Perfect place for a night. It's way off the road and not visible at all. It wasn't even that cold. Great scenery.

Perfect spot for all size rigs and a few tents too. Breathtaking views. And a double rainbow for an hour.

Disagree with the person who marked this road with this warning, and agree with others, it is a long climb but not a difficult road. I would say about 70% is paved, gravel is mostly hard packed and smooth, nothing like loose gravel. The gradient is not steep at all (I consider steep to be 100m elevation gain or more / kilometer), I'm sure it would be just fine to ride the whole thing with a normal touring bike with skinny tyres.
Also, the original reviewer recommends a detour through Chachapoyas to avoid this road, but keep in mind that that route will add significantly more climbing. Assuming many of the cyclists who are riding this road (3N) are wanting to ride from Jaén to Cajamarca on a direct route, taking 3N would be 320km with 8,843m ascent and 6,648m descent from Jaén to Cajamarca. If you go through Chachapoyas and take 08B, it will be 492km with 14,957m ascent, 12,962m descent. Unless you want to go towards Chachapoyas and see the waterfall and some ruins, adding another 170km and 4,000m of elevation gain just to avoid some smooth dirt roads is not worth it in my opinion.

Nice place on the mountain with a view over the fields and the sea.
Next to a quiet road. Good for lunch and overnight.

Huge gravel lot, plenty of space and level in most spots. Far enough from the highway so it’s pretty quiet. Several semi trucks and a few RVs and vans parked overnight.

Great stop! Quite a few semis but there is a gravel area to the right and I was only one there. Besides the semis, I heard crickets and coyote! No Highway noise. I overslept it was so good! No facilities.

Nice little hotel between the two borders. About 50usd for a private with bathroom, breakfast, and ac included. Gated parking, at least for cars and motorcycles. Solid restaurant on site as well and nice people.

Not much going on in town, but you can walk ten minutes from the hotel to the shore. Good stopover.

Nice little park with RV hookups and covered picnic tables. Playground for the kids. The entry sign has $15 a night posted. The lake is super low so it's a good distance from the park.

Camped here twice in the past two weeks coming and going on a trip through Chiapas. I'm moto camping. Access to the area from the road is easy. But there really is no privacy from the road unless you head down the hill which is what I've done.

I recommend it as there is not many spots in this area on IOverlander.

Wonderfully quiet and away from busyness of the town. We checked in with the front and they were happy to have us stay. Parked in the NW corner of their lot.

Wonderful and easily accessible. Many dispersed sites in this area are relatively close to the road, but this one offers a great deal of seclusion. No problem on the road in with our van. It is super clean; let’s all try to keep it that way. Enjoy 🙂

One of several pull outs along the road to McNary Dam. This one appears to be right on the border of BLM land. No signs regarding camping or parking. Nice level spot with view of the dam and the river. A bit windy, but that’s to be expected in this area. Full cell signal for T-Mobile

Perfect over night spot. Only 15 minutes from the ferry’s to catch an early ferry over to Vancouver Island. Ditto….peaceful, tucked in the trees, sounds and views of the river all night long. Only the occasional car drove by.

Lovely spot with awesome views over the lakes and surrounding snowcapped mountains. Great sunset too. Eady to reach with any vehicle.

We camped up the cliffs and met some of the very nice locals. Going to the toilet might be a bit of a challenge when you don't have your own, but still manageable.

Good internet reception with Turkcell. Downside: tons of non-biting tiny flies in the tall grass.

Near Galéria there is right at the seaside a four terraces high parking spot for campers and vans. I read on Google maps that it cost 20 euro per night, but we were there for free. I think about 13 others vehicles were there. It's a nice little town to visit with cows at the beach.

Absolutely beautiful location right on Trinity Lake. The lake is almost full this year so great time to visit. No services pack it in pack it out. Dirt road down to lake a bit steep and big ruts from winter when it was wet and large trucks dug the ruts but easily doable. I have 4x4 but did not use it.

Interesting hotel for motorcyclists, we could park our 2 motos in a secure place inside the gate of the hotel. ( 3 motos should also be possible but not more I think).
About the hotel it is a moderate price (40 euros for a triple room, breakfast included). Everything is clean and the room is big.

A fine spot for the night, nothing special. The dirt road getting here is a bit rough and narrow. We showed up late in the evening after leaving Yosemite and no one ever drove by. 1-2 bars Verizon. Not super level but ok for the van.
