Nice spot right next to the river. Great for swimming.
When we arrived there were about 60locals enjoying the spot. A little intimidated, we squeezed in with our large truck and did hit some branches. Everyone was super friendly though!

Locals left before sunset and we had a very quiet night.

Nice family run informal campground.
Angelika is super nice and explains everything you need to know.

We saw a pair of wild macaws and spider monkeys eating right from the tree next to the camper, heard the howler monkeys everyday but they didn't visit.

Road here is doable with big rigs, even semis drive it. Just bumpy with some gravel sections and lots of potholes.
We took from south to north 307 near benemerito.

We came from Pichicuy beach. Our Dog was bitten by two German shepherds. So we came in case the open wound needed some stitches... they were very friendly and professional! We really recommend them!

we came back ! in our way down to the south! Even better than the last time ! Nobody else staying even during Friday night! we stayed two nights....last night around 1am Carabineros pass by... didn't say anything... maybe the first night as well but we were sleeping a little bit earlier haha 😂. The lady charging for parking during the day is not working in low season even during weekends! Be aware most of the shops closed during low season....

We did not do any horse rides; we just went to camp. No charge other than patronizing the restaurant—and we also bought pool passes which were essentially a requirement with the heat. Lots of friendly locals there for the day, including kids for our son to play with. We were told we could park “anywhere” out front, and we snagged a nice private spot under a tree. Private and quiet, until the morning when it turns out the huge horse tour group gathered on our “back porch.” Haha.

We found out that this place is a bit run down. The views are great but the coffee finca looks unkempt. We where able to stay at one place up close to the road, close to the really basic but clean bathrooms. The second place is down, more close to the coffee trees but far away from the bathrooms. This place has a stunning few. Unfortunately there is a tree with branches that doesn't allowed us to get down there.

Easy to find with google maps.

Really friendly people, had to stay longer because of demonstrations and blocked roads. Wifi is working in the restaurant area, got a meat for one bungalow for shower and toilet, clean but cold shower.
Enjoyed our stay.

Great place to stay. Many families in the weekend, some music, but we liked it. Great view on the rafters and kayaks in the river. Big enough for big rigs.

The nicest place we have visited along Lake Malawi by far and also our favourite place from 6 months of travelling around Southern Africa. It is like paradise. Crystal clear water, with loads of colourful fish, golden sandy beaches enclosed by large granite outcrops which create a very secluded feel, and provide lots of targets to swim out to rocks which you can dive off. There are also 2 canoes which you can borrow for free and explore. The bird and butterfly life around the chalets is spectacular. We spent 4 nights here, and regretted not staying longer.
The camping area for RTT is pleasant: grassy, with little paved paths which lead down through tropical trees to the beaches. But the chalets are such amazing value for money, so we had the new (yellow?) chalet which had a double bed and plenty of space for our 2 kids to sleep on mattresses on the floor. All for Kw34k per night. Also Dani and her staff cook tasty food - about Kw5k for lunch and Kw7.5k for 1 course dinner which is very good.
It’s 55km to Usisya from when you leave the tar in Mzuzu. The first 35km is normal Malawi dirt road and fine, then it gets progressively worse for 10km, then better for the last 10km, apart from the last few hundred metres which is like a footpath through gardens. We did this right at the end of the wet season and the road was pretty bad, but probably it will be repaired soon. Required low 4WD on the way out, but it was fine, and most of the really steep parts have concrete. The drive is a bit of an adventure, but definitely worth it.

Amazing place to camp! Narrow road around the dam but doable with patience for making room for other cars. Also a few stuck cars in the beach area, probably best to stay on main tracks. Great access to hikes nearby.

Not sure if this place is still active. No one was here when we came in, the main structure in the grounds has collapsed. We camped at the trail head car park because of a serious storm overnight and didn’t want to be in the trees.

No problem class B parking Saturday night, starting at 7:30PM. Food trucks line this street during the day, thin out after 6 or 7PM. Perfect spot, no knocks. Leave Sunday 6PM, free all day Sunday.

The Maiden Voyage of the Camping House! We boondock camped with Brian and Shelly Bresnahan at an apparent shooting range, Cooper collected spent ammunition as "Treasures". The high temp 66° with a low of 31° and sustained winds speeds at about 18MPH with some lulls and large gusts. Ian and Brian went on a 10mi EBike ride and Coop, Shelly, and I went on a hike up the rock formations where we saw a lizard and found a horse shoe! Brian and shelly came over and we played a few hands of Kings Corner. We spent the first night in the trailer and it was awesome, being warm and having a bathroom available to use without having to put on shoes and get a flashlight!

JOLIENS REST CAMP @ ARIAMSVLEI

We simply had a superb experience with the excellent service we received from the owners, Johan and Sarolina. Apart from their well established Lodge (chalets and campsite), they have a restaurant, bar, butchery, bakery, basic groceries, where they sell just about everything you need upon entering Namibia. They also assisted us with a Namibian sim card and airtime (data), as well as wood. Ultra clean ablutions, hot water, flushing toilets.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
