Great overnight spot in Durango. We had no issues staying one night

As all the campsites in the NP were fully booked, we ended up here, but we don't regret it! Very nice owner, we paid 25$ and could share the spot with friends (so 12.5$ per vehicle) with water, and dumping. Very close to west entrance of the park, but it takes 40min to get to the Chisos visitor center. Quite, good and open wifi.

great spot would recommend. you can hear the trains horns in the distance but not too loud. minimal traffic at night on 66. this spot and the next spot are just the two ends of the same pull off loop which is about 400m long. please bury your toilet paper...we left a shovel at the fire pit for anyone who needs it.

Good showers at the YPF station.

There is a sign that says 50 pesos for the shower but when I ask to take one, they didn’t ask me to pay.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Maybe it was a lucky day 😅

The water was really hot, with a good flow. The showers in women and men’s rooms were clean.

Much better than the showers at the other YPF station lower in the city (where the water was cold, and where they ask me 100 pesos for the shower).

We ask to take a shower and a nice girl shows us the way to get to it. The water was cold at first, but if you wait a bit (5min) while pressing the button several time, at the end, it gets warm(ish).

They didn’t ask to pay anything, there were very friendly.

Awesome little spot. Super quiet. Showed up at 10 pm, saw the sign about April 15 but there was either no gate as it said, or the turnaround was prior to a gate. Will visit again on the way to Yosemite.

Awesome spot for a night. Similar to previous poster, the minimal traffic noise was drowned out by the waves crashing. Lots of pull offs on this road looked great. Did a fun hike in the morning - Natural Bridge. Cell service was spotty.

We came from Rock Arch (where we camped the previous night) and wanted to camp at either Mirabib or Homeb. We 1st checked out Mirabib, and were very impressed. Then we decided to drive to Homeb. The scenery enroute was simply out of this world. Absolutely breathtaking! Arriving at Homeb, we noticed the settlement which is just 300m away, and decided to go back to Mirabib. We chose the camping spot, 1st turn off at the rocks, turn left, drive up the little hill, the 1st camping spot on the left. Here we could enjoy enough shade in the afternoon, and enjoy both sunset and sunrise, stunning views. There were only 2 other vehicles that night. Absolute quietness.

This spot wasn’t ideal for us. It was a little close to the road and civilization for our liking, but would work in a pinch. Farther up into the hills there are other roads that lead further into the forest, and we found a camp down one that was nearby and on the other side of the road. Looks like the locals just use these roads to come chop firewood. We saw no one.

The road up to the parking lot is now completely paved. Parking paved as well. We went further to the spot and drove down to the theater. It is indeed a very special place, but we did not stay and returned to the parking. Although there were some tracks it did not feel right to drive over those stones that are part of the site. Felt a bit like trespassing. There is also a sign at the parking saying that the site is closed from 20:00 - 08:00.

We stayed here on a Thursday and Friday the week before Easter. There was only one other party on the campsite, no guests in the lodge.
Luckily we got one of the two riverside campsites and had a wonderful view. Each campsite has its own fire place, braai place and power point. Staff was very friendly and attentive, making the fire or asking if we liked to have meals or do an activity.
As already said, the 8 campsites are quite close to each other. Each campsite has its own shower and toilet in the ablution block. Shower was hot and had good pressure. There is a dish washing area, a pool and a bar on the campsite. Everything got cleaned every day.
One evening we had dinner - the table was put outside close to the fire place and laid very nicely. We were surprised.
Camping costs now 16$pppn we can't say anything about the activities.
We would stay there again, but probably not at a weekend or on school holidays.

Slept here one night. I didn’t have the confirmation from Walmart but I didn’t have any problem. I parked on the left near the gas station.

Beautiful sunset, but quite windy. Not entirely flat, but it was good enough. The cows weren't too loud and I never had a train pass by. A handful of local trucks, but no one stopped. There for 1 night.

As described … it’s a municipal lot. However, there are no ‘no parking’ signs, there is an area which belongs to the hotel that you can’t park in, and there is a farmers market sign but when I was here on sat morning in April, there was no farmers market! On the whole a very, very, very quiet nite. Very little road noise, if any. The Safeway if you need to get provisions is literally 100 yards from the end of the lot. Keep it on the downlow ppl please. Especially you RV types that like to roll up in these places and put out the the lawn chairs and fire up the grill like you own the joint. This is a free, flat, quiet space. Let’s not burn it, please!!!! (Edit: ended up spending 3 nights there - no issues)
