Open again, free, super quiet, dry toilets, clean, picnuc tables, lots of shade

Chill spot to camp. We showed up late and just followed the fence until we found a few trees and posted up for the night. Some mosquitoes so be prepared for that. Coyote howls and frogs or crickets overnight and lots of birds in the morning!

Nice flat parking lot near the river to post up for the night. Lots of birds, little bit of interstate noise but nothing I’m not used to. There’s currently a POS trailer sitting in the lot but I didn’t notice anyone in or around it.

Better give the place a call before you go. i was there today and the owner said it is not possible to sleep there at the moment, as he is using the maddow for his horses. In Summer it will be fine from what he said.

Best to approach this location from Mariquita. You can come from the other direction but it ‘s a rocky road that requires some clearance. It was fun but our transit is awd with extra clearance. It’s 7 km of dirt/rock road. The campsite is next to the bridge, owner is Carlos. On the IOverlander map it is at the same location as the milk collection point. Spot has wifi at the shower point but the camp site is just out of reach. Swimming hole under the bridge or 300 meters upstream.

The place is OK. Not as bad as some people say. Electricity works good, showers are ok, no wifi, of course. 20 usd a night is expensive but 100 weekly is pretty ok.

No diesel here when we stopped. Maya Ndaga is such a beautiful friendly town! Worth stopping to greet people!

Lots of people at the larger spaces at the entrance but if you follow the road down a bit you will find some small spaces to park - I’m in a cargo van and that fit. I don’t know if I’d take an RV down, it’s a small bumpy dirt road and I only saw small spaces (but I didn’t go super far down). Very quiet and felt very safe. Great if headed to Mt. Bachelor or the Three Sisters area (the road to Three Sisters was closed at this time though). Weak cell service.

I just checked this place out. It's on someone's driveway in front of their gate. Decided not to stay here.

Ici une famille de fermiers modestes vous accueillent pour stationner pour la nuit. Ils n’ont pas grand mais d’une incroyable générosité. C’est la maison à gauche en brique rouge quand on va vers Guadalupe. Place un véhicule. Big rig ok avec une manœuvre simple. Terrain plat en herbe proche de la route mais ne gêne pas. Réseau pas terrible

Dangerous ruts make Forest Service Road 25 impassable currently.

If you take a driveway by the rest stop. You will find a clearing by the road. Quiet and nice spot in nature.

Only checked prices at this hotel. The older man working the front desk was very rude and didn’t care if we stayed there or not. When I asked where we could keep the bicycles he just shrugged his shoulders. There was no room for the bikes in the very small rooms.

The hotel next door is much nicer and I’m in shock that people have given this hotel good reviews.

The best campsite we’ve come across between here and Cape Town. It’s exceptionally well run and maintained. The ablutions are spotless (and have toilet paper and soap!) there’s a little scullery area where you can use the stove, kettle and toaster. The owners take a lot of care in the place and it shows. 150 rand per person.

Very quiet and safe municipal parking with a 24 hours guard and cameras. Free. Nice place to meet local people. Clean place.
