Fantastic, low key spot right on the river, we pulled down about 100ft past this spot at a turn around, but there’s a few hidden places to camp down here and more towards lake pillsbury. This river is teeming with life, birds, otters, turkeys, water fowl, etc. So cool. Got here at 4pm on a Friday, a few other people here hanging out. swam and chilled by the river all afternoon. This is a locals hangout area, so if it’s busy, probably best to find another area. Tight squeeze, steep, rocky road in. #onlyvans or trucks, no RVs or trailers. Doesn’t get much better than this though! Pick up some trash and keep it low key, no fires, etc. there are some no camping signs in the area, but quite a few other people doing it and we had no problems. Plus, It’s been a while since you’ve made a “living in a van down by the river” joke.

Nice place at the lake. No music and no barking dogs nearby. Quiet night at Friday. At 10pm a guy came and show me his security passport. He said we should pay 100 somoni to stay here. We said no we don’t pay anything, but he was very persistent and in the end he was fine with 10 somoni. I will stay here again.

definitely coyotes & also locals that are appa watching this place now. I setup & heard someone slowly drove by, go to the end of the loop, whipped a bitch & did it again. It was a big truck with a threatening aura & they were probably the same ones that drove by again in the middle of the night. Not sure when but someone came through again in the 6 hours I was there. I left before sunrise & didn't leave a trace. Won't be back & don't recommend especially when someone's driveway comes down this street & probably who was wondering who was pulling in this street just before dark. Washington homeless problems have residents upset & don't take kindly to "car/van dwellers"

This is a good entrance for mountain biking day use but not for camping. The road to campsites is 4wd only and will shake your rig apart. Use the Riverway entrance out County 32 to McCain farm entrance and follow Road 3500 to campsites. Stop at the entrance kiosk display for a map of campsite locations you can photograph. The paper map does not show campsites.

We asked in the restaurant if we could park in the car park behind the house, about 50m away from the road. No problem, the lady was very friendly. Less traffic at night. Restaurant open until 7pm. We had good Entel connection.

No problem at this location, very quiet. About 6 rigs when I was there, parked furthest from the storefront. What I would recommend, and what would be better is to park in the completely empty and dark lot to the side near Home Depot. No customer drive bys, no noise.

The best site we have stayed at thus far, spectacular view. It's right off the main road a few meters in but it's safe enough and the ground is fairly level. I think two car campers could fit or one big RV. Since it's a view point 2 cars stopped whilst we were there to take pictures of the scenery but after 5pm no one stopped and the main road was quiet from 8 or 9pm.

Great wi-fi and GREAT food. Only open til 3 pm but they said it was fine that we sat outside and worked with the wi-fi. Lots of tables outside and wi-fi worked out in our car too. Password is posted right when you enter. We worked here for 2 days (video calls). You gotta try the food. everything is delicious esp the fry bread!!

The entrance is a bit before the overlander pin and can be particularly difficult to find at night. (I'll mark in on iO when leaving). I got in around 6 hoping to see sunset, but it was already dark and super foggy. I missed the turn off twice and ended up sleeping far away from the viewpoint for fear of driving off the paraglider ramp. Did I mention there was super dense fog? 😂 In the morning sunrise was amazing and I made my way closer to the viewpoint. At night it wasn't so windy but in the morning the wind picked up. It was a quiet night and a beautiful morning here.

Awesome spot, quiet, private, beautiful. Train and highway are omnipresent, but tolerable. River is nice and tame right now. Road is rutted out as described, difficult when muddy. Good cell reception.

There are several spots up along this road, some more and some less private, all reallyclose to the road. Amazing views over the river.

Nice place, especially when you see the sheep! It gets pretty busy quickly, 5 parties there already. If you're lucky you meet really nice people at these community camp sites. Ok cell service. A little creek at the far end site for water. Outhouses a 1 min drive in both directions on the highway.

For cyclists and probably most vehicles. Flat area 100 metres from road. Out of site of passing cars.

Accessible from rough track at northern end of crash barrier.

No water or Claro signal.

We stayed one night 2p and motorhome and paid ARS 4,000.
Good hot showers. Toilets ok. Sites with electricity, BBQ and table. 1km to plaza. Prices at entrance. In evening someone comes by for payment

Wow this place is hot! Our truck got down to 29 degrees C at 5am - that was with all windows open and fly screen up!!
There’s a lot of big trees towards the back car park ( which incidentally is definitely the best place to park due to noise from the banana plantation as per previous post). The trees though mean no Starlink
Do NOT park nearer the entrance buildings if you are going to be stopping any time soon- there is a hive of “African Killer” bees there. They are unbelievably aggressive.- I’ve never come across the like in 8 yrs of bee keeping. Apparently bred this way in Brazil and have gradually made it up here. My poor husband was stung 3 times!! Please be careful

Found it just as reported by others. Quiet place to spend a night. Definitely take the time for the hike. Even if you don’t have time for the whole 1 1/2 mile loop, the views are worth it. Added two photos of campsite from the hike.

40,000COP for two people with private bath. Room (#6) was dark and smelled of mildew. Shower has hot water but low pressure. No toilet seat. Church next door where they sang and clapped loudly for 3 hours Friday night. Next morning construction started at 7 am. Lady was nice but we had to switch to another hotel in town for some much needed rest after cycling the El Trampolin de la Muerte. Switched to Hotel Mirador San Rafael and got some much needed rest.

Nice place, att had cell reception, private space and easy roads once you get past the rocky beginning but my 2WD had no problem

Great hospitality here, very popular with the locals on the weekend, there was live music and a big crowd. Everyone lovely and extremely excited to meet a foreigner. $10 including breakfast. Off street parking for motorcycle

This is a great spot if you want somewhere to crash before heading into either of the parks. Road is 2WD friendly even in wet weather. About two dozen campers tents and large rigs with slideout. Quiet given it's so close to the road. Donation recommended, donation box by info point.

4WD required? Just a quick note to fellow 2-wheelers that we got stuck in a Ram Promaster right at the beginning of the road after the cattle barrier where you cross a sandy wash before the gravel road restarts. We could have probably made it despite being full with gas, propane, and water IF we had switched traction control off (I forgot). Ultimately we bottomed and plowed sand until we got stuck a few feet before the paved road restarts. This is just to say don't be as stupid as I was, if you attempt it turn traction control off and go for it flat out and keep your fingers crossed. Personally I won't try again, too much hassle :-)

Lovely cafe ideal for breakfast if staying at the campsite next door. Nice pastries and coffee. Cheaper than the Shell Garage near the centre. WiFi is weak and slow indoors but their signal extends over the Municipal campsite. Open 6.30 until 13.00 then 18.00 until 21.00.

We checked with customer service inside Wal Mart to make sure it was okay to stay the night. The lady said it was perfectly fine to stay and if we want to stay another night just let them know. She suggested staying on the side by the gas station. Which we did and it was very quiet.
