. ideally you could stay for 24 hours if you don't mind paying a little bit. would be worth it for me if I wasn't on a timed road trip. wasn't bothered by anyone and it was relatively quiet even on a Friday night. Heard some people in the distance until around 11:00. if you're heading that way, great too be able to stay right outside of San Francisco yet close. Right across the street from a Safeway and rite aid plus other various little shops. And again, if you eat that kind of stuff, there's the iconic Taco Bell on the beach right there. about 2 mph South you'll find the Devil's Slide Bunker and a really nice walking trail. paved and a mile and a quarter from the South parking lot to the north parking lot with a 9% grade. took the dog for a walk this morning and it was great.

We didn’t stay. There is a sign posted “no camping”. Even though we’re in a self-contained RV and not in a car or tent, we didn’t feel comfortable staying.

Family owned business. They were really helpful and solved our filter problem on our diesel camper for a reasonable price ! Trustworthy !

Stayed here for two night. Really nice place with several pull offs. Several places have fire rings as well. Any one can make it back here just make sure you pick a spot 1/4 mile down the road as a sign says no camping for 1/4 mile

Great place to spend one or more days. You can stay on the premises of the Rainbow foundation. Everyday kids from the neighborhood come here for all sorts of activities. The founder of Rainbow, Michael is very welcoming. They can provide food. There’s a toilet and cold shower available. They’re working on making a kitchen and more facilities. This place is very new to Overlanders so there’s no set price yet. We made a contribution towards the foundation.
It’s best to contact Michael before coming: +256 784 875022

Right by the highway, location is easy to find and yes, they filled our US 9kg tank in less than 30 minutes. Sign said 10,700 for 5kg and 20, 500 for 11kg ( perhaps these are standard Chilean sizes ). Our 9kg tank was not empty and only needed 6kg to fill it - he kindly charged us 10,700, not 20,500 ! But normally you pay based on tank size, not how much you put in it. Takes credit card as well !!!

There is a guy waiting 200m before this toll. You will see him using his walkietalkie so they will know when you arrive. We just drove slowly through them. The windows closed and do as if we didnt understand, no gracias. Didn't pay the scam toll.

No problem parking here overnight, however, the Lowe’s across the way plays very loud music overnight to discourage parking in their lot and you can hear it at the Cracker Barrel lot. Just obnoxious.

We parked at the end of the road under a big tree, almost on the beach. We ordered cocktails at the Father Rooster restaurant and asked if we could use the restrooms during the night. The restaurant closes at night, but we were allowed to use the staff WC on the backside of the restaurant. We got wakened very early though by the fisherman around 5:30 am.

WARNING!!

I would not recommend going down the last slope without 4WD, it is very steep and loose.

I almost got stuck here and I regret adding this spot…

Original info:

Another spot off of old US-93, but at this spot the road is not visible and it’s a good amount quieter (no louder than the commercial flights coming in and out of Vegas).

Good, fast t-mobile service.

There is a short steep slope down to the site. It was a very sketchy getting out of here in a front wheel drive van (transit connect) but you should be fine with 4WD with good tires.

Road coming in is bumpy but doable in most vehicles.

Spot is big enough for 2-3 vans. Wouldn’t come here with anything bigger than a sprinter.

There’s a prominence nearby that’s a nice quick hike for sunset.

super quiet. the Walmart closes at 11pm now. most people parked by the gas station but I parked behind the auto center because there was grass for my dog over there and less noise. stayed there 2 nights would stay again if I needed to.

Now asking for 100c (we assumed per night but he looked surprised when I paid twice), but still really worth it. Now has decent WiFi too. Beautiful spot!

Parking lot 9430. Max. parking is 24 hours, no signs saying no overnight parking. The parking lot is between two breweries. Loud at night with music from the breweries and cars passing by the whole night but safe. There were a few other cars parked as well.
Parking lot is small so it only work for cars or camper vans. No RV’s
