Stayed here for two nights. Place is as described, nice location to do various tours around Monteverde.

It's a great and familiar tour here - highly recommended!
400Q per person - with included meals (desayuno an the day you leave, too), shelter & sleepingbags. Catalino is a really nice guy!
The guides are really nice, too, and are knowing what they are doing.
Rent hiking sticks, gloves & hat if you don't have it, to enjoy the gorgeous views in the cold night! Enjoy it!
Dogs are lovely welcomed.

You can camp for free on the footballfield if you are arriving day day before the tour starts. There you can leave your car safely during the tour, too.

just drove this road and the road is fine (dry season) last 40km to the coast bit slow and bumpy but still easy with a 4x4

It's probably the best place in Chacala if you are searching for a free stay. We were unlucky to get here over the weekend, so there was a LOT of traffic and loud music going on around the camper, but nothing that wouldn't stop around midnight. it's a fishermen's pier, the boats come and go constantly plus there's always sb watching over them so we felt safe even leaving our solar panels on the rooftop when we were going to the beach. There are no public facilities, but if you walk to the beach (around 5 min walk), you can find everything there. If you don't have a bathroom, it's kinda problematic to find a spot here. :D

Started my night on one side in a small secluded parking lot as there were other RVs. Woke up at 11pm and there was only 2 vans left. I trusted my gut and went on the opposite side towards the crackerbarrel which I had seen had many more people. Dont know if it was necessary but it made me sleep better to be reassured so I guess that's something haha

Stayed here one night, no issues. Well lit parking lot, relatively quiet after 11pm or so

This gas station fills propane tanks. Standard prices. Might be a bit tight to drive into the gas station with a big RV. Could park on the side of the road instead.

Very nice place. Quiet and peaceful. Quite a lot visitors end februari. The day-use area is also used as overflow by one night overnighters.

Beautiful place! A lot of cactus and animals around. The track is quite narrow with cactus on both sides of the track, so not recommended for big rigs.

In addition: in November/ out of season we were alone. There was only a garbage container, no toilets.
Now in February / high season: lots of camper vans. 3 pit toilets, clean.

Great place to stay. Everyone friendly. Clean bathrooms. Good nights rest in secure parking lot.

Still the cheapest around

Really nice swampy state park:) trails were a bit muddy and front entrance had no clue, so we had to turn around.

Closed today at 15.30, some people waiting maybe it opens later on

Teeny parking lot by a swamp trail at the end of a small gravel road. Half the parking lot was unparkable for something other than an ATV due to muddy terrain.

Really cool spot though, different than anywhere we have overlanded! Those cypress moss branches make for quite the view. At night, a few people came down the road but turned around once seeing us, or sat idling. Not the best feeling on a Saturday night, but hey, I think a lot of people just enjoy joy rides, or their privacy. We went kayaking off the designated kayak launch, then biked through the trail half way around the lake and turned back. A lot of alligators to see, even a momma and babies which we were cautioned to stay away from. Definitely recommend. Got data here.

NOTE: the mosquitos are brutally bad, as can be expected

We drove just past this site to the dead end where there’s an area to launch a kayak at high tide and explore the mangrove channels. Secluded, had 3G bars, lots of crab activity, had to drive thru some water/marshy crossings after a small rain to get here, could see it getting impassable after big rains.

We stayed here two nights for 50.000 per night for two persons in total. During the day and evening there was loud music. And during the night lots of dogs and roosters making noise. Not a place to expect a quiet night;) But during the day you can relax by the pool and use there WiFi.

This place is definitly day use only! Camping is only permitted in the nearby campground

The access is a bit rough, takes about. half an hour from Ruta 40. If it is windy better select a site to the right. Also better for larger vehicles.

Very nice camping spot! Couple of other campers, but there is a lot of space. Very quiet and a beautiful sunrise in the morning. Really recommended spot!

We did saw the little sign saying no overnight parking, but the motorhome parked behind was bigger (!). We took a risk and parked there after sunset, far away from the store on the gardening side. We are in a campervan and didn't get bothered by anyone. One night only, move in the morning.

Nice campsite, friendly owners, just starting up since couple of weeks. We had a nice time here

They only asked for a donation, we paid 350 rupees for 4 persons.

Better sites - get the ones which are behind hedges to shield from the wind at night
Access - From main road, drive to campsite is an okayish road (6.6/10)
Internet - 4G with Telkom and Vodacom

Restaurant limited, no dinner/breakfast or vegetarian options. Potable water but we were not allowed to fill-up. Very quiet at night, no other vehicles and little traffic.

Great little hostel with enough room for 2 big motos or plenty of bicycles inside, and many more in an outdoor semi-gated parking area. Safe neighborhood and a very friendly host. Unmarked from the outside but look for a red building with a white door and give it a knock.

Small kitchen, 4 bed dorm (2500/bed), wifi, shared bath. There are 1 or 2 private rooms available as well.
