Passamos apenas uma noite, foi muito tranquila, sem barulho tinha apenas uma família com um ônibus, pela manhã havia movimentação de pessoas e a polícia esteve no local.

nice spot. take the small road towards the river, just before the riverbed take the last path on your right. max hight 3 m because of trees. there you have a nice area to park and make a bonfire. you are a little visible from the small road, but noone bothered us. not visible from the village or the main road. with BIG RIGS just enter (and park) in the riverbed, it looks like there is seldomly water all over (trees are growing inside). little bit water in the river. everything easily accessible for 2 wd. 4G internet with irancell

24hr parking with guard with no height restriction. If you park only for 24 hours, it’s quite expensive. But if you plan to stay 3+ days, it gets much more affordable because they have a weird pricing structure for multiple days.

However, it’s hard to fit here if you are more than 6.5m long. Also, parking lot is full until at least 6pm on weekdays. Best to arrive on a Sunday, if possible. Then you can choose whichever spot you want.

This is now called Livalana Hotel. We stayed 4 nights, camped next to the lake, beautiful view and very peaceful. Took a boat trip, u can swim and canoe too. Lovely staff, free WiFi. We had use of a room for the bathroom, this was a bit run down but the water was hot and flowed well. We hiked independently around the headlands and also did part of the Nile/congo trail walking. restaurant and bar. 10000 rwf pppn

Stayed here 3 nights. Busy during the day but at night you’ll be alone. If you get lucky, the turtle refugee on the beach will release turtles ! If you see Benicio, the man cleaning the parking lot, have a little with him he is super nice!
The beach here is not very nice to swim but if you walk 15min in the left there is a nice waterfall to cool off

I drove in at night and the road to it feels remote. But then all of a sudden I pulled up to the parking lot and it was spacious. I stayed 3 nights. Super quiet and peaceful, even on the weekend. I saw a golf cart police unit driving around but they never paid me no mind. Plus there are awesome walking trails. I recommend this place!

Columbia boat ramp 33.94906, -81.02972

Still OK
We got to the town at 5pm, went to see the birds fly in the cave. The workers there were the ones who sent us here to sleep, and said that if we didn't leave the town at night, we could go and see the birds leave the following morning with the same ticket (100$ per person).
Parking itself is free and feels safe.
Not very level and can be a bit noisy in the evening since you are on the road, but good enough for us

Entrada a "El sótano de las Golondrinas" 21.60049, -99.10453

gas station has 2 rooms for rent. price is negociable. double check that the sheets have been changed for you. nice people run it and your room is right next to their home, there also is a security guy all night. ideal if you're in a pinch but wasn't the cleanest spot.

Estacion de Servicio Entrada de Timaná 1.98124, -75.93292

Stayed here 5 nights. Awesome spot with tons of room for campers of all sizes. The weekend vibe is very different from weekdays. We came on a Friday and there were lots of people and many off road vehicles driving around. More of a party atmosphere. We went dirt biking in Box Canyon and it was beautiful and fun. On Sunday night most people left and a herd of about 40 cows became our neighbors. We did a hike up to Flat Iron in the Superstition Mountains (about half an hour drive). Great place to camp!

Absolutely gorgeous area! The only things that bothered me were peoplethat visited leaving garbage! I got here in a Friday morning and it's been nonstop gunshots for 3 days, from 7am through dark! locals riding around on sandals was continuous! As usual, people ruin what can be such a beautiful area to relax and unwind with peace and quiet! well paved road coming in. I'm in a van and had really no issues. I would Not recommend coming in the rain or right after a rainstorm, as I almost got stuck in like 6 inches of mud in a spot!

Cheap hotel, with double rooms with fan (209 GHS) or AC (269 GHS). There’s a good restaurant with breakfast (eggs and bread is 25 GHS), lunch and dinner, and also a bar. In front of the beach. It’s empty on weekdays.

Big Milly’s Backyard 5.49585, -0.36570

Old and small but has river access for my kayak plus I don’t mind roughing it. $33 and change a night so not cheap. Does have electric and a shower in the restroom. Need to call 863-491-5333 for reservations though. I had no problem driving in and making reservations on a Friday afternoon in winter.

Still here. As they are renovating the upper part, you camp now down on the parking lot. There is no direct view, but next to a terrace with stunning views of the lake and the volcanoes. Nice fire in the evening. 15$ for two without breakfast, 25 $ including breakfast. You can relax here or take a boat trip with a combined hike to see both lakes (35$ per group, 3 hours), if you prefer some activity. They also have set up tents for 45$, including breakfast or rooms. In that case it is a good option to leave your car or motorcycle at the northern mainland and take the shuttle boat from the boating pier (see google maps) to the lodge. The direct road leading to the lodge from the southern mainroad takes approximately 1 hour. Quite rough, you need a 4x4 or at least high clearance. A lot of small wooden bridges on the route, not suitable for big rigs. But it is a beautiful drive.

Outdated facility, nice pitches but inventory such as showers and playground etc. in dire need of renovation. What is defective will be repaired, but no more investment will be made.

A very clean affordable place to eat in Mbala. Good well presented food.

Alkan Restaurant -8.84519, 31.37059

Beautiful and calm location in the nature on the beach and not far from the town, the best of both worlds. Rooms are roofless and need a sweep. We found a room shielded from the wind and we put up a tent and also on a mat outside under the stars.

Don’t make the same mistake that we did which was make a fire on the tiled floor that blew up quite dramatically…we collected sand and covered the rubble. Then made a fire on top the evidence. We were safe.

Open dirt lot south of the gas station. No signage. Spent one night. Didn't notice any foot traffic.

Dirt lot south of Mavericks Gas 40.92044, -111.89750

Large parking lot at km84 right next to the road. It's at an elevation so there's a nice view of the sea, coastline and little bay underneath. Seems like this is a viewspoint and resting area (some trucks stopped for a bit during day/ early evening and went on again). On the other side of the road there's a steep slope upward, so could be a good spot to hide from western winds.

On approx 200m there's some houses and Campo La Costilla, the manager is very nice and said that this spot should be safe and that sometimes other truckers/vans stay overnight here. Yes, it's next to the road and the parking lot itself is nothing special, but it could be a good stopover and there was little to no traffic at night. We felt a bit exposed staying here at first, but ended up having a decent night.
