I came here and stopped for the night after previous entry/users recommended the spot. A sop on the way to Semuc Champey. As was parking I saw 2 police officers and asked them if it was okay to park. Got the green light. They said it's very safe. No proem with parking here.

I would not recommend parking at this spot as after midnight lot of buses and Collectivo park here to pick up passengers. it goes especially loud in the morning. I would park on the other side of this road across the Park as it's quieter there.
The toilets are in the mall where McDonald and Taco Bell are. Beautiful Mall. Wi-Fi here has 15 min. limit.

Paquiza é chapeiro tem um espaço onde faz pequenas soldas e lataria de veículos. A maçaneta da nossa porta da kombi estragou e ele arrumou nos cobrando $5.

Paquiza is a hat maker, he has a space where he does soldering and bodywork for vehicles. Our van door handle broke and he fixed it by charging us $5.

Parking can certainly be a bit crowded and only space for 3 SUV sized vehicles but it is a good little spot with super friendly hosts. Right across the beach with some good surfing options and not a far walk to around the pier if you want to surf off the point.

Do any shopping you need in Trujillo before coming, there are minimal options in Huanchaco and we weren’t that impressed with the local market.

By far the best campground I have stayed at since Laredo Texas. Has a proper bathroom facilities with hot water, bath matt, hooks to hang cloths and a shelf to keep things! More like a human campground than just a place to park a vehicle! the view is great but walking back up to the camper from the lakeside is quite a job! The drive was very interesting, especially the last 15 KM or so. The sharp turns reminded me of Takaka Hills in New Zealand! very well maintained property! Absolutely recommended for a stay! The best!

The first ferry we were in line for had a card reader and was prepared for us to pay with card. We weren’t able to get on that ferry, so we waited for the next. The second time around they asked for cash, so we paid cash! Easy boarding process. Nice people. Ran on the hour while we were here.

PS: The peninsula road is pretty, but not necessarily scenic until golden hour in the northern parts. The road is paved, but quite wavey / bumpy. It won’t cause major delays, but in hindsight, we would have opted to save some time and take the 116 instead

just as described. links up to part of the creek trail that traverses the whole city. there are sirens throughout the night, so it may not work if you’re a light sleeper. lots of other vanfolk there, cop parked nearby, but they didn’t seem to care about the obvious vanfolk :)

First….
Do NOT trust Google maps to turn left down a hill to get to the campground, I got my rear wheel drive Sprinter stuck immediately in the sand and had to spend $626 for a local tow service to off road rescue me out… thanks google maps…

Second…..
Okay so hear me out… This place is amazing, free, pit toilets, right on the water, however…. For one, the mosquitoes and flies are absolutely horrendous… to the point where you have to close up at like 6 pm or you will be eaten alive by mosquitoes… The flies are just as bad but thankfully don’t bite…
Now for the locals… we were warned that this spot gets busy on the weekends but little did they tell us that the locals just take over this place… like they walk right through your spot and access the water right in front of your spot like you aren’t even there. We had a river front spot and the locals just took over it and we had absolutely no privacy. They seemed nice but I just thought it was kind of rude considering they had an entire pond with access to the river right in front of their haul of 5 campers but instead walked through our site. They also had multiple dogs not leashed up that they had no control over.

Also for the people on here that were here before me, pick up your trash, do not tell your kids to poop in the water or around the site when there are pit toilets within walking distance. Be considerate of the next people coming, you are who get spots like this taken away from us good people out here. Otherwise great spot…

Info pertaining area…
Blythe is about 30 mins away and closest big town however there is a small little convenience store about 5 mins from here for necessities…
Be careful of coyotes. Saw two of them while waiting for my tow jeep to come.

The BEST motorcycle mechanic. Read the Google reviews. We visited and he sorted out all sorts of problems with our motorcycles. Went above and beyond to weld us special parts when we couldn’t find the right ones for our bikes in Bosnia. 10/10 couldn’t recommend more!

The prices are totally crazy now ! 7000 for 2 peoples for one hour to make your little carpet. even in the shop the prices are really expensive. 20 euros for a little bag. they work with the CBT of the city. this CBT has now crazy prices. (200 euros for 2 people for horse riding for exemple) . It is better to go in another place in Kirghizistan for cultural activities .

Fair amount of other campers, but still found a handful of great spots with amazing views of the badlands. VERY windy so I don’t recommend if you plan for any outdoor cooking. It had rained a bunch the few days prior and the day of my visit so the road and camp pullouts were all mud. The mud here is super sticky and clay-like. I ended up with over an inch of mud covering my tires and bottoms of my shoes. I have an AWD compact suv and was sliding around on some parts of the road and while trying to park at the perfect angle so I don’t recommend smaller FWD/RWD vehicles after there has been a decent amount of rain. There were some big rigs in there so I guess they found the muddy roads to still be manageable.

A great little spot for cyclists down by the river. So many fireflies at dusk, it was an amazing sight! Logs and rocks to sit on, trees for shelter and shade, a deep river for swimming. We chose not to drink from this one and would recommend bringing enough water with you. A few options for where to put a tent well above the water level. The road was quiet at night, we felt safe.

It's near a waterbody. Very peaceful.
While we stayed here only some locals who played cricket came.
In monsoon it might need 4x4 to reach.

Great, well maintained lodge with chalets and campsites and a great Eco ethos. Cheerful and friendly.

Basic camp sites with braai base and (mostly) a tree for shade. Shared ablutions with scullery and exceptionally hot water. Large solar array provides plenty of power.

The whole area is soft sand so it’s hardly surprising that the path to/from the main lodge is sandy. Very good viewing platform, sitting area with honesty bar. Good quality 3-course set meal for P300.

Paid P600 / night for 2 pers.

Would certainly go back.

Perfect location for the night, just keep going more into the "development" and you'll be away from the few homes in the area. No one passed by and you can hardly hear any highway noise.

This a great campsite that fit our 25ft trailer and a truck camper and has a pretty view. But the ranger just came by and said it's not a campsite because it's in a recreation area. Not sure why that's a problem. He was nice but we had to move. Consider this spot closed and unavailable!!! The campground is on the way to this spot, walking distance. It's $15 a night now but the fees didn't start until May 11th. We didn't realize that or we would have stayed in the campground. I don't know when the fees end for the season. Water and trash are not available until Mid May.
