No camping here exactly but there’s sites nearby that we found. It was beautiful! Watch for rattlesnakes especially if you have a dog

Nice level site with a shade tree & several fire rings. 2wd access & good for solo campers or groups. Occasional OHV group, but overall very scenic and secluded. ~20 minutes outside Gateway. No T-Mobile

We crossed here at the end of may, still doable. The river itself was a joke, not even 20cm deep. The stretch before and after were rather tough but very doable.

Very chatty officers. They stamped our passports within minutes but were eager to have a long chat with us. Nice people.

spent a night in the camp site. Very pleasant stay. Clean ablutions, away from the lodges, electricity point, there had been a power outage so the geysers had no hot water in the evening. Next morning they were very hot. very acceptable per head US10 per night. Will definitely return on our next trip through Mutare.

Still $10 pp/night , water is on and pit toilets are fine. Many walk in sites in the woods. Some car accessible sites in the back as well. More parking in the front off the gravel road. It gets really dusty as people drive through way too fast being quite inconsiderate to others camping here.
Absolute perk is that you are right at the trailhead for the Chief or Sea to Sky trail.

Still here. Be aware not to get the 30gb data bundle, since you only get 1gb per day for 30 days. We didn’t know and were wondering why our internet wasn’t working.

Nice location. Good to reach but as others said, the sign is a bit confusing. Maybe not as easy to reach when it rained but still no 4x4 necessary.

We stayed here for a total of 4 quiet nights. Given the size of our rig this was the only option for us around the lake, so we were thankful for it, despite the price (I believe they charged 80 Quetzales/person/night). Showers at the pool are cold only, we didn’t use them. Apparently they had just installed new security cameras and one of the cables crossing the road was a bit too low and we caught it unfortunately. They told us that they will need a new cable - they showed us the invoice and we settled on us paying half of it. So while access generally is fine for big rigs, it can’t hurt to double-check for cables.
We were the only overlanders there, also no events during our stay, so it was quiet. And the view is just amazing!

We stayed there 3 Nights with our MAN with 3.55 m Clearance at the campsite on the end. Driving under the tree was millimeters 🙈😉👍. The Maintance Sylvana was very friendly and helpful. We could do anything, Boatcruises, Gamedrives and enjoining the nice cool 😎 Pool. It’s a great Place if you’re alone like us 🤩🤩💪👍

Signs indicate 24 hour parking allowed along Commercial Avenue. Noise from nearby highway, restaurants nearby.

Fuel Station, also has Water/Dump Station. $5. Dump and water are near car wash. Water is potable.

Great little camp spot - stayed a couple nights. Good places to walk and a nice view of the river in a valley. Road in is great!

Loved this spot! Beautiful and safe. The road in is a bit bumpy, but what road isn’t? Lots of lizards for your dog to chase.

Really clean restrooms and a water bottle filling station that we used to fill up a few jugs.

Note: there were signs posted for no parking during the Saturday farmers market.

thanks ioverlander for this place!! We arrived at night leaving Los Alerces park and we didn't see anything. In the morning it was beautiful! good views, there is a sink to wash, bathrooms but closed, barbecue and tables. excellent stop!

Mark is a great host and did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Due to the cold weather we stayed in the rondavel for R410 per night (booking is also possible through Booking.com). Ablutions are outside and really basic. There's a bigger cottage which is equipped with a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet as well as a small kitchen.
Camping is possible for R100 per person per night. Ablutions will be shared with the rondavel.
We loved our stay and decided to stay an extra night. Mark makes this a really nice place to stay. Horse rides are possible, he has his own horses. They can cook meals for guests also.
He is building a pizza oven at a newly acquired venue close by, be sure to check that out once it is ready. His homemade bread made in a Dutch oven was delicious!

Beautiful place, right next to the river. Next a road, which is not super busy. No WiFi though, but plenty of room for rv’s, tents and caravans

El Mirador was a nice place to stay for a couple of nights. The beach and the water were fantastic. The restaurant was not worth visiting.

We only hooked up to electrical. The post was a janky 15amp service which had faults on it. Some outlets did not work and we had to search for one which did.

Didier himself says they are not a garage, but a workshop and that’s resembles our experience. They are indeed very helpful and super friendly and have all kind of tools (and you are allowed to use them) but they are not experienced mechanics so watch hem closely. They can do some small maintenance, but don’t expect them to fix bigger issues with for example your engine.

Bel endroit, bien situé, près du 'nouveau' centre-ville. Ne pas manquer le nouveau Musi-Café, plein d'histoire.

When I went they always had money and paid me out in thousand pesos bills.
No queue, in fact nobody else.

10/10 stay, very quiet and no one bothered me, several people there later at night but seemed to just be smoking and enjoying the sounds of the waves.
