We stood with our truck camper for 2 nights in the parking lot of the simple Wannabes Lodge. The parking is oblique. Price: 350 KWACHA for 2 persons, the vehicle and good WiFi per night. Very friendly manager. Some noise during the night by the squeaking gate. Bar and restaurant as well as a night security.

Stayed 2 nights. No one bothered. Nice and quiet. Good to hang a hammock.

We are biketouring and arrived to Alegría on a Friday afternoon around 3:30pm. There was a big market with lots of crafts, fruits, food, art, and lots of local tourists. The market happened Friday afternoon, and all day on Saturday and Sunday.

We asked in the Oficina de Turismo (turism office - in front of the park) where to camp in the town. We knew we could camp in the laguna but we wanted to spend a night in the town. We were met by super helpful and friendly people who work at the office and offered us to camp in the corridor of the police station building (covered with access to tap water).

We visited the market, eat some delicious food, and felt safe in the building. It’s open but it has a roof. We decided to set our tent after to the market had fizzled out.

Beautiful and quiet beach. Road in is easy, deep sand direct in front of the water.

Less than 100 yards away is the place the Appalachian Trail hikers call the Fontana Hilton. The Appalachian Trail actually runs along the sidewalk at the front of the parking area. Primary use of this lot is to serve the hikers coming through but I know it has been used for overnight stays by van life folk without being bothered. Remember it is on Federal property though and the signs will state this emphatically however as long as you are discreet they will let you be at least overnight. There is a bathroom with free hot showers down the hill close to the AT shelter.

We just arrived it hotel Ramses with our 2 bicycles. The guys here are really friendly and funny, but don't speak a word of English but we made it work with Google translate! They offered us a double room for 200 Egp so we didn't bother so try to get the price down. The room is relatively clean, has air-conditioning and a fan. The bathroom is not great though but everything works 👌. Our bicycles are in the hallway on the first floor.

Cool spot. Park close to the road or hide in the back behind trees or bush. Grassy. Easy access for all rigs. Enough open space to make your solar happy.

We found ourselves on a narrow dead end street. Too narrow for rigs a bit wider than a medium sized van. No way you can turn when you have a trailer.

Excellent campsite, nobody want to live from here.
Very, very friendly, just right to the lake.
Sanitary excellent, very new and clean.
One cofe offer every morning.
Price very friendly too (2 people / 4x4), 11euros by night

15 MN by walk for the monastery

Official camper spot. Place for 4 campers. Next to the n257, so some noice. Beautiful quiet place with a lot of space. Between the modern windmills.

Two wheel travellers can follow paths away from the road. Mature acacia trees offer excellent shade and can't be seen from road.
Entrance to sand quarry nearby so truck noise during the day.

Lots of mosquitos by the water, we had to drive away about a quarter of a mile to escape most of them. Otherwise a great spot that has lots of spaces to park.

quiet sppot. saw a couple vans here with no issues. only stayed for a night.

Stayed in the lower parking lot next to the water.

Was a great pretty quiet night until about 4 am. A car with two people showed up, loud music and seemed to be up to no good. Heard them walking around my van, so I set the alarm off, quickly jumped into the cockpit from the back and left the parking lot.

Please do not let this one off event scare you from using this site. It’s beautiful here.

Will stay here again, upper parking lot next time.

Decent backpackers close to Lusaka Central. Clean rooms with a cheap bar and restaurant.

Paid $18 pppn sharing. Breakfast included, although nothing substantial.

Good place for stopover if you have to be in Lusaka.

Nice quiet place at the end of a long dirt road. Do not! I repeat DO NOT used your screens or have you fan set to blow in your vehicle. The bugs come right through.

great park on center of city, but not reccomended for pass the night, the polices kick us out after 20:00.

Fabulous campsite on the banks of a lake (connected to the Zambezi). The campsite is grassy, shady and spread out! The ablutions are clean and the water is hot! We had free use of the canoes and our boys got to use the bikes for free as well. Zane and Zena are very friendly and helpful! The view from the bar is breathtaking at sunset! A great place to camp!

check in at the Salina campsite 150 mxp there are toilets water and a tyre pressure compressor to reinflate you tyre after sand driving. you pay 1 time regardless of how long you stay, Sand is mobile, this road changes, you can get to within walking distance of the beach if no 4x4 unreal environment to stay or visit.

here starts the trek to pueblo escondito and salto del tigre too. about 6km to pueblo escondito and other 6km to salto del tigre. its worth a visit.

Great TX State Park that can be difficult to get a reservation.

Gate is closed from Noon to 2pm. If you have an RV reservation you'll need to email the park. Email is listed at the gate or just plan on arriving after 2pm which is normal check-in. Cell service is spotty unless you have a booster. Great hiking, but bring water.

A great local garage. They helped us out enormously when our fan belt gave up 10 minutes into our 6 hour drive home. ordered parts and installed them in the same day and had us on the road by 4.30pm. Great guys, great service and so friendly

Nice and peaceful. Stayed for a night with no issues. There was another spot I noticed that also has a fire ring about a quarter of a mile down the road

Quiet spot among olive tree terraces
Nice for setting the tent for one night, but not ideal for longer stays.
The car can be left in the parking area beneath, where some campers are parked, and the spot can be reached in one-two minutes only.
3.5 stars for me 😄
