To add to all the positive comments, we LOVED it here. Our favorite campsite of the entire trip so far. This place has a really special vibe and is absolutely beautiful. Joep and Julia are so friendly and open to sharing their knowledge.

I highly recommend taking the paid property tour if you are interested in permaculture, water systems, food forests, etc… Joep was so enthusiastic to share everything he’s learned over the years! 🌱 oh, and being able to volunteer for a day was amazing as well. Nothing like learning firsthand!

Definitely buy some sourdough bread 🤘🏼

Extremely dog friendly. Our 🐶 didn’t want to go and played every morning and night with their dogs.

See you guys at our future permaculture, alternative building project in Italy and/or Brazil! 😎

Stayed in the big parking lot. Towards the far N/E side. Was lots of open area.
Sheriff was around the area most of the night, many times parking and sitting near me. Felt very safe.

Beautiful grassy and shady campsite with wonderful view. Bea y Alex are extremely welcoming and helpful, they maintain the garden very well. Shower and toilets very clean.

Great location right in Mérida! I like what they’re doing here. Sweet outdoor shower and I love that there’s an outdoor kitchen so I don’t have to heat up my rv in March! It’s already very functional but They have great plans to make it a true oasis.Jose provided me exceptional support. I needed some help in Mérida finding and communicating with a good dog groomer and collecting a package from a friend. Jose helped with both! He really went above and beyond for me. A great guy and a great place to stay in Mérida.

Stayed overnight, no knocks and no signage. Low traffic on the road; a few trucks but mostly locals. Cell connection spotty. Watch for broken glass and trash in the grass!

Space equipped for overlanding, whether it be tent, camper, or trailer. Very nice, secure, natural, equipped with hot water showers, clean water refills, and dirty water disposal, laundry facilities, wifi. It offers many more entertainment and gastronomy options. The cost is fair and includes taxes and insurance. Additionally, depending on the budget or need, you can choose a rate with or without breakfast. I highly recommend it for families, couples, or friends. Excellent service. You can view the service offerings and rates in the WhatsApp catalog at 3155580367

This place is the same as the one pinned slightly north, it's a huge parking area close to the sea and we slept here a night without being sent away or any problems at all. It can be just very noisy if people pick-nick near you, especially in Ramadan time.

We stayed there with out campervan and it costed 7,000 CRC per person. The place is really near to the beach, but in a stablished place. The bathrooms and showers were very dirty and cockroaches, and the kitchen with lot of dirty dishes, etc. If you need water or a stablished place, it works, but if not, it’s better stay in front of the beach.

Very simple and efficient - less than 40 minutes on a Friday staying at 2pm.

Immigration told me I'd only get 3 months TIP. When I spoke to Aduana, I started with Can I please have 8 months like my friend (with photo of his TIP). She said no problem and disappeared to do the paperwork, and we got 240 days, from Mar 22 to Nov 17.

Sanesa asked for dog documents. As we pulled out the EU Pet Passport he said that's great. I went to show him the SAG papers from Chile and he wasn't interested. I double checked and he said, "no, pet passport is all we need".

To be honest I was slightly annoyed after all the effort we went through to get the proper docs. I don't recommend not getting the papers done in advance, unless you have time to return to Chile to organize.

stayed two nights while waiting out a snow storm in our van. other people were here living out of their car.
not a bad spot to sleep for a night or two but I would get here early in the summer, I'm sure it fills up quick.
if they had some garbage cans then it would have been better.

Try driving past the marker, no 4x4 needed but a bit of clearance does not hurt. The road does not go very far.

There are a few spots right by the river, not super level but plenty of rocks around. Small pool in the river to cool down.

Not much wind protection. Great for Starlink. Super quiet at night, not visible from the street.

This is an informal campground with seven covered picnic tables, and a vault toilet. There is also as a big lot with room for people to spread out and it is right on the river. A few mosquitoes showing up at sunset right now, but not too buggy like other people have said it can be here. Easy access for even low profile vehicles and I am getting two bars of 5G Verizon.

What a place, what an experience. Freddie and Toni are your hosts. Two passionate individuals with hearts of Gold and in tune with their patrons. BikeForge is a "feeling rather than a destination"

I visited as a stranger and left a piece of my heart.

Friendly people. Don't expect too much of the "hot" showers. At least in off season (end of March) both toilets and showers were open from 8pm to 8am. There was no light in the bathroom. I couldn't perceive any difference between the "hot" and the "cold" water. Small restaurant run by friendly ladies is still open. Good base for astrtourism.

This place is awesome. There are a few nice spots to set up right by the river. Also there is a huge field that you can pretty much post up about anywhere. Verizon service is decent at 4g. You do need a discovery pass to camp. Fires are not allowed other than that have a ball and clean up before you go. Y'all be safe and stay rad out there.

Huge new road being built into village, totally spoiled the vibe of the place. Wouldn’t bother. Camp is across the road from the hotel, leave moto in car park and walk 50m across road. Not the best situation as the car park has lots of reversing mini buses… lots of noise. Construction, petrol water pump going for hours on end to pump water to the hotel. Down by the entrance lots of sellers… what a same. Nature ruined yet again. Sorry to be so negative. Wouldn’t support the vandalism that has been done in putting the road in…

Access roads to plaza are not really suitable for big rigs. We’re 7,35m long, 2,35m wide and 3.56m high and just made it with a bit if back and forth at some junctions, but then the access to the plaza was blocked (seemed to be only temporarily). When trying to leave the centre some police guys stopped us and said, we’re too big for these streets.
So, it’s doable but I would not recommend this for big rigs.

As described. We didn't read the description, and took on the steep rocky road. Paid $1 per motorcycle. It was steep and rocky. We excited the recommended route the next day. The road is not on OpenSteetMap data/OsmAnd.

So, head to:
13.27839° N, 87.87626° W
then head South on this road which will take you past 13.27138° N, 87.86512° W, and into the Miradores.

amazing camping with a view of sunrise.
we weren't alone. Another local couple and a family. They did play music and talk loudly, deciding to do so right next to our tent. Consider asking if he is expecting anyone else and camp at a different viewpoint?

after being tied up, attacked with machetes and guns in Belize, it was nice to know there were fences, gates and Roberto carries a handgun and tactical knife and looks a bit like Action man

We tried to go from Llumpa to Yanama today. We got stuck in a mudpit a couple of kilometers from Llumpa on 20° angle in the direction of the cliff, even though low range and lockers were engaged. Quite scary. We would have made it on the 2nd try but nonetheless we turned around there because a local told us that the road is impassable at the moment. I have put another warning pin there.
From all that we have seen from the road, I would not attempt this road without 4wd at this time of year (rainy season).
