This place is amazing! We ended up snagging a cancelled spot last minute on Halloween for our 25ft rig. right on the water with a great view of the lighthouse and full hookup. The manager and staff were super welcoming and helpful. The island used to be a fort and the remnants are scattered about to explore, and there’s a couple small beaches and big rocks to climb on (I also found a crab which was cool). Will be returning next year!

National Parks campsite. Neglected, but the view and abundance of wildlife more than made up for it! Lots of spots along the river. Neglected shared ablutions (flush toilets, cold showers, outdoor spigot). No electricity or Wi-Fi (slow Wi-Fi was available at the park office). When we tried to book ahead of time via Christine of ZimParks, she quoted us $115 per night. If you just show up they charge $23pp per night.

Lots of wildlife in camp! Hippos, elephants, baboons, vervet monkeys, kudu, waterbuck, impala, plenty of birds. Watch your vehicle closely! The monkeys will take anything.

There are also exclusive campsites with no ablutions, just long drop toilet, if you want a private campsite. Game and views seemed just as good at Nyamepi.

Unguided walking safaris allowed here with a permit. Guided walking or personal vehicle safaris $10pp per hour - show up at the park office and ask. Canoe safaris were on hold because canoes were damaged by hippos.

This is an official campsite near the Pyramid of Uxmal. The place is very well maintained. Lucia Lopez and her family is very friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers are very clean. Located directly on road no. 261.

Very basic hotel, bit dated but reasonably clean and centrally located and they don’t mind you having bicycles in the room. MX460 for a basic room without TV. WiFi is a bit slow. Popular with Baja Divide riders.

Very easy to get to, private, and secure. Within sight of the highway, but very little noise. Was quiet, and mostly clean. A few beer cans, but not bad for what it is (BLM land, apparently). When I was there I only saw one other human being in a pickup truck driving up the dirt road that leads to the site. They didn't even slow down.

Hotel Real is the new name. Right next to Pemex on main road thru down. Great hotel for 700.00 peso 2 person. Hot water , AC , wifi , secured parking in rear of hotel. Parking for most large vans don’t think a motor home will make the turn but the front desk said there is a rear gate for large vehicles.

Fairly noisy and VERY bright unless you can find a spot near the pack. You also can’t get wifi from the parking lot like some other stops.

Aka just outside Coastal Peak Park. One of the nicest informal camps! There are picnic tables and water fountains and flush toilets in the park, reasonably flat parking spots with 180 degree views of the mountains on the street. Quiet, clean and safe. Highly recommended versus a $60 state park camping. Minutes from Huntington Beach

A safe place to park for the night. A few other vans were here. There is also more parking in the area. Trains were quite loud throughout the night. Didn't sleep well.

Hidden gem! Wish we had known this place existed during the 7 years we have regularly been passing through the area. If you are bringing your own rig, max length is 28 feet. 8 sites, all with 30 amp, water and sewer. Excellent WiFi, one hot shower and many amenities for the non self contained camper. Quiet at night and very friendly staff. Highly recommend. Only $22 per night for off season week night.

Parked at the Rotary Trail Park parking lot instead of right on the main road. Stayed two nights (not consecutively) but wasn’t bothered and had fun exploring around especially at the Gelattly Nut Farm!

Great place to spend the night. Large churrascaria opens early and closes late with outside bathrooms. This well-maintained Posto is 24 hours with a 24 hour cafe, open bathrooms. Showers are $5 reais. Pay at the gas pump for the attendant to unlock the shower. A little noise from the highway and trucks pulling in. Arrive in the late afternoon to get a flat park below the restaurant. All other spaces fill with trucks at night.

We pulled in just as the sun was setting so didn’t want to explore any further. There was a large motor home parked right on the beach so we figured we’d be ok in our Transit van and we were. The sand gets deep quickly so don’t drive closer to the water than necessary.
Despite being so close to the road we had a decent sleep and enjoyed a lovely breakfast on the beach watching the pelicans having their breakfast too!
The Ley mini supermarket is just over 1 km away so an easy walk for some groceries. It’s a friendly town.
